My husband and I have a Dairy Farm and are able to get raw milk, eggs, grass fed beef, and a garden. Eat close to whole as possible. We do IF most days. He does a longer fast than I do, like 18-20 hours. People comment on how young we look for our age and have lots of energy. I always believed it was the good real fats, cutting sugars, sleep, movement and mindset.
You are both so lucky!! I love raw milk, it is delicious! I never liked milk before. Too bad Big Milk Companies shut our Dairy farmer down from our CO-OP group. 😫
It really shows, you look like a Barbie doll. You’re gonna age like fine wine! My husband and I are starting this, I can’t wait to see the results. We also have chickens and plan on beefing up our garden next year. If only we had cows. Rarely do we eat out either. It sounds hard at first but you get used to cooking your favorite foods, and going out and waiting in lines start to seem like more of an inconvenience than cooking at home… it’s not even as tasty.

I LOVE intermittent fasting. I usually fast 18 hours. If I am hungry before that I will eat. 99.9% of the time I fast 18 hours a day!!!!!! I FEEL healthier. I FEEL more energetic. I do drink one cup of BLACK Espresso Organic Coffee, Mayorga, first thing in the morning, which is usually before 7 am. We NEED to learn to LISTEN TO OUR BODY! If I was being invited for a breakfast brunch, I would not fast the 18 hours that particular day, so I can participate with my family and friends. One thing I learned is rigidness can go against you. You can have flexibility and still be very successful.
Unexpectedly breaking a fast actually is great for the body as you know (as you listen to your body). It's a good way to shock the body into more weight loss. I do 16:8 most days, sometimes I will break the fast by just eating a bunch of junkfood in a day, then back at eating clean. Keeps me more dedicated to the process.
I am 77 and do the 18-6 fasting and love it. It make me feel great and alive. I have breakfast at 11:00 and dinner at 5:00 and eat what I want during those hours. II have stop (per doctor) taking one medication and reduced another, now I’m on the way to stop the other one I take. I will be medication free then.
Carol Rainer, 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏 Keep it up you're doing great; God bless you 🙏 I just can't afford to lose weight; I've always been slender at 112-115 lbs. I've tried intermittent fasting before and in a few months I was down to 96 lbs; I lost a lot of weight and my doctor stopped me. I'm now 110 lbs; my generation are slender people!
@@amyong5809 A lot of people are doing it and they're all getting healthier. I cannot do it because I've no weight to lose! I've tried it to become healthier but couldn't continued because I got too skinny and sick!
Carol Rainer, How are now and have you stopped the other medication yet? Please let us know, thank you. I do wish you the best on your journey and God bless 🙏
This discussion is Age OLD WISDOM long obscured but now reappearing and is a good thing! I've found that with Intermittent fasting most days plus a three day water fast at least once per month preferably twice has given me a whole new experience in my bodyship. Having now relieved the symptoms of an auto-immune condition that has plagued and robbed me of vitality for years has changed the game for me. We must each find our own way but fasting also helps me with the chronic depression and anxiety that I've suffered from since childhood. We owe it to ourselves to give it a try! 🙋
14 hours is my maximum. At age 80 I know my limits. I do not need to lose weight. I am just rebuilding muscle and mitochondria. Dealing with lyme. It is a discipline. I think each person will know what feels best. Thanks guys!💜👍
JUST watched two videos about a guy who is healing his Lyme with carnivore! Lyme is TERRIBLE! So sorry. th-cam.com/video/QTMB3BrF49w/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/F7e7hcQoKUQ/w-d-xo.html
Two things, my friend, and your health will change drastically. (1) Do the breathing portion of the Wim Hof method. Totally free. Ease into it. (2). Do the Wahls Protocol. Dr. Wahls was in a wheelchair with MS and couldn't walk. Healed herself through this diet protocol. Works for almost any ailment. She bikes miles and miles now and lives a normal life. To my knowledge, her diet is not inconsistent with Dave Asprey's advice. My above 60 year old sister with Lyme Disease does these two things and she is able to live a normal life. Best of luck.
Dave seems to really care about people and always gives us something we can do immediately! He is very generous! I love, love, love this guy! Bring him back many many times!
I'm 66 and just recently spiraled up into a new place wherein my forgiveness of myself is at such a high degree that I'm seeing everyone else in a new light as well as being able to give myself permission, finally, to be 'OK'. EVERYTHING is shifting for me. Never heard anything by DA before but it figures that now I finally would.

My amazing husband and I do a fast free, relaxed day every Sunday! We love it so much! I do 20:4 IF here too on most days and as a nurse, I also know to still listen to my body. I also don’t eat animals and I never will again! There is definitely a sweet spot! Thank you so much Lewis for your videos! I started watching them during the pandemic! They have helped me so much! God bless you!
I love how this interview was so fun and informative. I'm currently 60 pounds over weight, but used to be extremely physically fit. I've spent the last few decades cycling through excess weight, excess stress, excess disease , emotionally and physically. I absolutely love how this interview explains how its all connected, the mental, the physical, the biological, the psychological, the forgiveness pairs with the awareness, which pairs with the metabolism which pairs with either health or unwellness. Super job guys! I just finished a 21 day water fast, 2 weeks of varied keto feeding, and now discovered this video , which when paired with other videos I'm watching, gives me the knowledge and assurance to trust my feelings and intuition. I Lost 40 pounds in the last 6 weeks and am entering into new eating habits , fluctuating between twice a day, once a day, once every 2 days, sometimes once every 5,10,20 days, then maybe some 3 times a day feedings. Its all about knowing our bodies and minds are so much more amazing and flexible that most of us have been led to believe. Metabolic flexibility really does bring more vitality to our souls. Great interview.
Way to go to discuss the soil, I work with farmers to increase their soil health which also increases farmer's profitability and improves our natural resources
@@tarablomquist7924 I've watched it and know a lot of the people in that film. We don't want to be plowing, we want to disturb the soil as little as possible so no-till, strip till, or reducing tillage over time. Using cover crops will help sequester carbon while improving farmers soil and improving our water quality
Very impactful. I have just finished reading Fast This Way - great read. I am 63 years old and after just six weeks of doing intermittent fasting (cutting out breakfast and using Organic MCT oil etc) I am already thrilled that my arthritic knees now feel great 👍 and my thinking is so much sharper. 👊🙏👌❤️
Wow, that's amazing. I have terrible arthritis, and am looking at my second knee replacement. I would love to get some pain relief. How are you using the MCT oil?
Amanda, thanks for the testimony.🤠 I have been mostly OMAD for over 5 years now and have no been very strict this year and you are definitely incouraging me to get back on course of this fasting focused life style.
@@sethmason5682 Like you, I don't know how to use the MCT oil so I'm going to have to get the book (lol) but in the meantime, after doing keto for about 2 years (I'm now carnivore), my arthritis disappeared. I had it in my thumbs (I could barely hold a pen to write), ankles, knees and one hip (to the point of limping). I did the occasional 3-day fast, as well but not that often. Anyway, last spring, my knees konked out for some reason and I really couldn't walk. I was snarfing down Aleve and I'm sure my kidneys were screaming. I had to walk around my apartment holding onto walls and furniture--it was that bad. Then I went for a cortisone shot in August, went sort of keto-vore (before going full carnivore) and the arthritis has not come back. The industry of medical replacement hardware is THE most profitable in the medical field--not pharmaceuticals--but artificial joints. So of course no one is going to tell you that you don't need them. The key to it all is diet and probably fasting. Fasting builds stem cells. Anyway, my knee doctor told me that joints wear out and everyone believes that but it's just not true. When your joints break down, it's because your not eating the right things. Simple as that. Good luck to you!!
@@andyandcallie thank you for your comments. I eat pure crap, mostly sugar and carbs. I need to get real about my diet before I let them slice my leg up again. And, by the way, I never got my full range of motion back after the first knee replacement! It's still stiff, and I still have issues going up and down stairs! I need to save my remaining knee!
I have no problem skipping breakfast on weekends when I dont work but the stress of preparing for morning zoom meetings during the week, makes me hungry.
1-Forgiveness: Yourself. The Event. Others. 2-Get good sleep. Block light frequencies if possible. 3-20 minutes walk or move a day, Twice a week do 10 minutes of something that makes you cry or throw up. 4-Cold Shower 5-Neurofeedback or Meditation
have been doing it for over 4 months, got back in shape as I was in my 20`s, I do 16/8 hrs daily and follow a healthy lifestyle. I don't crave for any carb, eat grass fed meat only and lots of fresh tofu. started back in October 2021 and still keeping healthy. I am in my early 50`s and my body has totally changed more energy and I do listen to my body every single moment. thank u Dave, I have all your books and they all come with me whenever I travel, work out ...
I love not being hungry! It amazes me that if i don’t eat, I won’t get sick feeling- I just get over it & move on. I love to hear you. Experienced and what you learned! Wow
Fasting is amazing Absolutely working for me. I'm 60 yrs old and works so well. I start 2 months before my 60 birthday last nov 4..the energy that I have is really intense. I did not stop anymore till now I do only one meal a day. Imagine I work 15 hrs.a day and still I can go for a walk fo 8 to11 klms . Amazing
I fasted 6 days and it completely changed my life. AMAZING energy after feeling like crap for the last 3 days. I did keto strips, the mental benefit was concurrent with high ketones. They turned on after 6 days.
I am 60 also. I started to try reverse my diabetes , and did fasting for 20 hours . to tell you the truth I started to worry why am I not hungry ? more energy , less irritable , no more brain fog , my skin looks better , and cannot eat eggs anymore . what will I do ? also meat doesn't taste good anymore , headaches are gone . what about my cakes ? . I love to bake. nothing crazy just simple apple cake or homemade donuts or bread. I love my bread.
He is basically saying that "one meal per day" routines are less effective than actual intermittent fasting...24 hours or 48 hours ONCE PER WEEK. Do NOT let your body ACCLIMATE to fasting with every day or every other day routines. The entire idea is to "stress" your body into shock from starvation mode. And 48 hours is enough to produce the "youth" chemicals we want and to clean out the immune system.
🤠 I fasted in my 20's for the same reason and lost a lot weight and saved a lot of money as well and wish that I had maintained that life style, but the whole world seams to be against us including our friends, family, and faith! The Omad Outlaw 🤠
I enjoy my bulletproof coffee in the mornings and don't feel hunger until noon most days. Thanks, Lewis for always presenting such knowledgeable speakers to the community.
"Being kind to myself" is a slippery slope for me. I put on 15 lbs and lost energy, mental clarity (this winter as I nursed relationship wounds and went off my IF and low carb regimen). Personally I just need more self-discipline, which doesn't always mean "being nice". I'm back on a strict 20/4 hr IF and carbs under 100 grams per day. I have been steadily losing the excess lbs (primarily around my middle) and feel much better.
This was one of the best sessions about overall health that ever seen. Very in depth, and yet easily understood, about the whys and hows of our health choices, without sounding preachy or fanatical. Thanks so much for this.
Yes flexible fasting is what I've learned... sometimes being more disciplined (especially if feeling groggy, bloated etc) and easing up at other times. Enjoy indulging as much as enjoying cleaning my system.
This makes so much sense. The one thing he recommends that is NOT going to work for me, is Coffee. Even decaffeinated coffee makes me so jittery, and even if I drink it in the morning, I can't sleep.
It’s the only time Iv ever lost a significant amount of weight! I’m 2 weeks in doing 3 day fast a week and the omad the rest of the time! Lost 18lbs so far! Skin is clear, loads of energy! No carbs!!!!!! Don’t miss eating all day! Can cook for the kids when I’m fasting and not even be tempted to try it.
Been fasting since I was in my 20s not knowing the power of it. I am grateful for the knowledge of fasting. I am almost 45 and I am healthy and don’t get sick
That makes so much sense! Our ancestors ate when food was available, not in a pre-described way. I've felt guilty for mixng it up, but I was just listening to my body. Now I have a better idea of how to do this. Thank you!
I dabbled in intermittent fasting years ago. So I did a master cleanse last month then right into Keto. I do bulletproof coffee in morning and eat from 12-8pm. Mind is super sharp. Lost 24 lbs too. I also take tyrosine.
I do 16:8 everyday, although I don’t call it fasting. Time restricted window seems like a more accurate term. After reading some of the work of from Satchin Panda I switched my eating window to earlier in the day beginning 1 hour after waking and my second and final meal at 3 pm. This made a really big difference for me.
@@cearilindubhlaoi9507 it makes a huge difference because 20h not eating isn't really fasting. You don't get the medical benefits correlated from fasting, you'd not have to eat at least 24-72h+ for fasting benefits. While we get other benefits from giving the gut a "short" break like 16-24h
@@cearilindubhlaoi9507 I think you wondered a year ago what was the difference. For me the Wonder is to not feel hungry. Fasting puts me in the driver's seat instead of my Hunger. I have my life back. I decide when I'll eat, not my craving
When I am not doing fasting yet, if I skip meals or snacks, I feel irritable (that feeling like you want to do anything just to put that food in your mouth). But when I learned how to fast already, I can go on for long periods of time without eating anything (just water and black coffee) and I still feel great. I have more focus than before. I am doing 16 hours, sometimes, 18 hours and now I can't believe that I am attempting 24hours (reason I am in this part of TH-cam - to motivate myself). I want to reach that autophagy stage that they are talking about and see for myself.
His voice is very calming. I literally fell asleep while listening to him. Needed to play it backeard to catch up. Nevertheless, this is a gem to watch. I promise you.. Thank you for this sir.
I have worked up to one meal a day plus a snack three hours later . A process that has evolved over 3 months . I’m inching into a 1 day water fast , and up to a 3 day one . I feel a lot better , but I want to be my best . I love my journey .
Did you take only water or also include black coffee, i started water fast 3 days back, is it good idea to include black coffee in the morning for better weight loss?
he is most logical and rational person when it comes to fasting. for days i wonder why i have poor sleep during days i fast or literally i can’t sleep at all. as woman with low fat body fasting for long hours is making me sleepless so i have to listen to my body . i wonder why i’m likes when practicing something that’s really healthy. thanks for addressing the issue
I have just done my first 24hour fast. And I usually eat three meals a day, ironically I have managed very well! I am just now tucking into some fresh raspberries 😆🙌🏻
@@jamesnguyen7069 no I just went straight in! I am going to try and do at least two 24 hour fasts a month. I may even push one of them to a 36. The key I found is to not put myself under pressure. If it gets too much I will eat! That psychology worked well for me x

Hi Barry how did it go? Did you achieve your goal? If you didn't, I encourage you to keep trying. Don't give up. Remember, the race is for those who endure....
Done 5 days now of 23/1. Feeling like shit but I'm going to continue until I hit 100. Currently 132 from 134.5. I know it gets better as this is the only method I have ever been able to loose or maintain with. I'm not going to fail again.
32 days on water with electrolytes is my max so far. I was not working at the time and had a quite home environment. I did meditate every day and did the vim Hof breathing exercise every day too. I also maintained a day journal and wrote down what I was grateful for for that particular day. I have restarted squats and am also getting used to cold showers. Using an eye mask is helping me sleep better too. Though as a nurse my sleep rhythm is disastrous thanks to decades of shift work.

Changing my diet has changed my life.. As an athlete I've always had the usual high carb diet and what most ppl would say I was a heth freak.. Fruits.. Veg.. Low fat.. Proteins no Mcdonalds or kfcs or sweets.. But my god was I hungry all the time I was constantly easting something but at the same time obsessed with calories and if I went over the calories I wanted I would feel bad and eventually I'd do a massive binge on rubbish.. Since changing my diet to keto and now more carnivour/keto and then started fasting to the point I can do 24 hours easy and I did a 40 hour a few days ago with no problems and I swear I had soooo much energy... I do up my carbs if I have a race but I will also train fasted both steady an with effort... I feel my body is so flexible on its fuel... The best thing tho is how I am not tied to my hunger pangs... Best thing ever
I do fasting and in the morning I just have coffee with mtc oil and I dont eat until maybe 12 noon I cut out alot of surgar . I feel good. This interview is very helpful and I'm always willing to learn and try new things.
I do the same thing but I learned that having the mct oil coffee actually breaks the fast and doesn't let you get to autophagy. So starting today I'm trying to switch to plain green tea and wait to break my fast with the mct oil at lunch time. Let my body clean up itself before it turns to just using the mct as the morning energy.
Watching this on 82nd hour of my fasting while nursing my 1 y/o (third baby) while on a period, drinking my bulletproof coffee with ghi and mct oil. I’m noticing a better sleep pattern, going to sleep 10pmish waking 4:45am-ish I do wake up a lot as any mom of young children does, we need a new set of studies for Mothers everyone’s life and development depends on.
BRILLIANT! This is explained so well. I am now in a place where I am never hungry and I eat when my body tells me to. I'm still learning what foods & when are best suited for me. My son was a devout vegan. He was trying to improve her health. Although he got sicker, weaker and more irritable, he stuck to his vegan lifestyle. When he finally went to see a doctor, he found she had MTHFR, was severely malnourished and his body was shutting down. All the dark green leafy greens he was eating (with all their oxalates) impacted his health negatively. He started slowly began adding a little butter and meat to his diet and his health began to improve. Many people can go vegan but not all will thrive. We must listen to our bodies and do what's best for us.
My body has adjusted to OMAD as normal. I have no hunger ever. And on occasion change up so my body knows all is well 😌 that there is no danger of starvation. And always never eating (poison food=sugar and processed food) Fasting not longer than 48 hours. Once in a while.

I do time restricted eating / intermittent fasting, usually having just dinner over a few hours' time. Last night there was a little street Carnival in town. I love the food trucks. So I had a plate of fish 'n chips, then an ear of corn-on-the-cob with butter, then onion rings, then a funnel cake with powdered sugar. This was over about two hours. It was pleasant! This morning I felt a little sluggish so I decided to fast today. I'll eat again tomorrow evening.
I'm glad I'm doing all these 5 practices. I'm blessed feel light as feather and sleep good and enjoy my sleep time. There's this awesome stillness quietness and peace in my life bc I adopted these habits.
Lewis TY So much for speaking self forgiveness. So genuine such an energy zap for me for years. It’s starting to lift and feels Amazing! I’m a subscriber now. For me the intermittent fasting is working well.
With the fasting, the first thing I noticed in the morning was how easily it was to get out of bed and the amounts of energy in the morning! I could only do that with tons of coffee. Never went back, 20-4 has worked great for me and I don't even need coffee anymore! 🤗
I love you both❤️. Thank you for doing work and being the guinea pig for your research. We are so lucky to have all this information right at our fingertips tips. Love you guys! I am a healthy eater and at 50 I am pretty good shape. Thanks you 🙏
I fell into a 16 hour off and 8 hour on cycle naturally. I have one big meal a day around 3 pm then snack (healthy) as needed until around 11pm. I go to sleep about 2:00-2:30 am. I wake up rested at 9-9:30 and only drink coffee in the mornings. I have tons of energy and only start getting hungry around 2:30-3 pm... My body and mind found this cycle naturally. This pattern just started repeating itself on it's own. No thought, no plan. Just followed how I felt. I don't work or have any stress which helps, and I'm sure the coffee suppresses appetite which helps get me to 3pm. (One or two cups) spaced out.

Age old wisdom repackaged all the time cause there's bucks to be made.
20/4 daily - 42-48 hour fast every week feels absolutely fantastic changed my life always active better sleep feel a ton of energy to get work done
So you are a man then?
14 hours is my maximum. At age 80 I know my limits. I do not need to lose weight. I am just rebuilding muscle and mitochondria. Dealing with lyme. It is a discipline. I think each person will know what feels best. Thanks guys!💜👍
JUST watched two videos about a guy who is healing his Lyme with carnivore! Lyme is TERRIBLE! So sorry.

Fasting 2-3 days after a week or so of keto low fiber will stimulate growth hormone and autophagy. That's what you might need for lyme.
Kudos to you Patricia!!
Happy for you. Hope and pray you find the best information for your goals.
Thank you so much for your feedback 🙂

I need to save my remaining knee!

have been doing it for over 4 months, got back in shape as I was in my 20`s, I do 16/8 hrs daily and follow a healthy lifestyle.

Lewis has a lot of good guests...but this is by far one of the best.
You are awesome!!!
What are klms? I live in US we go by miles.
I fasted with water when I was in my 40s for Bible studies and Prayer. Now that I'm older I started fasting again.
Fasting is a super power that we all need to rediscover!🤠

Isn't 100 g a lot, what does that comprise of?
@@marianking1379 - my wife gets upset when she breaks 20 carbs, usually 5 a day.
I'm doing 20:4...My first meal at 7PM and finish by 11PM . It saves me so much time and feels great!!!

I'd love to know in what way did it make a difference?????? 😊😊
I think this is what I need to do. It's just so hard. I will try an hour earlier every night
It's also what you consume. No junk!

@@jamesnguyen7069 no I just went straight in! I am going to try and do at least two 24 hour fasts a month. I may even push one of them to a 36. The key I found is to not put myself under pressure. If it gets too much I will eat! That psychology worked well for me x

You must be single 😉

Terrific information. Last ten mins Gold!
On day 5 of my fast and I'm going to keep going. Salt water and black coffee seems like all I need lol.
Me too, I just don’t care to eat. My friend looked in my fridge and saw nothing but olives and said WTH…
THIS. ALL THIS. I LOVE DAVE ASPREY! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU SHARED!

I've been doing 22 hour fasts...feel so energised! Eating better quality food too as not eating all the time :-)
