Struggling to become fluent Spanish, but you have made some things very clear. I work in a Spanish Immersion classroom (first grade), but am not required to know Spanish. I know basic things and say as much as I know how to say. This is really helping me with some things I have struggled with and so much makes sense. I still overthink everything, so I will need to absorb this several times. Thank you for making these videos. I am enjoying them.

Thank you so much for making these videos. You show the world that it´s not necessary to spend long hours to master a topic/tense. And your videos are much more understandable than any other teachers. I take notes from your videos and create charts on excel, and use the words and tenses I learned from your lessons in "my diary" to practice them day by day. People! the best way to master a language is to use them in your daily conversations or writing your thoughts down. That way you learn how to use what you actually use. Best output to your input. Thanks again!

Is it a good rule of thumb to say that in command forms (all of tú, usted, affirmative, and negative) that all of them have "flipped endings" except the affirmative tú?
Affirmative tú: El / Ella / Usted Not Flipped Ending
    Negative tú: Flipped Ending
    Affirmative usted: Flipped Ending
    Negative usted: Flipped Ending
    yeah?

Notice that the affirmative tú command “equals” the third person singular form of the present indicative for regular verbs and that the negative tú command and all other commands whether affirmative or negative are the same as their present subjunctive forms. I think that’s because the present indicative is the actual present tense and commanding second person singular means you want such a person you feel familiar enough with to make whatever action a reality while negative commands mean telling someone or a group of people not to make something a reality and all other commands need to sound polite when you have to be formal towards any elder(s) or whomever you do not know personally, and subjunctive does not typically mean reality and is sometimes the more polite way to command tú as in saying “Quiero que (tú)…”

    Danny,
I love your lessons. I’m hoping you will help me with my question.
In one of the examples you used tráigamelo as a formal command, meaning bring it to me. But I would have thought that it should have been tráemelo. Both seem to translate to the same meaning! So, I’m confused why you used the 1st person singular form of the verb, rather than the 3rd person singular.
    Thanks,
    Colleen

Great video man it was so helpful. There was just one thing I got a bit stuck on though, if you were to make a command in the Tú form with 'your' in it, would you use 'tu' or 'su'? For example, would you say 'come TU cena' or 'come SU cena'

Good question. You would typically say "tu" but if you're talking to someone that you would want to show more respect to, you would say "su." Does that help?

You can either say, "Me gusta usted or Me gustas tú. You can change the word order to Usted me gusta or tú me gustas too.
Gustar is strictly intransitive. It can never take a direct object.
