I'd like to imagine that Radiance Quasi-Elementals are kind of like Navi from the Legend Of Zelda, only less annoying and sort of like pets that you can also have meaningful conversations with. With this in mind, I always adored the image of a Radiance Quasi-Elemental _losing its fucking mind_ trying to comprehend how instantly and violently exploding into a mass of vital energy in the Positive Plane is considered "a bad thing" among the residents of the Material Plane.
A ritual to create an archlich would require, I think, a lot of time gathering resources from the positive energy plane. I'm going to set that up as a character motivation - but I doubt that it'll be accomplished within the scope of a single campaign. But yeah... the neck claw of a ravid... getting the Lumii to craft a an ornamental container decorated with life pearls, for use as a phylactory... throw in some waters from the springs of empyrea and you've got some powerful sources of positive energy.
I had cool imagery cross my mind on this. Picture someone suffering from overhealind ending up all tumorous as his bodies cells grows out of control. Picture disintegrating objects breaking up into tiny living particles.

I'm so happy I found your videos because I otherwise might have gone on not knowing about the Quasi-Elemental planes! One of my players is playing a Forge Cleric and I gave him the ability to make magical weapons and armor (basically things that can be made in a forge) that are appropriate to his level and create new, home brewed magical items through a special process so long as it's not game-breaking or overpowered. He worships Gond, so his long term goal is to have his finest creation displayed in the High House of Wonder. Basically, the knowledge of the Quasi-Elemental Plane of Minerals will be extremely useful to me when he begins to craft his 'magnum opus' and needs a forge better than any found on the material plane. I thank you for getting my mind racing with possibilities!

this got me thinking you know how some planes have element based dragons.. what if they were to breed and create quasi elemental dragons.. which would be really fascinating and you could apply a quasi elemental template to them.which would be really cool.
I'd rule that the "life overload" doesn't occur outside of the Positive Realms because all of life is a sponge for positive energy, so when the targeted sponge can't absorb anymore the surrounding sponges pick up the slack. Think of it like electrical charge, it prefers to seek out the greatest negative charge first, conveniently and simultaneously explaining why healing magic is almost useless in the Negative Realms.

It would be like filling up a bucket with water, if you're on land, excess water can leak out of the bucket; but if you're under an ocean, excess water just becomes pressurized and with enough pressure, would explode even a bucket under water.
@@WesleyMcLain-kj5if To extend on your water vessel analogy. Creatures are self sealing bottles with automatic pumps. Prime material plane is a puddle. Positive energy plane is deep water. Negative energy plane is a desert of some persuasion, probably polar. Put one in the prime material plane and it will fill to a reasonable amount, but never quite reach maximum pressure because the pump isn't particularly good. Put one in the positive energy plane and it will automatically fill due to pressure, and burst open because the pump has no safety limit. Put one in the negative energy plane and the negative pressure will over power the pump, causing the bottle to lose water. (In addition to standard condensation)
So basically, if you are about to lay the smackdown on the BBEG, cast plane shift, drink in the radiance for a few turns and then hop back with 75% more hitpoints and a wicked tan.
You'd have to be suicidal to want to traverse to a plane so uninhabitable and heals you so much that you explode. So glad I didn't go to that plane when the party opened a random portal. Only my Half-Elf sorcerer and a kobold rogue survived that campaign. The other 4 players had to roll completely new characters. Moral of the story, don't jump into strange portals summoned from ancient scrolls. You may just die from positivity.
Just a thought, but people that die from negative energy usually become some undead variant. Could something similar happen with positive energy? a sentient corps? basic immortal? a walking lazzer light bulb?
That steam realm effect you talked about can actually happen in some mines, where the rock is hot because of geothermal heat and there is a lot of water so it condenses in your lungs.
It’s always cool to hear about the D&D planes. They’re so interesting to me because of how detailed and different they are. Even just this video of the Positive Energy plane has so much info because there’s so many things that exist within it. It makes me wonder if the Negative Energy Plane contains as much or if it’s far more empty and barren.
Not necessarily a full adventure idea, but a neat concept. The players have to go into the Positive Energy Plane for one reason or another, but the only Rings of Protection from Positive Energy they can get are cursed to be unremovable so even when they get back, magical healing is off the table.

I see a use of the positive energy plain as a weapon. Or death sentence for characters or npc's who can cast plane shift on characters or npc's who cannot. For instance, a cleric or druid planeshifting a vampire or devil to the positive or radiant plain of existence. The devil given what type might be able to escape, but not before taking some serious damage. The vampire well unless they are some form of caster, would not survive. In my opinion of course. Situations can vary however.
The positive material plane is an excellent place to rapidly heal and get temporary bonus hitpoints,assuming you can get back before your body explodes!
Ok, new inspiration: Positive energy Arcane casters. Wizards and Sorcerers who have undergone a mysterious process, and now may choose to replace the element of any magic they cast with pure Positive energy.
Oh, you can survive the sheer POSITIVITY of this place easily enough, just outfit yourself as if you're on a desert expedition (with an emphasis on sunburn resistance) but replace all the water in your loadout with wyvern poison. You'll die if you sleep, mind, but you don't need to sleep here.
Imagine making an insane wizard who makes short cuts items something he might make would be a ring that would protect you on the positive energy plane by constantly damaging you 😂 and the entire time you were wondering why that ring only cost 10 gold piece
We accidentally sent Vecna here in one of my old campaigns. My character threw a portable hole over the sphere of annihilation that he was standing next. (Dm forgot I had it) needless to say it was an underwhelming end to the boss fight.
Great video, always struggled with how to incorporate this plane in my campaigns and this was an amazing help. I think one of my players debts will only be able to be filled after collecting rare materials and the Mineral plane could be advertised as a way of collecting them.
Finally some energy planes! I used to read about them in Manual in the Planes ALL the time. One of my favorite things to read about. Can Neth, The Plane that Lives be far behind?!

I didn't get if you mentioned the hostel a place were paladins and wizards hang out a nice place for adventurers to stay. I believe a lawful good type place and helpful to goodly characters. I've had an idea for awhile to have Empire that's channeling positive energy. With powerful wizards engaging in inhumane experiments to create monstrous life, slave races, etc. The ironic bit to the idea is that the party would like need Necromancers and liches for allies.
Thanks! I took some inspiration from the Tzimisce from Vampire: the Masquerade. Plus there are a few monsters like the Owlbear that are mentioned as being creation of a wizard, so just tie it all together.
Radiant Empire, that's Great! I guess it would makes sense that there is Positive Elemental Evil force in existence and the Radiant Empire is sliding further into it's embrace.
CatholicDragoon generally that's how it happened in my homebrew. The infinite radiant empire. Are prophesied to one day sunder the ilithid cycle. Being NE they completely turned aside the concept of light = good. And shadow casters and necromancers turn out to be the good guys.
Thank you for doing this strange plane. I really like how they make this positive energy plane inhosopitable. It's like how, irl, we can die from too much oxygen. I think it would be very cool to visit that radiant plane on the edge of the positive energy plane.
Great video TJ Pickett. In my campaigns, Radiance is the daylight, the shine of the nearest star. It is also the element closest to that of a Phoenix (a divine being) uses in its divine fire. I also use the positive energy lightening in that way to back up my versions of Thor and Dr. Frankenstein to make it a force of healing and life-giving. I also used it as a divine way to describe pacts as to why vampires are immune, sage quests and what not. As a side note, flesh golem origin tale even if the party never encountered a flesh golem. Wow... I put way too much thought into my DM'ing. Did you ever consider the other quasi-elements in magical items? I did for the Jewel Sword. It was a super-sharp sword that self-healed when broken while being virtually indestructible with an aura that had a bonus to make gems discovered have a better chance of being higher value. My players, both veteran and new, really underestimated the Jewel Sword. I also had an axe version for a gem-obsessed dwarf who also scoffed at it. Was it the lovely crystal look? It did bring a LOT of attention.
Back in the early years, an item's magical bonus (so, a +3 sword for example) represented the number of elements from different planes of existence that went into its construction. The +3 sword would have steel from Faerun, alloyed with green iron from the Nine Hells and Iron oxide from Acheron. The theory was that the sword overcame the resistance of the things it hit, because it was hitting them multidimensionally.
North Carolina (Where a lot of japanese vegetation grows actually, random bamboo forests and invasive vines) is like that. I moved there from the Midwest. The air was like a blanket, thick, you and everything you have perpetually moist.
Finally. I'm a new DM so I feel like I've missed out on a lot of lore and I'm playing a campaign with an opal dragon and they draw energy from the positive plain but I don't have much information on it. Glad you did this video. Thanks for helping me with my research.

This is quite a bother. Maybe somebody like Asmodeus is already making plans to shunt souls directly into his realm. Pure uncut straight from the source souls, probably end up blowing up a town with a firebolt or making battle ready ogre sized lemures with high intellect and a slavish devotion to their creator. And when they get promoted... woof.

Devils don't break agreements. So the source is safe from them. The other fiends would indeed face immediate retribution for even trying to invade the plane, much less go to a specific area. The fiends are just not allowed to leave their planes for the most part. Which is part of why they court mortals at all. Mortals are one of the few things that can get around the rules. Demons may rage against any rules but the gods don't ask them nicely.
Great video, but it made me realize how little I know about non-angelic celestial beings like lillends, coatls, et cetera. Perhaps you could cover some of these at some point in the future. ☺️

If i remember correctly, there is a sealed gateway to the Postive Energy Plane/Plane of Radiance under one of Orcus' fortresses in Thanatos. Makes me wonder how the corrupting energies of the Abyss would interact/adapt to the constant energy, and what sort of demonic life would spawn from such an interaction. Reminds me of my fascination with the Loumara of The Dreaming Gulf and how, in a way, they reveal what demons possibly would have been like if the Shard of Ultimate Evil was successfully plunged into the Astral Plane.
Traditionally, Angels are some nightmarish looking monsters, they always scare the piss out of anyone they appear before in the bible... so, positive plane + Far Realm = Angelic monsters.

Honestly, I imagine something similar to Ragnorra from the Elder Evils book or Marvel's Cancerverse . Likely, some sort of demon that has light abilities of some sort and constantly regenerates, maybe even having an hp overcap to birth some new horrid monster.
Don't know if you take monster suggestions for vids, but I'd particularly like you to document the most interesting Undead I've yet to find, the Darklights, spirits that were "adopted" by the Plane of Radiance (both very strange given the usual effect on Undead & makes me feel there are very interesting implications there). The only in-depth description I found was from a difficult to work sight called Mojobob, so it seems a shame that there isn't more documentation on something as fascinating as this creature. . . . I'm gonna go make this suggestion to Dungeon Dad too, as it seems to be an older edition monster & something he might be interested in. I hope you enjoy this, and use it to jump-scare your players with lasery/shining doom.
Problematic, as the Positive energy plane is technically a void (no atmosphere), your best bet would be a ritual circle that opens and contains the portal, with a filter point that, with a command word, releases as beam of positive energy.

one of the 2 times i played a planetouched i was a "light" genasi,kindof like a Asimar eccept i drew my heritage from a Radiance elemental instead of a celestial.
is it possible for a PC to lock the soul of an ennemy in one of the eternal jails of the plane of positive energy ? How secure are they ? Can the bad guy's followers retrieve the soul and ressurect him ? Can we mine the quasielemental plane of gems? What should we prepare for a mining expedition here ? Can we bribe the liquid-loving being that live here with fine wine, blood, potions, honey, holy water or other interesting liquids ?
If the undead find it so inhospitable to be in the positive material plane, then how do mummies do it? Mummies are exception to the undead classes, in that they actually get some of their power from the positive material plane, for their mummy rot.
a lich artificer is crafting a mysterious device and has learned various methods of seamlessly siphoning positive planar energy to the material, since he physically can't step foot there he sends in his place exceptionally skilled enslaved minions,aka the party that could go somewhere anyone want to throw some ideas for my campaign
The positive energy plane doesn't care if a being is good or evil, so it is possible to create a Nega-Lich, an evil being kept unnaturally alive by ritually linking themselves to the endless torrent of positive energy, it could be that a Lich, after centuries of research, has discovered how to do this, and they require a living victim that they can magically transfer their soul into (if you want to get creepy with it, it could be that the healing power must be prevented from restoring the brain of the victim, so the skull is sawed open and the brain replaced with a gemstone phylactery, containing the Lich mind, every now and then, a little bit of original brain regrows and the lich will twitch and scream, then punch the gem more firmly down into their skull socket).
Steel Blue Metal I actually have the original Deities and Demigods that was pulled from circulation and redistributed due to copyright infringement....it has the Elric and HPLovecraft mythos in them....Elric is a fucking badass and his blade rocks!

I have a theory. I believe positive energy is what allows magic as we know it to exist, especially raw magic. Positive energy and raw magic seem to have similarities to our modern understanding on Mana, a supernatural life force.
AD&D2e Argument If a Elementalist / conjuguer can cast Chill Touch to draw energy from the Negative Plane of Energy to cause 1d6 necro damage, why can't a mage draw energy from the Positive Energy Plane to heal 1d6 of damage ? Oh, that's right Only Clerics can cast Healing Spells.
It's not the core rules, it's how gods in the game generally want things. In my campaigns, I allow reverse forms of spells that harm to heal if the campaign is godless. The reverse of Chill Touch is Soothing Touch. The reverse of Finger of Death is Finger of Life, a form of Raise Dead that can backfire with the resurrection attempt making the corpse explode. Contagion is actually a positive energy blight (diseases are life). The reverse is Purge, the negative energy form, where the cure of all diseases in the person actually harms the subject much like chemotherapy does with cancer patients in the real world. Homebrew was always encouraged, my friend.
Mages can research mage versions of cleric spells. It would be 2 levels higher than the clerics. A 2nd level cleric spell would be a 5th level spell for the mage. But its affects/effects would be as if it was a 2nd level. So an archmage could make a 7th cleric spell but it would be a 9th level spell for the arcanist. This was a rule up till 3.5 I think. I had a 15th level necromancer that made 1st & 2nd level cleric spells that for him were 3rd & 5th spells. The material cost and research time where horrible. But it was worth it.
Mystics once known as psionics have a power that allows them to evolve their body to withstand any environment similar to the mutant from the X-Men call Darwin they also have an ability in 2nd edition that allows them to take on a form of pure energy as well as a power in most additions that allows them to draw energy from multiple sources to reinvigorate themselves psionic vampirism is one form that this takes there are other forms of it as well if a powerful enough Mystic found their way into the positive energy plane and use those two abilities I would theorize that they would become far more powerful than even some of the Lesser Divine as the plane itself would energize them without the need to worry about becoming over energized and exploding as they could seal the energy bit by bit in two different things for example crystals that hold power points as certain psionic abilities allow you to transfer hit points to power points at a specific rate or Channel all that energy into the creation of Their Own demiplane via the power Genesis in fact if you already had that power and you created a bag of holding or something that a set of working like a normal bag of holding just worked items there you could in theory dump points into crystals while you sit in the positive energy plane and stash them away in your own demiplane as you fill them up
Don't psions rely on the force plain? I always thought its a different one since force isn't realy positive or negative in my mind its a plain that if you try to enter it a random barrage of forces tears you to shreds
But they have unparallel ability to manipulate energy enough variety of different ways this means that fonts of energy like the positive energy plane are extremely useful if you know how to use them or even to utilize energy from them
Well there are a lot of variables, if it was free access to everyone, then the market for minerals would plummet as the saturation of supply would mean people only valued materials for how useful they are, so you could imagine people coating their ship anchors with gold to prevent rust and save space while keeping the needed weight. If only a few have access, they now control the market of whatever resource they bring back with them, but they have to trickle their stockpile of precious materials into the economy or they risk reducing their profits. Aside from that, who knows what sort of wild extraplanar critters could come over if traffic is not carefully regulated and checked. Imagine if some sort of gold eating creature like the Aurumvorax got into the royal treasury and ate all the precious metals? Imagine a plague of Xorn? What if some sort of metal eating moss started to spread around the region? All things to keep in mind.
Thanks, I was thinking of making a plot line where the players are unknowingly hired by a dwarf that was a descendant of a dwarven king that ruled a fallen kingdom that had access to the plane of minerals. The Dwarf would have them find and search the ancient ruins to find what gave them access to the plane and to why the kingdom fell. I was trying to wrap my head around on what the kingdom would've been like.
My old dm had an interesting take on the healing factor of this plane. Even if you prepared for the over healing and vacuum, you couldn't spend much time there or else be killed by any particular disease that may be hitching a ride on you or your gear. Imagine being turned into a mound of moldy fungus, or having your entire body overcome by athletes foot. You literally had to be completely purified by a team of paladins or clerics with purify food and drink over your entire body and gear in the hopes of cleansing your body for your journey. Also, the Lumi are awesome. They're immune to vorpal weapons, because they can't be beheaded...
So it can give you a sunburn, and heal one too much to death, and old gods can hang out. It is like the retirement land of the cosmos as extra sunny, with the general risk of something like sudden magic cancer. The descriptions made it sound that spending a period of time could leave people feeling along the lines of a filthy undead. Also, totally into giving inanimate things life which never should have.
Brilliant. That would give him sun immunity over time. Sunlight is pretty much weak Quasi-Elemental Radiance. I assume you found a way to not make him simply explode by arriving there via the Negative-Positive energy plain clash. Any being without that with any link to the Negative Material Plane disintegrates into an explosion the instant they manifest there.

It would be like filling up a bucket with water, if you're on land, excess water can leak out of the bucket; but if you're under an ocean, excess water just becomes pressurized and with enough pressure, would explode even a bucket under water.

Prime material plane is a puddle.
Positive energy plane is deep water.
Negative energy plane is a desert of some persuasion, probably polar.
Put one in the prime material plane and it will fill to a reasonable amount, but never quite reach maximum pressure because the pump isn't particularly good.
Put one in the positive energy plane and it will automatically fill due to pressure, and burst open because the pump has no safety limit.
Put one in the negative energy plane and the negative pressure will over power the pump, causing the bottle to lose water. (In addition to standard condensation)
So basically, if you are about to lay the smackdown on the BBEG, cast plane shift, drink in the radiance for a few turns and then hop back with 75% more hitpoints and a wicked tan.

You'd have to be suicidal to want to traverse to a plane so uninhabitable and heals you so much that you explode. So glad I didn't go to that plane when the party opened a random portal. Only my Half-Elf sorcerer and a kobold rogue survived that campaign. The other 4 players had to roll completely new characters.
Moral of the story, don't jump into strange portals summoned from ancient scrolls. You may just die from positivity.

That steam realm effect you talked about can actually happen in some mines, where the rock is hot because of geothermal heat and there is a lot of water so it condenses in your lungs.

It’s always cool to hear about the D&D planes. They’re so interesting to me because of how detailed and different they are. Even just this video of the Positive Energy plane has so much info because there’s so many things that exist within it. It makes me wonder if the Negative Energy Plane contains as much or if it’s far more empty and barren.
It is mostly empty and barren, but, there is a security in that which allows things to be hidden away there.
Not necessarily a full adventure idea, but a neat concept. The players have to go into the Positive Energy Plane for one reason or another, but the only Rings of Protection from Positive Energy they can get are cursed to be unremovable so even when they get back, magical healing is off the table.

I see a use of the positive energy plain as a weapon. Or death sentence for characters or npc's who can cast plane shift on characters or npc's who cannot.
For instance, a cleric or druid planeshifting a vampire or devil to the positive or radiant plain of existence. The devil given what type might be able to escape, but not before taking some serious damage. The vampire well unless they are some form of caster, would not survive. In my opinion of course. Situations can vary however.
The positive material plane is an excellent place to rapidly heal and get temporary bonus hitpoints,assuming you can get back before your body explodes!

Great video, always struggled with how to incorporate this plane in my campaigns and this was an amazing help. I think one of my players debts will only be able to be filled after collecting rare materials and the Mineral plane could be advertised as a way of collecting them.

I've had an idea for awhile to have Empire that's channeling positive energy. With powerful wizards engaging in inhumane experiments to create monstrous life, slave races, etc.
The ironic bit to the idea is that the party would like need Necromancers and liches for allies.

Thanks! I took some inspiration from the Tzimisce from Vampire: the Masquerade. Plus there are a few monsters like the Owlbear that are mentioned as being creation of a wizard, so just tie it all together.

Thank you for doing this strange plane. I really like how they make this positive energy plane inhosopitable. It's like how, irl, we can die from too much oxygen. I think it would be very cool to visit that radiant plane on the edge of the positive energy plane.

Great video TJ Pickett. In my campaigns, Radiance is the daylight, the shine of the nearest star. It is also the element closest to that of a Phoenix (a divine being) uses in its divine fire. I also use the positive energy lightening in that way to back up my versions of Thor and Dr. Frankenstein to make it a force of healing and life-giving. I also used it as a divine way to describe pacts as to why vampires are immune, sage quests and what not. As a side note, flesh golem origin tale even if the party never encountered a flesh golem. Wow... I put way too much thought into my DM'ing. Did you ever consider the other quasi-elements in magical items? I did for the Jewel Sword. It was a super-sharp sword that self-healed when broken while being virtually indestructible with an aura that had a bonus to make gems discovered have a better chance of being higher value. My players, both veteran and new, really underestimated the Jewel Sword. I also had an axe version for a gem-obsessed dwarf who also scoffed at it. Was it the lovely crystal look? It did bring a LOT of attention.
Back in the early years, an item's magical bonus (so, a +3 sword for example) represented the number of elements from different planes of existence that went into its construction. The +3 sword would have steel from Faerun, alloyed with green iron from the Nine Hells and Iron oxide from Acheron. The theory was that the sword overcame the resistance of the things it hit, because it was hitting them multidimensionally.

Devils don't break agreements. So the source is safe from them. The other fiends would indeed face immediate retribution for even trying to invade the plane, much less go to a specific area. The fiends are just not allowed to leave their planes for the most part. Which is part of why they court mortals at all. Mortals are one of the few things that can get around the rules. Demons may rage against any rules but the gods don't ask them nicely.
It might be that fiends are aligned with the negative planes like undead are, and traveling to the positive plane would incinerate them.

If i remember correctly, there is a sealed gateway to the Postive Energy Plane/Plane of Radiance under one of Orcus' fortresses in Thanatos. Makes me wonder how the corrupting energies of the Abyss would interact/adapt to the constant energy, and what sort of demonic life would spawn from such an interaction.
Reminds me of my fascination with the Loumara of The Dreaming Gulf and how, in a way, they reveal what demons possibly would have been like if the Shard of Ultimate Evil was successfully plunged into the Astral Plane.

Honestly, I imagine something similar to Ragnorra from the Elder Evils book or Marvel's Cancerverse . Likely, some sort of demon that has light abilities of some sort and constantly regenerates, maybe even having an hp overcap to birth some new horrid monster.
Don't know if you take monster suggestions for vids, but I'd particularly like you to document the most interesting Undead I've yet to find, the Darklights, spirits that were "adopted" by the Plane of Radiance (both very strange given the usual effect on Undead & makes me feel there are very interesting implications there).
The only in-depth description I found was from a difficult to work sight called Mojobob, so it seems a shame that there isn't more documentation on something as fascinating as this creature.
. . . I'm gonna go make this suggestion to Dungeon Dad too, as it seems to be an older edition monster & something he might be interested in. I hope you enjoy this, and use it to jump-scare your players with lasery/shining doom.

Problematic, as the Positive energy plane is technically a void (no atmosphere), your best bet would be a ritual circle that opens and contains the portal, with a filter point that, with a command word, releases as beam of positive energy.
So, not a viable battlefield tactic.

The positive energy plane doesn't care if a being is good or evil, so it is possible to create a Nega-Lich, an evil being kept unnaturally alive by ritually linking themselves to the endless torrent of positive energy, it could be that a Lich, after centuries of research, has discovered how to do this, and they require a living victim that they can magically transfer their soul into (if you want to get creepy with it, it could be that the healing power must be prevented from restoring the brain of the victim, so the skull is sawed open and the brain replaced with a gemstone phylactery, containing the Lich mind, every now and then, a little bit of original brain regrows and the lich will twitch and scream, then punch the gem more firmly down into their skull socket).
I like the idea of the lich's ultimate motive being to learn how to corrupt the plane itself. Hating life so much they want to extinguish it's source.
So, carry a big dagger when you want to visit the plane?

I have a theory. I believe positive energy is what allows magic as we know it to exist, especially raw magic. Positive energy and raw magic seem to have similarities to our modern understanding on Mana, a supernatural life force.

If a Elementalist / conjuguer can cast Chill Touch to draw energy from the Negative Plane of Energy to cause 1d6 necro damage, why can't a mage draw energy from the Positive Energy Plane to heal 1d6 of damage ?
Oh, that's right Only Clerics can cast Healing Spells.
It's not the core rules, it's how gods in the game generally want things. In my campaigns, I allow reverse forms of spells that harm to heal if the campaign is godless. The reverse of Chill Touch is Soothing Touch. The reverse of Finger of Death is Finger of Life, a form of Raise Dead that can backfire with the resurrection attempt making the corpse explode. Contagion is actually a positive energy blight (diseases are life). The reverse is Purge, the negative energy form, where the cure of all diseases in the person actually harms the subject much like chemotherapy does with cancer patients in the real world. Homebrew was always encouraged, my friend.

Mages can research mage versions of cleric spells. It would be 2 levels higher than the clerics. A 2nd level cleric spell would be a 5th level spell for the mage. But its affects/effects would be as if it was a 2nd level. So an archmage could make a 7th cleric spell but it would be a 9th level spell for the arcanist. This was a rule up till 3.5 I think. I had a 15th level necromancer that made 1st & 2nd level cleric spells that for him were 3rd & 5th spells. The material cost and research time where horrible. But it was worth it.
Psiconics have healing powers too.
In 2e healinf mages were optinonal. But aligment thing is dumb. Its dependa on how you use it.
Mystics once known as psionics have a power that allows them to evolve their body to withstand any environment similar to the mutant from the X-Men call Darwin they also have an ability in 2nd edition that allows them to take on a form of pure energy as well as a power in most additions that allows them to draw energy from multiple sources to reinvigorate themselves psionic vampirism is one form that this takes there are other forms of it as well if a powerful enough Mystic found their way into the positive energy plane and use those two abilities I would theorize that they would become far more powerful than even some of the Lesser Divine as the plane itself would energize them without the need to worry about becoming over energized and exploding as they could seal the energy bit by bit in two different things for example crystals that hold power points as certain psionic abilities allow you to transfer hit points to power points at a specific rate or Channel all that energy into the creation of Their Own demiplane via the power Genesis in fact if you already had that power and you created a bag of holding or something that a set of working like a normal bag of holding just worked items there you could in theory dump points into crystals while you sit in the positive energy plane and stash them away in your own demiplane as you fill them up
Don't psions rely on the force plain? I always thought its a different one since force isn't realy positive or negative in my mind its a plain that if you try to enter it a random barrage of forces tears you to shreds

Well there are a lot of variables, if it was free access to everyone, then the market for minerals would plummet as the saturation of supply would mean people only valued materials for how useful they are, so you could imagine people coating their ship anchors with gold to prevent rust and save space while keeping the needed weight. If only a few have access, they now control the market of whatever resource they bring back with them, but they have to trickle their stockpile of precious materials into the economy or they risk reducing their profits. Aside from that, who knows what sort of wild extraplanar critters could come over if traffic is not carefully regulated and checked. Imagine if some sort of gold eating creature like the Aurumvorax got into the royal treasury and ate all the precious metals? Imagine a plague of Xorn? What if some sort of metal eating moss started to spread around the region? All things to keep in mind.
Thanks, I was thinking of making a plot line where the players are unknowingly hired by a dwarf that was a descendant of a dwarven king that ruled a fallen kingdom that had access to the plane of minerals. The Dwarf would have them find and search the ancient ruins to find what gave them access to the plane and to why the kingdom fell. I was trying to wrap my head around on what the kingdom would've been like.

My old dm had an interesting take on the healing factor of this plane. Even if you prepared for the over healing and vacuum, you couldn't spend much time there or else be killed by any particular disease that may be hitching a ride on you or your gear. Imagine being turned into a mound of moldy fungus, or having your entire body overcome by athletes foot. You literally had to be completely purified by a team of paladins or clerics with purify food and drink over your entire body and gear in the hopes of cleansing your body for your journey.
Also, the Lumi are awesome. They're immune to vorpal weapons, because they can't be beheaded...

Brilliant. That would give him sun immunity over time. Sunlight is pretty much weak Quasi-Elemental Radiance. I assume you found a way to not make him simply explode by arriving there via the Negative-Positive energy plain clash. Any being without that with any link to the Negative Material Plane disintegrates into an explosion the instant they manifest there.
Sun damage ignores immunity tho, and yes thats a thing.
