What an incredible fish market! This is a side of India so few International tourists experience or even know about. You're going to inspire a lot of people to head south to Kerala.
The stereotype India 🇮🇳 that you see in the west is heavily limited or influenced on North India 🇮🇳 whether is it the food, location or the monuments. Very few have explored down south or north east regions Good thing about it is that it’s not that heavily commercialised thus you will still get the nuances of the local routes on the food, culture or even the attitude of the locals
Even if tourists go to kerala, most of them visit south of Kerala. The real tasty food is in the north side of Kerala. Especially kannur and Kozhikode.
@@RockstarEater it is Kerala food, but people from North Kerala aka Malabar are less in US, the exclusive and unique Malabar cuisine you will get from restaurants run by people from Malabar. After Kerala, you can see such restaurants mainly in middle eastern countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar,Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman..etc because 90% of Kerala expat population living in these countries, ofcourse the food you tasted are part of Kerala cuisine. I think you had Dosa,Sadya... Apart from that Malabar special cuisine has tons of varieties mostly non veg and a lot of veg/non veg evening snacks.

The sweet dish in the beginning looks very similar to Goan "patoleos". Soaked rice ground into a paste and coconut and Jaggery filling. But we use turmeric leaves to steam it. Even the rice crepes. I think there are a lot of similarities between Goan, Maharashtrian, Manglorean and Kerala cuisine. I want to visit Kerala after the lockdown!

@Viinay9 i live in a city where south indians are more in numbers than the local population of that country, so there are thousands of kerala style restro near me, since i didn't eat seafood in my childhood its hard now to get used to the smell😊
We call it ‘Eeradye’ in South Canara region (Mangalore/Udupi). This delicacy is especially prepared and served here during the auspicious day of ‘Nagara Panchami’. We use Turmeric leaf to prepare this instead of Banana or Teak wood leaf which gives it a very unique texture and nice aroma.
Thank you for this delightful video ❤️ , we are missing our fish terribly with the ongoing lockdown , it was a treat to the eyes and senses seeing all the catch at Kannur and the fabulous spread of local dishes served by your hosts

Indian food is one of the best in the world because they traditionally use a lot of spices on their foods and make it so aromatic.
South Indian (especially Kerala) foods are spicy than other parts of India..
