    This is the type of video I like. Lots of orchid channels just show their hauls but what is important is how their hauls performed after a year.

    Beautiful orchids, I am surprised that in one year you had such vigorous growth. You are doing some thing correct. Keep up the good works. The price you pay was a steel. I am in South Florida, I have my Catts snd potinara growing for the past two years. No blooms yet. Just vigorous growth. I am being patient. In the orchid world got to have patience. I have moved them around for this summer. I will keep u posted when they bloom.Cheers and happy growing 💕💕💕

      Thanks so much! Yes the price was great, especially when you factor in that some of these bloomed so quickly! It requires patience but it's worth it sometimes to get smaller orchids. Thanks for watching 💖

    I bought Volcano Delight and Mari’s Glory from Carmela’s about 2 months ago. I repotted the MG and she recently started pushing out new roots like crazy. I left the VD in the original pot because the roots were hugging the bark tightly and there was still room for the rhizome to extend. She is currently giving me a new growth. Looking forward to seeing how these orchids progress. Thanks for the video!

    I like how organized your orchids are. And wow, good price on the orchids! I watched your Haussermann haul and placed an order right away. I bought some orchids from orchid web in April and they were very spendy, like $50 per orchid, now I wish I had saved that money and used it more wisely. Thanks for sharing.

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the nice comment! I really like Hausermann, but if you don't mind which orchids you get and want a variety of new cattleyas, Vandas or Dendrobiums, you really can't beat the price at Carmela's. I highly recommend them. I think that place and Sunset Valley Orchids is why I have so many orchids 😅 Svo is great too. Happy growing 💗

    Volcano Delight is a "medium" sized Cattleya, I would say your is about 1/2 the size of my mature bulbs and leaves.
    With the Little Stars, I know sacrificing those pots sucks because they aren't cheap. But Little Stars does have a branching root system so you can always cut the roots if you can't get them out and don't want to cut the pot. Now me, I'd just leave it because I'm lazy, it's doing fine and the media is new. If I actually felt like dealing with it, I'd shake out what media I can, cut the pot down either side, then cut around the bottom to remove the sides. Maybe I'd try cutting the bottom to release the roots, maybe I would just leave it. Yes, that answer is a bit wishy washy, I know. I will say if you're going to repot it, do it now. That hybrid will finish growing end of summer, then rest, then bloom around late November, then rest and do nothing until around March.

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Michael! I think I'm gonna leave little stars till next year and be lazy like you lol, I have two other cattleyas that have more roots circling the bottom, in even worse shape. I still haven't gotten through repotting my svo orchids I'm very behind. You know that feeling when you say you're going to repot 20 orchids in one day, then you get stuck with an oncidium that's just a nightmare to deal with and takes 3 hours? That's me right now lol

    • @michaelmccarthy4077
      @michaelmccarthy4077 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NicoleDeanna Oh, you mean the orchids I take out and blast with the hose. And if that doesn't work to free the roots and the media, I just give up, throw it in a pot with some new media around it and call it a day.

    What kind of lights do you use for Cattleya’s
    mine are growing & healthy the Siam jade has flowered ~ its beautiful,but the larger one is called Sanyung Ruby King Kong it’s growing & has really healthy leaves but I think it might need more light .
    And what do you do in the summer with AC , my orchids are in a room I try to keep it warm but the AC drops the temp ~ we have heat mats under three shelf’s to keep soil warm - but I’m not sure if that’s enough or to much .
    Thank you ~ you have given us so much info on orchids ,
    you have a great channel 🦋

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John! Thanks for watching! I use the Orchid Hobbyist lights, they are now rebranded to botanic led lights. My orchids do very well under them. The hoyas as well! I keep the odds in a spare bedroom that I do not air condition, so in the summer it's quite hot in there. I actually sometimes shut the door, but there's a constant fan going. Yesterday it was 94 in there. The cattleyas and phals love it! I also spray them to keep the humidity high. If you have AC on I don't think it'll be a problem, but the humidity will be lower. You could counter that with a daily misting routine. I hope this helps :)

    Maxillaria tenuifolia likes to drink so much water. it would never flower for me, until I put it on my eastern facing windowsill. I thought it needed more light, I would put it outside. It bloomed when just left on the east facing window. I have 2 different specimens, with slightly different flowers and scent. divided it. One is from Silva orchids, a NJ nursery. Brassavola Little Stars for me flowers less than Brassavola nodosa/grandiflora. You seem to grow yours so fast and nice. what fertilizer do you use?

    • @NicoleDeanna

      @@NicoleDeanna I looked at Carmela orchids. I did not see a 68 dollar special. Have prices gone up? Is there a slow release msu fertilizer?
      The Maxillaria tenuifolia sometimes I leave water in the saucer, it will soak it up.
      Species are always written lowercase.
