To see the world in a grain of sand. And heaven in a wildflower -- To hold infinity in the palm of your hand And eternity in an hour. William Blake 1863
After heard Glenn Gould's playing, I do not want to listen to other people's playing,. I am not saying other's playing are not good, there are lots good players out there, but Glenn Gould's playing is unique , with character. And touching. Just talk about this piece, he can make it so tearful, and has so much feeling in there without doing too much. That is amazing. Love it!!
Yes. Exactly. Richter is a non plus ultra for me, but I think that Gould surpasses him with some pieces. I think they are the greatest pianists of all time. That may not be true, but I do not accept any objections if we talk about pianists playing Bach. No one can ever play Bach, well, better? with more character? with more emotions? than they did. I hope God gave the man who invented music recording a seat on his right :)
Slow contemplative peices like this really show Gould's amazing skill. LIke the old saying goes: "You can get away with murder playing fast, but playing slow? Then there is no place to hide."
his humming just kind of makes me feel somewhere far away like i'm worthy of affection or something idfk im just kinda happy with the music its like a tree casting a shadow in summer with a soft breeze or water its like simultaenously anyone and no one at all is thinking about me and it all kinda reminds me of death
@Jörmungandr i just remembered writing that and yes recently i listened again and it struck me how much expression there was it made me cry. this single performance makes me feel a lot of things and then i patricularly felt his love for music which was so great it was overwhelming. and at other times i've been finding it nice to take walks and listen to him. its a whole different topic as to how feelings are translated into something different and personal for the listener, but im pretty convinced he personally liked looking at the birds and the trees too. the whole reason for which i started listening to him was because he managed to do so much by so little, express so dramatically yet so quietly, so elaborately when you think he does it simply, his expression and craft went against what i used to know. i couldnt express it any differently than "it struck a special string in my heart", one that i didnt know about earlier.
im really happy to know/have known it, because it's not an eternal or permanent state, although the existence of the emotion is eternal by itself. glenn is generally interesting cause sometimes I feel like I relate to him perfectly, and sometimes like I don't understand at all. well, probably because I'm a different kind of person really but some part of me is in a lot of accordance with him
Música del agua. ¡Oh ,hija mia!

@silencesings Don't forget this is only a transcription from the oboe concerto in d minor by Allessandro Marcello. Give the poor guy some credit too ;-)
10 stars for this genius.
Wonderful interpretation. Has a real baroque feel and very meditative. I love it. Thanks, Glenn Gould! You really feel music.
I love how he really makes the voices of the left hand really sing. Brilliant :)
This is so beautiful.
Glenn Gould ... the best interpretation of bwv 974 for me
To see the world in a grain of sand.
And heaven in a wildflower --
To hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.
William Blake 1863
Love it.
Some of us so this regularly...♥
Surely Bach was delighted with Venetian music, it sounds extremely fresh even today
The intensity of Gould's performances is like a bright light shining from within him. He was truly a genius.
oh, yeah!

I don't really know but he always tugs a special string in my heart
He is literally uncanny, no one ever could be like Gould.. the greatest pianist of all time.
….GG was extraordinary even among the best ones during his era….a unique translator from heaven to us…
Slow contemplative peices like this really show Gould's amazing skill. LIke the old saying goes: "You can get away with murder playing fast, but playing slow? Then there is no place to hide."
things like this slowed down and played thoroughly r the best i feel like they slow down and expose my life
Métaphysique. Le temps. L'univers.
Grazie, Alessandro Marcello, grazie agli strumentisti validissimi, grazie buon Dio misericordioso!
Another wonderful example how deeply Glenn Gould was connected to the essence of music and nature. What a spiritual power!
I can hear him faintly humming in the background... Beautiful.
His humming makes this piece more humane, it's almost as if he was right here. One of my favorites, I love it...
Grazie Marcello, danke Bach, thank you Gould. Very grateful for upload. Thank you all.
I love you, Glenn.
I love you too Freddee
With a nod to JBS...😁t
Gould's humming is like those anti-forgery holograms they put on paper money. Gould's stamp of authenticity!
Damn, that's a good one...
speechless...
Gould's humming is like the audio version of those holographic seals their put on Windows CDs. The humming is Gould's stamp of authenticity.

GG's humming makes it more daunting

Learning that Bach had transcribed this lovely oboe concerto for piano is the one and only pleasure to be gained from reading that infernal book...

bach and Gould... a dream!
This piece is actually a transcription from a concerto by Marcello.
Is not an actually transcrition, is a transcrition by Bach after Marcello.

974/Johann Sebastian BACH: Adagio, BWV 974

He told critic Heywood Jablome of the Kansas City Star, "I hum because I simply cannot remember the words."
He was brilliant in every way.
