i came down to hide in the comments cause old women are the horror trope that scares me the most...and your comment is the first one i see what the fuck?
I love this movie. Too bad it didn't get a sequel. This movie was banned in many countries because of how it depicts people with Alzheimers as scary and weird. I have seen this movie maybe 20 times already. That swallowing scene is totally worth it. Great reaction!
I mean it’s pretty clear that they THOUGHT it was Alzheimer’s when it was actually something else entirely. I see what they’re saying, but I don’t think it’s actually depicting a woman with Alzheimer’s at all.
funnily enough my friend asked me how exactly alzheimer’s kills people and i quoted this movie almost verbatim. i appreciate that it was educational and also made very clear that it wasn’t actually alzheimer’s afflicting deborah.
Sarah is such a great, relatable character - she just wants to help her mom however she can. She really made this movie for me. Absolutely incredible acting from her and everyone else in the cast
I rewatched this movie not too long ago. My grandma passed away early this year and she suffered badly from Alzheimers. Watching this again made me realize how realistic some of the things she does. My grandma when she was stills physically strong would freak me tf out. Seeing her on top of tables. Her screaming bloody murder at people. Attacking me with a knife. I had to childproof the entire house. But even though she scared me a lot of times, I was really sad for her. Dementia is no joke.
Me and my sister took care of my grandma back in 2018 when she had Alzheimer’s and it was horrible. I feel your pain. We also watched this when we took care of her (not with her but during that time) and the movie was even more horrifying because of the circumstances!
The daughter's attitude at the beginning is so realistic. I've been a frustrated caregiver and the situation where you're totally pissed because you personally have been dealing with stuff but you have to plaster a smile on and be like "great fine!" and you're just over it is such a real thing and familiar.
Man some of yall are just resilent,, I could not imagine watching this movie after losing a loved one to Alzheimers. Sorry for your loss ❤🩹stay strong🤞
@@hanonondricek411 I agree. The daugter's actress did amazing portraying what it's like taking care of someone with alzheimers. You can see the stress and exhaustion from her but she keeps pushing coz she wants her mother to be taken care of. I feel like this movie is underrated.
@@JN52890 True. The first time I watched this movie was years ag, I was not aware of how realistic her symptoms are. The actors did an amazing job. Especially the mom. The glare she does while her hands were being cleaned was so accurate. That's how my grandma glares at people she felt she couldn't trust for the moment.
What’s funny is that actress used to be in a soap opera my mom always watched when I was younger (All my Children.) and she’s this super nice southern lady in that show. It was wild seeing her in this
@@WoahLookAtThatFreak to me it's not the fear of the elderly in this movie, its more the fear and dread of dementia/alzhimers It's a nightmarish disease
I really have to shoutout the main actress for making Deborah so damn scary! Growing old and having our own bodies betray our minds is some scary themes! And heartbreaking, like you said. It's very sad. But the main actress is really spectacular at being likeable AND frightening!
Yeah I felt like the ending of the movie was a letdown but Deborah's actress was great. And it was also neat how she's essentially the "villain" of the movie but by the end you feel sympathy for her once you find all the pieces.
The scene where she's talking in the mirror was so subtle but effective. It was so small, but she did so much with very slight changes in posture and expression. Looking back at it knowing what you know after a first watch makes it even better.
As an ex care worker working with Alzheimer’s & dementia,it’s actually scary at how some bits are very realistic as people with this diagnosis can be violent & unpredictable but they are also the most loveliest people around! They depict it well as it’s meant to be a horror movie not a documentary,I’ve been attacked a few times, they are also ridiculously strong, but they are also very funny & kind! It’s also very sad to see them deteriorate. I’m now a stay at home mum to my 6 month old daughter,I do think that type of job prepared me for motherhood 🥴😂!! Thank you for reacting to this xx
this movie is such a gem. i remember seeing the gifs of deb eating the child on tumblr and going WELL. guess im gonna have to watch this! it does not disappoint. all the characters that we care about survive to the end which is rare, EVEN DEB. so much love for this movie and your editing was great

recently watched this movie again and as i'm currently taking care of my grandma with alzheimers, i was freaked out. grandma was not a nice lady in her life and as she started to battle with dementia, while being physically strong and capable, it turned into a very bad situation. Knives, screaming, agressive outbursts, searching, replacing then forgetting about her things and simple but brutal staring... scary.
Don't know why, but the scene where she's just sitting at the piano, creepy face, looking straight into your soul in the dark for several uncomfortable seconds really broke me. The only moment in the whole movie where I had to look away. Jill Larson did a phenomenal job in this movie.
I used to care for my Grandma with Alzheimer's before she passed. She loved the piano her whole life and it was one of the few skills she was fully capable of even until the end. I did go into a coma last February from Flu-B and bacterial pneumonia. It's really scary for the first year afterwards and no one told me that I can remember. There's memory issues, there's weird issues with OLD memories and the recall. There's issues with following simple or complex instructions. But art has become great. And appreciated more. 😂.
