Oh see here in Washington State our brilliant (not) Governor decided to charge the oil refineries a Carbon tax. So the refineries just tacked on to our pump prices. So the State has made almost a billion dollars off of people that can't really afford it. We all ready pay 49.5 cents per gallon in State tax.

Methane is a really bad GHG, worse than CO2. On average a cow belch roughly 500 liters of methane a day. That is the same as 20 lb(9.2 kg) of CO2e every single day for one cow. That is pretty much the same emissions as if you drive 23 miles in the average passenger vehicle.

The answer to the pollution problem is to build lots more Nuclear 'fission' power plants and don't cut costs on the safety systems. Most of the nuclear disasters came from a lack of maintenance and a lack of cooling systems when needed. France gets 80% of their power from fission plants but will still get pollution by the Chinese coal plants over time as we all do. Mandatory recycling everywhere is also necessary. These two steps will bring immediate improvement.

The dude on the right end of the stage is very wrong about the quality of oil from the Middle East compared to much of the oil here in North America. Oil from the Baaken fields in MT and the Dakotas, and that from the tar sands of Alberta, are very thick, heavy and hard to refine. The sweet crude from Saudi Arabia is much, much easier to refine and takes less energy to do so.
The comment at the beginning of this clip about the shutting down of the Keystone pipeline was full of misinformation. There is already a Keystone pipeline system in place. Keystone XL was intended as an expansion of the system to transport Canadian tar sand oil from Alberta to refineries on the Texas Gulf Coast. The oil from that pipeline was to be shipped overseas because it is too dirty and nasty and no good for our air quality. We weren’t ever going to see a drop of that oil. Just as an aside, most California oil is mostly sludge and again, not particularly clean. California refineries export that stuff and imports most of the oil used in California. This crew spent a lot of time harshing on advocates of veggie burgers but offered no solutions for our own environment. Just whining. All I heard was, “whatabout China? You are not correct. Many of our refineries are set up to process heavy crude because it is less expensive than light crude. This means even though it's more expensive to process the end products are less expensive.

Just a minor point re: EV charging. It is NOT a linear proposition. It takes longer and longer the more you try to push it to 100%. In fact most manufacturers don't recommend that and would prefer operating only between 10% and 80% due to decreased longevity when charged to 100%.

The only jobs associated with the keystone Pipeline work temporary construction jobs Oklahoma ranchers sued TransCanada on 2018 and TransCanada had to admit in federal court that there would be no new hires after the completion of the pipeline.
The Keystone Pipeline is not shut down. Keystone Pipeline is fully open and carrying oil. The only thing that was cancelled was a planned expansion of the pipeline which was basically a shortcut between two points in the existing system.

The answer to the pollution problem is to build lots more Nuclear 'fission' power plants and don't cut costs on the safety systems. Most of the nuclear disasters came from a lack of maintenance and a lack of cooling systems when needed. France gets 80% of their power from fission plants but will still get pollution by the Chinese coal plants over time as we all do. Mandatory recycling everywhere is also necessary. These two steps will bring immediate improvement.

Oil from the Baaken fields in MT and the Dakotas, and that from the tar sands of Alberta, are very thick, heavy and hard to refine. The sweet crude from Saudi Arabia is much, much easier to refine and takes less energy to do so.

The comment at the beginning of this clip about the shutting down of the Keystone pipeline was full of misinformation. There is already a Keystone pipeline system in place. Keystone XL was intended as an expansion of the system to transport Canadian tar sand oil from Alberta to refineries on the Texas Gulf Coast. The oil from that pipeline was to be shipped overseas because it is too dirty and nasty and no good for our air quality. We weren’t ever going to see a drop of that oil. Just as an aside, most California oil is mostly sludge and again, not particularly clean. California refineries export that stuff and imports most of the oil used in California.
This crew spent a lot of time harshing on advocates of veggie burgers but offered no solutions for our own environment. Just whining. All I heard was, “whatabout China? Whatabout India?” What about ‘em? Why can’t we take care of our own house?
what is wrong with our environment? what solutions are needed for the problems that you think we have? as for the pipeline... yes, some will get sold but most is for in-house usage. why be the refinery and not use the product? it will be the same hydrocarbon output (octane, cetane, propane...) as if any other oil went into it. refining is the dirty part, why do that here and ship the finished goods?
You are not correct. Many of our refineries are set up to process heavy crude because it is less expensive than light crude. This means even though it's more expensive to process the end products are less expensive.

Just a minor point re: EV charging. It is NOT a linear proposition. It takes longer and longer the more you try to push it to 100%. In fact most manufacturers don't recommend that and would prefer operating only between 10% and 80% due to decreased longevity when charged to 100%.
The keystone Pipeline was shut down because it only benefited Canada. The owner of the keystone Pipeline is a corporation called TransCanada oil. The only jobs associated with the keystone Pipeline work temporary construction jobs Oklahoma ranchers sued TransCanada on 2018 and TransCanada had to admit in federal court that there would be no new hires after the completion of the pipeline.
The Keystone Pipeline is not shut down. Keystone Pipeline is fully open and carrying oil. The only thing that was cancelled was a planned expansion of the pipeline which was basically a shortcut between two points in the existing system.
