This movie is a masterclass in scriptwriting. It's literally used in film classes as an example of how to write a great film script. Set-ups, payoffs, foreshadowing, character development, building conflicts and tension, delivering with satisfying resolutions...its such an amazing movie.
@@joseheilmeyer Disney doesn't own Back To The Future. When regarding a reboot, writer/director, Robert Zemeckis, has also mentioned "Oh, God no. That can’t happen until both Bob and I are dead. And then I’m sure they’ll do it, unless there’s a way our estates can stop it. I mean, to me, that’s outrageous. Especially since it’s a good movie. It’s like saying ‘Let’s remake Citizen Kane. Who are we going to get to play Kane?’ What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?”
One of my favorite bits of trivia is about the scene in the car. Thing is that Tom Wilson, the actor who plays Biff, is an absolute sweetheart irl. In fact, he was actually bullied in school himself, so he found the character difficult to play. During the scene when he’s forcing himself onto Lorraine, he was apologizing nonstop to Leah Thompson in between takes.
Well heck, at the time this was filmed, I dont know if I would be able to keep my hands off Leah Thompson. She was so damn pretty, I had the biggest crush on her when this movie was out! Yes, I'm that old. Child of the 80's here!
Fun fact: One of the writers of "Back to the Future" first got the idea for the movie when he came across his dad's old yearbook. He and his dad had gone to the same high school and he began to wonder whether he would've even been friends with his dad if they had met as teenagers.
@@crayzeewhorse It was! From what I understand, that was only really early in development but, yeah, they thought about Doc making the time machine out of an old fridge! Then, they realized that if it looked too much like a fridge it might encourage kids to climb inside their fridges at home (which would obviously be dangerous). But, I think Bob Zemeckis (the director/co-writer) always kinda wanted it to be a vehicle, anyway. So, I don't think the fridge idea lasted very long.
@@crayzeewhorse Everything can be made into a time machine, even a goddamn microwave oven :J Hmm but I remember that there was once a movie in which the time machine was made out of a chair rotating with super fast speed. I can't remember the title though…
A number of fun Easter Eggs in this movie. Most have already been mentioned (Twin Pines Mall becomes Lone Pine Mall, Huey Lewis rejects Marty's band, etc) but there's another one I don't think has been mentioned yet: The guy who runs the tree farm is named Peabody and his son's name is Sherman - a subtle nod to the old Peabody & Sherman cartoons where Peabody uses his time machine (The Waybac) to teach Sherman history by visiting significant events.
Back to the Future is a perfect movie. Every scene, every moment, every line is either establishing a character, setting up something important later or paying off something from earlier and never comes off as awkward exposition. This movie is cinematic gold.
If you have not done so already - watch the movie Galaxy Quest. Same deal - basically a perfect movie..... amazing, so funny (helps to be an ORIGINAL Star Trek show fan, but not required...)
Exactly. I would also list this one under "perfect movies". So is Empire Strikes Back and so is LotR Return of the King.... I could list a couple more if I think...
@@floyd2222 Galaxy Quest is awesome. Have you seen the documentary Never Surrender? So wholesome. I would love to see someone do a double reaction to both. I really started loving Justin Long even more since I've seen the docu. Ironically he brings a little Marty McFly impression at some part in the docu but I don't wanna spoil too much....
One of my favorite little details from this movie is the name of the mall. Before Marty goes back to '55, the mall is called Twin Pines. But when he comes back to '85 it's called Lone Pine, because Marty ran over one of the pine trees when he arrived in '55.
@@Knight121198 sorry, was kind of an "in joke" to myself - Gwen (Sigourney Weaver) screaming "This episode was badly written!!" Love, love, love Galaxy Quest...
Right? I feel like most reacters don't even notice it. The line that slays me, it's not in this movie, I think it's in BTTF 3, is when Marty says "Great Scott!" and doc says "I know, it's heavy."
I saw this in theaters when it came out back in 1985, I was 7 years old. And I remember when Marty comes back after starting to fade away and sits up, then stands up, people in the theater were clapping and cheering. Great example of the magic of movies. A 10/10 perfect movie.
That's what I've heard too. My wife saw him do standup in Dallas once (before we ever met; not sure why I felt that was relevant to share but here we are), and said he was just super delightful, self-effacing, and just came across like a really great dude.
Just stop asking him the question. (he does a song as part of his comedy about BTTF that's basically a run down of everything people ask him and "stop asking the question" is basically the chorus.
I've spent the better part of 30+ years trying to decide which of the three is my favorite one, and keep coming back to looking at all three as a single movie.
2 & 3 literally are 2 halves of the same movie and were filmed back to back and there are many foreshadowing things in #2 that have a payoff in #3. The end of the first one was not actually planned as a setup for a sequel just as a funny ending
I love them all, but find that 2 dips in the alternative 1985 segment. But it more than makes up for that in the super detailed retrofitting of the 1955 scenes. I have fun with my kids trying to work out how many deloreans exist in 1955 at any given time.
@@mediaserver8265 I love the alternate 1985 Biffworld in the second movie for how dark it gets. It's like It's A Wonderful Life, and I remember it being the only part of the trilogy that actually gave me real anxiety wondering how our heroes were going to get out of the mess they were in. Parts 1 and 3 have fantastic action sequences but I'm never worried for real that everyone won't get out of it okay in the end.
I wouldn't necessarily say the other two are quite as good as the original, but they compliment each other so well that you must watch them all. It's so worth it.
I saw parts 2 and 3 in the theater as a kid. The hype was real, but imo part 2 kills part 3. Both were decent, they just don't match the genius of the original. Look out for Elijah Wood in part 2 btw. 😉
They filmed the scenes of his house near where I grew up. I was about 10 and would ride my bike to watch them film. I met MJF and got his autograph. At the time the title made no sense and it's so cool now that I was able to see them film what is now such a classic movie.
Timeless movie. My mom, who is 93 now, told me when this was new that she thought the movie was made for her generation, and she was surprised I liked it!
It went by super quick because it's considered the perfect screenplay! It's actually used as a teaching model in film school, or so I've been told, because it's so tight and perfectly paced and every single little thing that's introduced in the beginning gets a payoff at the end. It's the epitome of _satisfying._
I've never heard that about this movie before, that's cool! It reminds me a lot of why I appreciate any Timothy Zahn novels; setups, pacing, and payoffs.
@@sandwiched I am a fount of useless knowledge about this trilogy. Like how Bob Gale (I think... it's either him, Zemeckis, or Spielberg) had the Mr. Fusion turned into a table top lamp that's in his office now. lol
Kind of makes me wonder how much influence this movie had on Edgar Wright, because that's just how he writes. Hot Fuzz is a worthy successor to the crown.
@@mguerra79 Yep. Part of why they thought twice about it was the fear of kids climbing inside of fridges and suffocating. As it is MJF had to do PSAs to tell kids NOT to hold on to the back of vehicles while riding a skateboard. lol
YES, YES, YES, PLEASE tell me you're planning on doing the whole trilogy lol. Also while you're (hopefully) reading this I'd like to highly recommend a couple non marvel movies being Tron Legacy and The Martian.
Tron Legacy, if you watch it, will make you wish Daft Punk writes the score for EVERY movie ever. It's a great movie made better because of its music. The Martian is INCREDIBLE and the book is great too. If Project Hail Mary (one of the author's follow-ups) is done well, it will be even better.
@@howardbalaban7051 Yea I was gonna recommend The Martian in his Interstellar vid but forgot. And Yea I just rewatced Tron Legacy and was tryna find some reactions and not many ppl do it, it's sad cuz I think it came out way ahead of it's time and ppl don't know much about it but it's honestly one of my favorite movies, wish someone would turn it into a mini-series too.
@@folcotook3049 Yea that's also smthn I havnt done despite how much I love Legacy 😅, think just cause of the age difference and how some people have said it's kinda slow, but if it is directly connected (story wise/same universe) then I'll have to sit down to it.
@@folcotook3049 Agreed. Watching Tron should be required for anyone whose a fan of anything CGI. Arguably, without Tron, the creation of Pixar is significantly delayed, and who knows what that might have meant.
FYI - make sure you stop at "To be Concluded" at the end of the 2nd movie (assuming your watching it lol) to aviod a light spolier look at the 3rd movie. Always enjoy the reactions!! Fun Fact: the crew put real booze in the flask unknown to MJF. so spitting it out was a real unexpected thing they kept in the movie
It’s actually not the same take, if you watch the blooper reel you’ll see he reacts completely different to the real booze and doesn’t bend over to spit it out like he does in the movie. Both camera setups used in the movie are the same reaction. As fun as fact as it would be, it’s only a blooper.
Honestly, it always made perfect sense to me that the teenage Lorraine would be drawn to Marty (besides the obvious fact that she has a bit of a Florence Nightingale complex, as Doc points out). Because Lorraine is completely unaware that Marty's her future son, she would naturally feel drawn to him for reasons she wouldn't understand. Of course, the actual reasons are that she's seeing bits of herself (things she finds comforting and familiar) alongside bits of George (someone she will one day fall in love with). So, that combination of seemingly inexplicable familiarity, paired with traits she finds attractive would create the perfect storm for her to misunderstand the connection between them. It's only after she kisses Marty and gets weird vibes that she realizes the connection she's feeling isn't actually something romantic/sexual (but, more familial).
Now... sick thought here, BUT, I wonder if at any time when George and Lorraine first started going out after this, if Lorraine ever fantasized about Marty. Like, George is giving her the business but she calls out Marty's name by mistake... I'll see myself out now.
Parts 2 & 3 were written together, filmed at the same time, then released a year apart. There are so many connections between the two movies, it's like one movie almost. Just like the first movie where you can watch it ten times and pick up something new each time, it's the same with 2 & 3. You'll love it.
Parts 2 and 3 actually are one movie. The story they came up with became too big to fit into the running time of one move, so they made the decision to split it into 2 separate movies.
The song Marty was playing near the beginning was "The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis and the News. During his audition, the guy that stood up with the bullhorn and said, "Sorry, guys, but you're just too darned loud" was Huey Lewis, the actual singer of that song lol
The most clever part of the trilogy is that the sequels use B-roll of the original so you get perfect continuity where the scenes overlap. It’s a brilliant bit of filmmaking.
And actually, no, they don't. everything you see that is not exact clips from the first one had to be reshot scene by scene. Fun fact, they were getting desperate because no one could find Loraine's dress I believe there were two or three copies, and Lea Thomson saved the day because she kept one and brought it to the set.
@@t0nito Yep. When you watch them side by side you can see the differences between the scenes too. Mostly it's just slightly different line delivery but it's noticable
This movie is a good reflection of the progression of time. I remember when I was a kid I'd laugh at my parents when they'd remember stuff from the 50s. Now my kids laugh when I remember stuff from the 80s. Definitely one of ye greatest movies of all time. So far ahead of its time.
Each movie has a real life musician/band - BTTF 1 - Huey Lewis plays as the music teacher BTTF 2 - Flea (from Red Hot Chili Peppers) plays as "Needles" BTTF 3 - ZZ Top plays as the 1885 band I just love this movie trilogy since its first release!

One lovely thing I noticed on rewatch is that almost every character gets a sick introduction: 1. Marty - no facial reveal until after he’s shown to be a skateboarder, rock star. 2. Doc - only his inventions and his voice for the first 15 minutes. Then badass DeLorean intro. 3. Young Loranne - only her voice at first, then the reveal that she’s smoking hot after knowing her middle aged version. Even Biff and George get fun reveals as their younger selves. Great film.
@Alex_Hefner's_TV_&_Movie_Vault get unpumped, so it won't be so disappointing The whole concept of "good" sequels is still rather new. The older the movies you go, the less likely sequels will stand up to the test of time. No argument, this movie was great, but what followed ...
The fun thing about this trilogy is that they go back to back, with each one starting where the last left off. You could edit them into one long movie. Marty has a rough few days 😂
I've actually done that. It's pretty awesome. I also have a chronological (of sorts) edit that I made. It makes it an interesting way to view the trilogy.
Fun fact for those who may not know, Robert Zemeckis, the director of these films is lithuanian! He wasn't born in lithuania but his father is lithuanian. I'm sure that not only me, but other lithuanians are very proud that we have so many talented people who share the same roots 🇱🇹
Interesting bit of trivia: Originally, that ending was not meant to lead into a sequel, but rather was meant to be one of those "oh, here we go again" moments. The people loved it so much, though, that it was decided they would make a sequel after that. The script turned out to be too long for one movie, so they cut it into two parts and made a trilogy instead. The third movie then came out very shortly after the second as a result
Soooo many little things to find in these movies after re-watches. For instance, the Mall's name at the beginning of the movie is 'Twin Pines Mall' and when Marty goes into the past he runs over a pine tree escaping the farmer that's shooting at him. At the end of the movie when he returns to the present the name is 'Lone Pine Mall'.
They didn't plan on making a sequel at the time this came out. It was such a huge hit that the studio wanted sequals. They shot 2 and 3 at the same time. Overall, this is one of the greatest movies ever made and one of the greatest trilogies of all time. You will love the next 2.
This made my day, as someone who grew up watching these types of movies we sometimes worry that some of the things we enjoy become unrelatable. Seeing someone from the newer generations enjoying the film with as much enthusiasm as I did growing up really puts a nice spark in the day.
I've watched this movie at least 30 or 40 times in my life and the scene where Marty stops disappearing and gets back up during Earth Angel always gives me the chills.
If you pay attention, in the beginning of the movie the shopping mall is called Twin Pines Mall, but when Marty goes back in time he runs over one of the pines in the farm and then when he goes back to the future the name is changed to Lone Pine Mall There's a million things like that in the trilogy, which makes so enjoyable to rewatch over and over again
You're noticing so much more details and background than most that's why this movie is great to watch multiple times. Heads up there's Easter eggs connecting all three movies within each other
You may have caught this, but when Marvin Berry calls his cousin “Chuck” - the song Marty is playing is Chuck Berry’s song “Johnny B Goode” - meaning Marty is the reason we have that song in the present.
Another actor played Marty ( Eric Stoltz). The film was nearly completed when Spielberg watched a ruff cut and was not happy. The actor was fired and replaced byFox. They re shot Marty’s scenes and used scenes that were already shot. Somewhere in a studio vault is a 1st cut of this movie.

My absolute favourite detail about the movie, is that the flux capacitor wasn't supposed to work.. the thing he drew after hitting his head was not a bright idea, it was actually just the pathways in front of the city hall in downtown hill valley, its 1:1 the same design. but somehow he made it work..
The movie on the marquee is "Orgy American Style," from 1973. It starred George "Buck" Flower, who also played the drunk on the bus bench at the end of this movie. The Back to the Future movies all have "inside jokes" related to movies in the background.
Like all good trilogies, people have their preferred films within, some prefer 1 over 2&3, others 2&3 over 1 and 1&2 over 3, but you watch all 3 together... perfection! It's the perfect beginning > middle > end!
This was the first film I saw in the cinema, way back in 1985 (maybe 86, not sure, i was smol). Absolute classic and I think I've seen it at least 50 times since. Absolutely brilliant, perfect screenplay, not a wasted shot and brilliant performances.
This film is one of the best films of all time, no question. The story, script, pacing, cast... it's all just pure gold. Thanks for the awesome reaction!
Dude this was so entertaining growing up with this movie seeing it a hundred times and watching you watch it in 30 minutes for the first time was really cool. Do this for II and III
Saw this in the theater when it was brand new and when George knocks Biff out, the eruption from the audience was insane. On par with the bump Captain America had with Endgame (no spoilers there, but if you know the moment, then you know). Such a great film and such a fun reaction. Fun fact: My dad's high school senior picture resembles George McFly more than I think he'd care to admit. No, I'm not as cool as Marty. One more thing: "You guys are just too darn loud" - the teacher with the megaphone shutting down Marty's band at the auditions was played by HUEY LEWIS, the very guy whose music (and megahit song "The Power of Love") and the song Marty's band was beginning to play for the audition, was featured throughout the movie. I hope you complete this trilogy. It really is a fun watch. Keep 'em comin'!
The guy who says "You're just too darn loud" is actually Huey :Lewis, as in Huey Lewis and the News, who wrote "Power of Love". I always thought that was a hysterical cameo.
Thanks for sharing your reaction Alex!! I grew up with this movie but watching you react to it, it's like I'm watching it for the first time all over again. Your insights at the end are very astute as well. They legitimately don't make movies like this anymore, and probably never will.
Man, I wish i could watch this movie for the first time again. For me it’s pretty much a perfect film. It’s fun, the script is tight, the characters are perfectly set, the vfx still hold up... this movie is honestly one of my favorites. Right up there in my top 3.
22:39 I met the Sax player here Tommy Thomas when I was a kid, he was a music teacher at the College my mom went to and met him during an art showcase she was doing and introduced me to him because I was a huge Back to the Future fan.
The whole trilogy is great! I do have to say, I think the 3rd one is the best and believe you’d really enjoy that one the most as well. I think I speak for everyone when I say we all look forward to you watching the other two!! Such timeless and unique movies. Love your stuff man. Keep up the good work!
The creator of Rick and Morty used BTTF "Doc and Marty" as inspiration for his show. The families are a bit different but Jerry was definitely inspired by pre-time travel George McFly. Also, Christopher Lloyd (Doc) did some short promos as Rick Sanchez for adult swim.
I'm so glad you enjoyed this! One of the best classic movies ever and the trilogy is great and all tie in as well. Back to the future 2 is normally everyone's fav!
The first time you watch this movie, it's a great time. The billionth time you watch this movie, it's an even better time. I still can't believe you're older than me and you never saw some of these classics as a child xD
The first scene with his mom in the past always brings to mind a Futurama quote now. "Oh, lessons about not changing the past from Mr. I'm my own grandpa..."
A perfect film, and a great reaction! I was a kid in the 80’s and this movie was a big deal. I was 8 years old when “back to the future 2” came out, my grandpa took me and my brothers to the theatre when it was just coming out. Later that night I remember calling my dad super excited because they tease part 3 at the end and I wanted to tell him… and pre internet that kind of surprise was cool.
I can remember going to see this in the theater with one of my friends when it was released in 1985. I was 12 (and a half) years old, and it is STILL one of my most favorite movies ever. An absolute classic.
This is one of the tightest scripts in existence--almost EVERYTHING serves a purpose, whether it be for the plot (the "save the clock tower" flyer), characterization (he can't take that kind of rejection), a callback joke (twin pines versus lone pine), or even a reference to another movie (the CRM114). There's a reason this script is taught in film school, because it is SO DAMN GOOD.
What I love in this film is all the detail ex: Twin Pines Mall becomes the Lone Pine Mall in the future because Marty ran over one of the two Pines at the Peabody farm on his trip back to 1955.
It's just one of the best movies of all time, it's perfect. There's not a single missed beat. Every joke lands perfectly, every performance is magnificent, every single moment is just masterfully crafted. Just an all around great movie. The other two films weren't as good, but they weren't bad.
I grew up in the 80s and 90s in a rural area, and the one thing I always would have loved would be to be 15 in NYC in 1977. I feel like that would be just about perfect.
27:37 Marty does indeed get to "go back early" and try to warn Doc, but he isn't able to; fortunately, he doesn't need to verbally warn him, since Doc decides to tape Marty's message back together again so that he can read it after all; he consequently wears a bulletproof vest to the Twin Pines Mall --- or rather, the Lone Pine Mall --- and thus he is not killed when the terrorists show up. :D
Growing up in the 80s and 90s in Vancouver, Canada, Michael J Fox was a massive star from Burnaby, right next door. I remember as a kid watching Family Ties with my babysitter, who had a huge crush on him. Unfortunately, illness prevented him from being an even bigger star in the 90s.
Yes, you should watch all 3 movies. One of the few franchises where every movie was actually good. The writing and casting of this movies makes it timeless.
Just found out Tom Wilson didnt think he got the role of Biff after the audition (and he actually didnt) he said he would have been happy just to be a member. Now I cant imagine anyone else do it.
Back to the Future is amazingly perfect trilogy. All three movies equally great on their own, but telling one circled story with parallels and callbacks. You have to see all three to fully appreciate how great it is
The guy who said the music was just too loud was Huey Lewis, from the band 'Huey Lewis and the News'. That was literally his song (The Power of Love) that Marty was playing. That's also them singing "Back in Time".
YAY!! This is so good, omg. And yes, part 2 and 3 are really good too. Keep an eye out for the things you can tell inspired Endgame, there are some obvious things in part 2 especially that you'll notice were the inspiration for big plot sections in Endgame, but the Back to the Future trilogy is where it started. Also, fun trivia - but the teacher at 3:45 that says, "you're just too darn loud" is played by Huey Lewis, the singer/songwriter who performed the "that's the power of love" song in the movie. Funny little easter egg.
4:56 Yes, that's an actual adult film from the 70s. The title is a parody of an old TV series "Love, American Style". Apparently the male lead in the film plays a homeless person in BTTF Part II.
Great that you're finally getting around to watching these, you probably didn't notice a very young Billy Zane as one of Biff's crew, looking forward to seeing your reaction to the rest of the trilogy ⏰️👍
I guess Alex didn't notice some of the other changes to the timeline as well. For example: The part at 6:35 you see it's named "Twin Pines Mall". Well, Marty ran over 1 of them when he went back to the past (not shown in this video). At 29:34 when the "Marty from the Past" returns to the mall, it's now named "Lone Pine Mall". You will obviously see in Back to the Future: Part II but that's just another example of the multiple timelines and even minor changes that happen due to Marty (well, some unintentional ones). It also proves all these changes can lead to different alternate timelines, which some are better and others worse. The Back To The Future series is one of those that watching it multiple times, you will notice other things you missed on previous viewings.
I personally love the whole trilogy. They are all very well done and entertaining, but my favorite is BTTF III. Basically because I love that particular movie genre. Here’s where I vote for the entire trilogy, definitely do it. ♥️✌🏼😎 🕳🐇
I don't know if you noticed but in the beginning of the movie, Marty meets Docs at the "Twin Pines Mall" parking lot, but when Marty goes back in to 1955 and drives away from that barn he crashed in he runs over 1 of two trees, and then at the end of the movie when he goes back to the future the sign says "Lone Pine Mall". There are a ton of other small changes like this that you have to re-watch multiple times to catch them all. IMO BTTF 2 and 3 are just below BTTF 1 simply because the first is the original, but all three are amazing movies and when you watch them back to back to back its a very nice experience
One of my favorite movies for easter eggs. The homeless guy in 1985 was the mayor in 1955. Obviously Goldie Wilson was sweeping floors in 1955 and becomes mayor in 1985. In the opening credits one of the clocks has a man hanging from it, by the end we see doc hanging from a clock.
About Back to the Future 3: The get the maximum out of the humor in that movie, you should watch "Goin' South" (1981, Jack Nicholson) and "Time After Time" (1979, Malcolm McDowell). Those were Mary Steenburgen's first and second films, and a lot if not most of the humor surrounding her character in BttF3 (she's the third lead) calls back to those two films. The first is a Western and the second is a time travel story, and BttF3 is in great part a tribute to both those movies. It stands up fine on its own, but the humor has a lot of levels, so FYI.
29:33 one of my favorite easter eggs of all times. "Lone Pine Mall" In the original past it was called "Twin Pine Mall" but when Marty went back in time he ran over one of the pine trees.
The guy who rejects Marty for being too loud is Huey Lewis, the actual singer of that song, The Power of Love

Fun fact: One of the writers of "Back to the Future" first got the idea for the movie when he came across his dad's old yearbook. He and his dad had gone to the same high school and he began to wonder whether he would've even been friends with his dad if they had met as teenagers.
i never knew that, but that's really sweet :)
Also wasn't the time machine supposed to be a fridge?
@@crayzeewhorse It was! From what I understand, that was only really early in development but, yeah, they thought about Doc making the time machine out of an old fridge! Then, they realized that if it looked too much like a fridge it might encourage kids to climb inside their fridges at home (which would obviously be dangerous). But, I think Bob Zemeckis (the director/co-writer) always kinda wanted it to be a vehicle, anyway. So, I don't think the fridge idea lasted very long.
@@crayzeewhorse Everything can be made into a time machine, even a goddamn microwave oven :J
Hmm but I remember that there was once a movie in which the time machine was made out of a chair rotating with super fast speed. I can't remember the title though…
@@bonbonponyThat's the original Time Machine by H G Wells...written in 1895!
A number of fun Easter Eggs in this movie. Most have already been mentioned (Twin Pines Mall becomes Lone Pine Mall, Huey Lewis rejects Marty's band, etc) but there's another one I don't think has been mentioned yet:
The guy who runs the tree farm is named Peabody and his son's name is Sherman - a subtle nod to the old Peabody & Sherman cartoons where Peabody uses his time machine (The Waybac) to teach Sherman history by visiting significant events.
I also like the scene where Doc Brown says, "How did they find me?" while his name is literally on the truck in the parking lot. LOL!
This trilogy is a timeless masterpiece

Oh yes it is, lol. The third one was my least favourite as a kid, and as I get older, I appreciate it a lot more. It's my favourite one now, lol.
Back to the Future is a perfect movie. Every scene, every moment, every line is either establishing a character, setting up something important later or paying off something from earlier and never comes off as awkward exposition. This movie is cinematic gold.
Yep. All true
If you have not done so already - watch the movie Galaxy Quest. Same deal - basically a perfect movie..... amazing, so funny (helps to be an ORIGINAL Star Trek show fan, but not required...)

Favorite little easter egg is the Twin Pines Mall becoming the Lone Pine Mall at the end, cuz Marty ran over Old Man Peabody's pine tree.
One of my favorite little details from this movie is the name of the mall. Before Marty goes back to '55, the mall is called Twin Pines. But when he comes back to '85 it's called Lone Pine, because Marty ran over one of the pine trees when he arrived in '55.
It's gotten to the point where the changes in the timeline in the first movie are labeled as "Twin pines timeline" and "Lone pine timeline".

I saw this in theaters when it came out back in 1985, I was 7 years old. And I remember when Marty comes back after starting to fade away and sits up, then stands up, people in the theater were clapping and cheering. Great example of the magic of movies. A 10/10 perfect movie.
The actor that plays Biff is the exact opposite of his character. He's very kind and gracious toward the fans of BTTF.
That's what I've heard too. My wife saw him do standup in Dallas once (before we ever met; not sure why I felt that was relevant to share but here we are), and said he was just super delightful, self-effacing, and just came across like a really great dude.
Just stop asking him the question.

that's a great way to look at it!
That's pretty much the case one long movie that picks up where the previous part left off
2 & 3 literally are 2 halves of the same movie and were filmed back to back and there are many foreshadowing things in #2 that have a payoff in #3.
Parts 1 and 3 have fantastic action sequences but I'm never worried for real that everyone won't get out of it okay in the end.
I wouldn't necessarily say the other two are quite as good as the original, but they compliment each other so well that you must watch them all. It's so worth it.
It’s amazing, you could easily cut them all into a single long movie.
I mean, in the end it is a single movie, only split into 3 parts.

Your mom was old when the movie came out.

Fun Fact: the crew put real booze in the flask unknown to MJF. so spitting it out was a real unexpected thing they kept in the movie
I hated seeing that spoiler.
It’s actually not the same take, if you watch the blooper reel you’ll see he reacts completely different to the real booze and doesn’t bend over to spit it out like he does in the movie. Both camera setups used in the movie are the same reaction. As fun as fact as it would be, it’s only a blooper.
Yes, good advice!!!
@@RyoHazuki224 Eww! Fair point, but EWW! 🤣

During his audition, the guy that stood up with the bullhorn and said, "Sorry, guys, but you're just too darned loud" was Huey Lewis, the actual singer of that song lol
that such a cool easter egg
The most clever part of the trilogy is that the sequels use B-roll of the original so you get perfect continuity where the scenes overlap. It’s a brilliant bit of filmmaking.
sounds cool!
I never knew that wondered how they got different angles of the scenes to look exactly like the original.. Without giving anything away
Spoilers anyone?
And actually, no, they don't. everything you see that is not exact clips from the first one had to be reshot scene by scene. Fun fact, they were getting desperate because no one could find Loraine's dress I believe there were two or three copies, and Lea Thomson saved the day because she kept one and brought it to the set.
@@t0nito Yep. When you watch them side by side you can see the differences between the scenes too. Mostly it's just slightly different line delivery but it's noticable

No argument, this movie was great, but what followed ...
As Sean_Campbell said, "worth a look", but don't expect greatness.
The fun thing about this trilogy is that they go back to back, with each one starting where the last left off. You could edit them into one long movie. Marty has a rough few days 😂
that's pretty crazy
Ah the good ol days where sequels were actually good
They actually added the “to be continued” line on the VHS release.
This movie is a far more accurate representation of marksmanship than most movies. It’s hard to hit things with bullets. Especially moving things.
it is!
If you pay attention, in the beginning of the movie the shopping mall is called Twin Pines Mall, but when Marty goes back in time he runs over one of the pines in the farm and then when he goes back to the future the name is changed to Lone Pine Mall
There's a million things like that in the trilogy, which makes so enjoyable to rewatch over and over again

It was hilarious watching this with my mom. She always says Great Scot too and just before Doc would say it in the movie she would say it. 😂
The guy who says "You're just too darn loud" is actually Huey :Lewis, as in Huey Lewis and the News, who wrote "Power of Love". I always thought that was a hysterical cameo.

Two pine mall changes to Lone pine mall bcs Marty runs over one pine in the past :>
Yes, you should watch all 3 movies. One of the few franchises where every movie was actually good. The writing and casting of this movies makes it timeless.
Alex: "I'm a lawyer."
Inbox: Floods with legal questions and asking for advice.
Alex: "Well...shit."
haha right
Just found out Tom Wilson didnt think he got the role of Biff after the audition (and he actually didnt) he said he would have been happy just to be a member.
Now I cant imagine anyone else do it.
Thanks so much for reacting to this! The beginning of one of the BEST TRILOGIES EVER. PLEASE react to the other two, thanks and enjoy!
Einstein was his dog in 1985. His dog in 1955 is Copernicus. 14:21
Back to the Future is amazingly perfect trilogy. All three movies equally great on their own, but telling one circled story with parallels and callbacks. You have to see all three to fully appreciate how great it is
"YES! YES! NO INCEST!" 😂
That made me laugh so hard! 🤣🤣🤣👍
total relief!
And I was a teen in the 80’s… we had as much fun and partied as much as the 20 year olds! It was a blast.
They even pay homage to BTTF by having Scott and Tony mention it when discussing time travel
Youve never looked so happy shouting out "No incest!". Made my day.
This is the perfect movie. Congrats on finally getting to it!
yep we made it!
I absolutely love this movie, and watching you experience it for the first time, really gave new life to it for me! Keep up the awesome content!
The Back To The Future series is one of those that watching it multiple times, you will notice other things you missed on previous viewings.
definitely didn't catch that!
@@alexhefnerstvmovievault I have a lone pine mall t-shirt :D
I personally love the whole trilogy. They are all very well done and entertaining, but my favorite is BTTF III. Basically because I love that particular movie genre. Here’s where I vote for the entire trilogy, definitely do it. ♥️✌🏼😎
🕳🐇
Perfect trilogy... I actually prefer 3 over 2 but nothing is bad
Just remember, when you watch 2, don't watch the credits as it spoils 3 a little...
gotchu!
@@alexhefnerstvmovievault nice to see the real you reply, ive reported about 6 fake ones this last day or so!
How can a man of your age not have seen Back to the Future until this day??
One of my all time favorites. Hard to describe what the experience of watching this at a theater in 1985 was like but magical.
29:33 one of my favorite easter eggs of all times.
"Lone Pine Mall" In the original past it was called "Twin Pine Mall" but when Marty went back in time he ran over one of the pine trees.
