    Jesus left His Mother to John because Jesus knew John would outlive her. The others would be martyred.

    Amen and Amen thank you Lord for this great moment and your manservant you have enabled for us to interpret the event to us. Amazing!. Bruce, would you agree with those who say that the dragon was cast down twice from heaven, pre-Eden, and on the cross? We really are indebted to God for you, may he continue to bless your calling.

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The details of the pre-Edenic 'fall' of Satan are at best obscure. He certainly lost his status as part of the angelic host of servants of God, but he still remained a player in the unseen drama of heaven as Job chs 1 & 2 affirm.

    Could the spear thrusted into Jesus’ side be bringing us back to the wound and subsequent scar that Adam himself would have had from the rib being taking from his side?

    Hi Bruce, and thanks for sharing your research with us. May I ask about your comments regarding the Holy of Holies? That it was an empty room? Is that information from the Bible somewhere or from an outside source? Who actually viewed the empty room? Was it a surprise that it was empty? How long had it been empty? If it was empty, did the high priest still go in there once a year? Was it during the inter-testamental period that it was emptied? Thanks again

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Holy of Holies had been empty apparently since the time of the Babylonian captivity. There was a tradition mentioned by Josephus and implied in the books of Maccabees that the prophet Jeremiah had spirited the ark to some secret place in the Judean wilderness before the fall of Jerusalem to Nebuchadnezzar.

    This debt being paid has reference to the covenant God made in Genesis 15 when God passed between the split carcasses. I first was aware of this from a teaching by R C Sproul. You have also mentioned this before.

    thanks for your lesson. one question was the Passover already completed? Acts 12:3-4 tells us the days o f unleavened bread. There were many Sabbaths not just the Saturday Sabbath too. Also, Herod was interested intended to keep him until after Easter.

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The common view is that the Passover meal was eaten on Friday. Jesus' celebration of the meal with his disciples the night before was anticipatory.

    bruce can you reference the material that Jesus did die on thursday and not wednesday to help me to better understand :" three days and three night" thank you.

    • @Triumph_of_the_Sky
      @Triumph_of_the_Sky 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not Bruce, however, I’m told ‘three days and three nights’ is a Hebrew idiom for the day after tomorrow.

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Any decent commentary on Matthew will treat the question of this Jewish idiom. The following is from Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown, included because of its brevity.
      "So shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. This was the second public announcement of His resurrection three days after His death. (For the first, see Jn 2:19.) Jonah's case was analogous to this, as being a signal judgment of God; reversed in three days; and followed by a glorious mission to the Gentiles. The expression "in the heart of the earth," suggested by the expression of Jonah with respect to the sea (Jnh 2:3, in Septuagint), means simply the grave, but this considered as the most emphatic expression of real and total entombment. The period during which He was to lie in the grave is here expressed in round numbers, according to the Jewish way of speaking, which was to regard any part of a day, however small, included within a period of days, as a full day. (See 1 Sa 30:12-13; Est 4:16; 5:1; Mt 27:63-64; etc.)"

    Brother Bruce. I have a question. I thought James was Jesus brother? So the author of the book of James was Clopas’ son?

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is James the brother of Jesus (Matthew 13:55), James the brother of John (Matthew 4:21) who was killed by Herod (Acts 4:22), and James the son of Alphaeus (Matthew 10:3). Some differ on this point, but it appears that James the son of Alphaeus was the author of the book of James, but others argue for James the brother of Jesus.

    Sir, could you tell me why you decided to leave the Baptist and join the Presbyterian church? I fell you do believe one needs to be born again and completely immersed for baptism. Just curious. Your studies have been a blessing.

    • @RoseSharon7777
      @RoseSharon7777 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Baptism in the new covenant has absolutely nothing to do with literal water. It about being baptized in the water of the word as noted in the epistles. With fire of the holy spirit. Water baptism created by the blind guides of the false church is nothing more than works of the flesh that profits nothing.

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I embraced the Reformed Tradition when I was in my early adult years. The issues the persuaded me had little to do with the mode of baptism.

    Does the fact that John not names himself as the writer of the Gosel of John contradict swearing an oath for the truth of his testimony? Doesn't a witness usually have to make his name public?

    But did Jesus go to paradise (interestingly, a Persian loan word) immediately, i.e., "today?" When he saw Mary at the tomb He said 'I have not yet ascended to my Father."

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      'Ascension' is a technical term referring to 'ascending' to his throne. The ascension took place at the end of 40 days after the resurrection, when Jesus announced to his disciples, 'All authority is given to me...'

    The fatal flaws of every false heretical Christian faith lie in a misunderstanding of the true nature and character of sin and the fall and the nature of the reconciliation between God and those He saves in and through the propitious sin bearing work of Jeaus the Lamb of God. Limited and particular redemption along with the doctrine of election and predestination the two most despised and offensive doctrines to man in their fallen and natural state. Gods motivation may be His love John 3:16 but love does not or cannot bypass the justice of God in that sin must be paid for in a way that thoroughly satisfies His Law and justice!
    This ransom price which was paid in full Isiaiah 53, Galatians 4:4, basis for our acceptance before God. The resurrection was the gurantee that Jesus redemptive work on our behalf or in our place met in full all the legal conditions necessary for our forgiveness and pardon. Our eternal salvation was absolutely secured and there is no sin for which God will ever punish us for. Plus Jesus perfect righteousness is imputed to us and all the elect of God stand before Him as if we are perfectly righteous and without sin. Jesus paid it all, all to him I owe sin has left a crimson stain but he washed it white as snow. Sovereign grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.
    IT IS FINISHED! Hallelujah what a Savior.
