- Welcome to my initial run through of this great new amp from BOSS. It takes the Modern Classic and adds some cool new features too. Join me as I show you a few of the sounds I came up with right out of the box when the guys at BOSS sent it to me.

Boss hit a home run with this new Gen3 Katana line! Every demo video I have seen/heard so far sounds fantastic.
They are producing some great & exciting products these days - as they have for a long while - and very nicely explained Alex!

Great demo, great player. Boss continues to innovate and still keeps costs reasonably low. These katakana amps server a purpose, sounds good and you get a lot of different effects to check out. Hard to beat for the money.

Would've liked to see your review cover the new /different / additional capabilities of the MkIII versus the MkII. I can do virtually everything you showed on my MkII Artist, apart from the PUSHED amp type, which is easy to replicate on the MkII anyway.
Cheers mate, yes this was more just an organic demo where I wanted to give a general overview as I knew there would be plenty of other channels doing the comparison type content. I’ve just had a look and there’s a couple up already.. I hope they’ll help mate. All the best 👍🙏🎸
Great demo. I fell in love with vibrato effects listening to the soundtrack of the old original Twin Peaks TV show (ft. Julee Cruise God rest her soul). Obviously been put to good use by many great players of course, including yourself.
Were you using an external looper or one built into the Katana? That first loop, as straightforward as it was, was glorious!
I noticed you told a Commentor below , you had bought your Hat 10 years ago , The Hat last for years but the gear you show us all is only Seasonal.. lol 😂 always showing us Incredible new Gear ,, your the Bomb bro,, "George from Florida"

My goodness this guy can play
That guitar is unreal! I recently bought a Boss Nextone Stage amp. What makes it different than the Katana (I have a gen 1 Katana Artist) is how the amp on the Nextone behaves when you play with the channel and master volumes. On the clean channel I can get awesome breakup with particularly my higher gain guitars. With that said, if what Boss did was add the Nextone amp to the Katana, the Katana goes from great to incredible!!!! Saw lots of videos comparing the Katana to the Nextone, always picking the Katana as "better". The Katana is better (so much more to it), but the Nextone is special in itself. Again, if my assumption is correct and Gen 3 adds the Nextone modeling, WOW!

Alex, you're a BEAST! What do you use to loop or playback progressions you've made on the fly? Is it all DAW or do you use a stompbox?
try the new signature AH balalaika - maple fret board (scalloped obviously); comes with a complimentary travel clock

So is the Looper going into the 3gen as well, is the guitar just going into the amp no Looper? Can you do guitar > Looper > Katana and have the expression grain from the katana only affect the live guitar not the loop?
Is this a tube type amp or solid state? The next question is how many watts 50 or 100? Lastly how much does it weight and is it one 12 inch speaker or two 12’s? The reason I’m asking Alex is I’m replacing my Crate 212 Terror anniversary amp due to weight and my ability to carry it around any longer. Thanks mate🙏🏻☮️🍻😁Dana E💫

What guitar is that? Looks amazing
The Katana Gen 3 comes in 50 watts and 100 watts. I'm guessing you have the 100-watt version because you can't connect the foot switch to the 50-watt.
How is your looper connected physically and in the software?

Good playing. But i think using mic to demonstrate the speaker quality is totally necessary than just using line out only.

It's on the far right if you look closely on the pedal shots... I have it coming out of the line out into the mixing desk.... Hope that helps 👍🎸🙏

I don't want to come across as a Troll but this isn't a new Gen,,, it's only just an update if we are being honest... No BT (optional dongle), No BT control via foot switch.. No built in wireless receiver, no looper.. it's a MK2 with more EQ and that’s it.
Headless guitar propaganda… 😂 it’s working, though. I‘m considering the Katana. With the current valve/tube prices being what they are, it’s either a vacuum refresh or the entire thing.
Finally a GOOD guitar player demoing Katana, boss most of the times always choses "geartubers" that can't play or tune their guitars!
Nothing a MK2 can't do if you're not bothered about bluetooth
Having to pay extra for Bluetooth adaptor is a rubbish money grab when it's been standard on many other amps for years. It's a shame as it overcomes having to have your mobile or laptop physically connected
Not everybody needs that feature. These amps are very affordable.
It's a computer amp.STOP MAKING A NEW MODEL EVERY 3 MONTHS.THATS WHAT KILLED BLACKSTAR.
