I don´t think people understand how hard is for Argentina to get to this spot. It´s hard to have a professional carreer outside here it takes a lot of work, put everything in every single exposure so every player can catch they eye of some professional league to get interest in you. For us Semis is hell of an achievement, it´s not something 20 years ago we would ever expect. Celebrating been in a semis is not over reacting. Yes, we won nothing at the eyes of the greatest teams that dominated rugby since the inception of it, but for us semis is a big achievment knowing where we come from.
Argentina have been one of the teams I support since 2007. You get a raw deal from world rugby but turning your amateur league into a professional league is the responsibility of your domestic governing body. Maybe it's time for local fans to push for a professional league at home.

Two of the greatest test matches of all time in my humble opinion, were the 2000 Bledisloe/Tri Nations in Sydney (in front of a world record crowd), and the 2013 Rugby Championship decider at Ellis Park between the Springboks and All Blacks. I think that the two Quarter Finals between the top four ranked teams on the weekend could very well be considered at or near the quality of those two games mentioned. It's just a shame that they ended up being Quarter Finals when they should have been Semi Finals.
Fantastic weekend of Rugby I remember watching the very 1st World Cup in 87 with my Dad and uncles small town NZ when I was a kid and this has definitely been the best World Cup and hardest to win
i remember being at a test at Old Trafford when England did a lap of honour after drawing against the All Blacks, still scratching my head over that one. Down this way a draw is basically a loss.
You say the Irish game was personal for the All Blacks and it was but I think it was also against the NZ public who have been knocking Sam Cane and Foster for years now. If you watch the documentary they released on All Blacks + right before the Cup started, it is the entire focus of that doco. We riled them up good 🙂
For years the AB's have played major tests as the favourite, they have worn the pressure of being No.1 for decades, so they have a lot of experience in going in as favourites. I think people forget that the AB's & Boks play against themselves all the time, they use their internal standards as their benchmark and challenge themselves each and every game. It's actually very hard to beat a team that is competing against itself and striving for that personal best with every phase of their game, because their engagement and focus is completely analytical throughout the game.
I agree with Antoine Dupont.... the referee was very poor, for instance In the intercepted kick from Ramos you can see thst the SA player started runing way before he was allowed

Those quarter finals were crazy. My picks were NZ, France, Wales and England. Had Jordie Barrett not held that ball up it would have been an Ireland win. Still surprised that Ireland didn’t go for the penalty goals sooner rather than the line out. Kicks win matches as Pollard showed. England are a good kicking side however those English forwards are going to have to step up. England are the only unbeaten team and are at their best when they are written off. 🏴
The Barrett hold-up over the line should have been a penalty try to Ireland and Barrett carded. He has his arm around Kelleher’s neck. It’s a neck roll. Stunned the TMO missed it.
As Rassie said, anything can happen in a semi. I remember a few years ago where England won a game even though the second half of that game looked like men against boys. With the current team, you can’t say for certain what type of game plan they will use. I still feel that neither the Ireland nor France game were SA playing what would be considered traditional knock out rugby.
Definetly the best spectacle of rugby and drama this past weekend. Argentina pulled off the upset along with the ABs and the Boks with thier backs against the wall. The refs had moments where they almost ruined the games but the results ended up working in the favour they should have.
About Argentina celebrating, its easy to miss but we are the only country outside the traditional 3SH and 5 NH to reach semis. Ireland has never done it, Scotland only once and we are tying Wales with 3. We went from a tier 2 amateur team with no fixed competition to 3 semis in the last 5 WC. Not a small achievement
Harsh to see ARG and ENG instead of FRA and IRE. But I remember France making it out of the pool matches in 2011 with no glory. And facing the ABs in final… a « weird » final (to say the least) So we can’t say anything right now
You can't underestimate the England team, we know the refs are all for England in this tournament, the boks discipline will have to be on point, cause the ref will reward England 9 out of 10 times, we have to bring our a 8 on against them, and play hard positive rugby against them upfront, England has got nothing to loose and everything to gain, we know they are not dominant upfront like France, but we have to see them the same way and deal with them the same way, the game will be won or loose upfront 100 percent
The only problem with the weekend games was that they were quarters, not semis. I suspect a dip in performance from the two favourites - you can't play tests of the kind they have and maintain your levels - and an increase in the performance from Argentina and England. I don't think the outcome will change, but if an upset is on the cards I suspect it'll involve England.
This weekend will be a captains run for SA and NZ... IRE V NZ and SA v FRA where both 50/50 games it was some top class stuff.. I am Irish so very gutted about the lose as i think if we got over NZ a final was on the cards. Ireland where 10cm away from a Semi final.. i still hear Murry asking for the ball but the forwards pushed over but to only have the ball held up so close to the turf. I think if Murry got the ball a clear try was on the cards, they had number left and right.
I dont hink regardless of what happened in any isolated situation the all blacks would of ever lost. They are just too good for ireland and would of kept upping the intensity or changing on the fly. At no time were ireland ahead at all. All blacks really showing the rest of us why they are the best team to ever play rugby by quite some way.
You're right, it was a photo finish. Very fine margins. I do think the players needed to be rotated more though. Some played a lot of minutes up to this match and fatigue had to be some little issue I think. Why bring McCarthy, Herring, Byrne, Baird, O Brien and Casey if their hardly going to get to touch turf ? It's a 33 man squad , rotation of players should have been used more I think
@@Edgycoo disagree, fine margins. This was a photo finish, ye want to talk your team up after the test series loss last year, that's understandable. But this was too close

Argentina's celebration is a reflection of expectation. From where they started, this result means their world cup campaign has been a success. Some said they wouldn't even make it out the group, and now they have, at worst a crack at a bronze medal. The celebration is app in these circumstances, in fact if that happens and they beat England in the bronze playoff(assuming all results), they will celebrate again as if they'd won the title. Contrast that with the likely celebration if England win it instead, or if the upset happens and either SA or nzl are there and they win it. A good example of an over celebration would be ire v sa in the group. Yes, Ireland played well and won an epic, but context was lost and they danced like it was a championship game. NZL and SA response after their respective qf wins show the understanding these teams have on context. They were epic games and fantastic victories but the fight isn't over, keep a lid on it and keep it for when you actually lift the cup.

No problem getting to the same place. Argi won in NZ and they were less than graceful about it. Similarly to Ireland. Some pretty raw sledging… it is absolutely personal. The crowd not respecting the haka… oh boy, that just added fuel to the fire foe NZ. Quiet determination.
i think it will be a SA vs NZ final but if England or Argentina were to somehow get the win i think it will be because England's kicking game Drop goals etc slowing down the ruck and kicking for territory , they did that to Argentina in their pool game with 14 men on the field .George ford is making drop goals from the 50 metre line with ease. Argentina if they have good defense in the first 20minutes and stop all blacks attack and momentum in the first half then build enough momentum in the second half they could very well steal it from the all blacks , just like how they stole it off wales . thats the only way i see Argentina or England win
Over-celebrating cannot be associated with Argentina when it comes to rugby. It'll only be their 2nd appearance in the semis. They'd have taken the semi-final spot if it was offered to them at the start of the tournament.
I think NZ will trash Argentina. I am not so sure about SA-England. England are certainly going to be placing a lot of focus on kicking. But the Boks will be ready.
What was wrong with Argentina's celebration!? Who expected Argentina to reach the semis!? They have nothing to lose and they could still be third. So it's massive
Pretty unprofessional of Dupont to criticize the referee. South Africa has a far more professional approach in this regard; they just don't comment on the ref's performance. They accept all referee decisions.
South Africa isn't really a true Southern hemisphere rugby country anymore. They play most of their club- and franchise rugby in the Northern hemisphere nowadays. The biggest problem for South Africa is to psych themselves up for next weekend. England, despite their shaky record recently, is not some "second tier" rugby country. They have the third greatest number of rugby players of any country in the world, I believe, right up there with France and South Africa. I believe they are thoroughly capable of making life very difficult for SA and even beating them. Remember SA's loss to Japan and an almost loss to Fiji in the past, because they under-estimated the opposition.
The world doesn't quite understand what Brighton 2015 did to the springboks mindset. We will never forget and never underestimate an opponent, especially a tier 2 side, ever again. And as much as some consider England a tier 2 side, the boks and most saffa's do not. After the all blacks, the English are our greatest rivals so all the focus will be solely on them. And if other believe the boks can't back the performance against France up again this week, I'm not sure what makes you think that. 2019, boks put in 3 big performances in row to win the whole show, getting better each week with the best of the lot in the final, this was not by accident, this was planning and preparation by bok management. Rest assured, the boks will rock up against the english. The question is, will England?
I wonder if another emotional driver for the All Blacks was the way the Irish fans tried to drown out the haka…? Would Kiwis see that as disrespectful?
Fiji could have been so much better... way too many mistakes.. poor kicking for touch with penalties. Only really start going for it in the last 20 min it seems... anyway. . Hopefully improve on the things that separate tier 1 from tier 2.
Fantastic to watch .. showed ‘ football ‘ what a waste of time that is to watch … and to top it off I did the 4 winners in an accumulator £10 and won £177 .. … NZ v SA final .. and fancy SA to hold onto title .. 😉. ( but pray England win it obviously )
England know how to play knockout rugby. Boks know and respect the English. It will be won by boks but not a blowout. England will plat percentage rugby, low risk buy winning style. The food news for boks is we invented that game style. So we should know how to beat it. Argentina have been getting steadily better and have a big game in them still. AB's like Argentina are getting better. NZ to win, but again, not a blowout. Expect Boks and AB's to be in control all game but no fireworks
@maccleba6721 yes I agree there is real risk if we underestimate the threat England pose. England when they are at their best play a forwards dominated game like SA. Luckily they seem to have lost the plot and fallen for trying to be like NZ ..hehehe. Have to build on your strengths not abandon them.
They checked it though, and cleared it. Ramos took 4 seconds to kick and first took a step back before advancing. Checking was cleared to advance as soon as Ramos took a step back, and it’s very possible to run 20m in 4 seconds
As far as rivalries goes, NH vs SH doesn't matter, its only SA (3wins) vs NZ (3wins) , the rest are all irrelevant. the Southern Hemisphere will win their 9th RWC out of 10 attempts this year, there's no rivalry outside of that. If SA wins this World cup, they will be 4/8 = 50% win rate at World cups, that's impressive.
ALFRED AM BACK AGAIN ENGLAND IS A PUB SIDE!!!NO CHANCE AGAINST SOUTH ÁFRICA,,SOUTH ÁFRICA WILL BEAT ENGLAND EASILY AND GO ON TO WIN FINAL AGAINST ALL BLACKS
You're kidding right 😂 Curry gets red after 1 minute in the opening game but still put 30 on Argentina with 14 men all game, Eztzebeth full headbutts a French player in the face and slaps down a try scoring pass gets yellow? I'd sit down if I were you.
Two chances fat chance and no chance. The gulf in quality and ability is too great. Yes England can give it their all for this one game and England have not had to show their hand, so easy was their draw, but the step up will be too great.

Remember SA's loss to Japan and an almost loss to Fiji in the past, because they under-estimated the opposition.
dude england wont beat SA just keep dreaming ..
dear rassie. Don't forget that farrell plays for England. There we go, they now have motivation! Cheers.
It's Chinese.
@@sihlethomas6676most certainly have heard that before plus lots of SA crying afterwards
What are you talking about, England celebrate a knock on/ scrum win/maul turn over like mad men, like they won the worldcup multiple times a game
I find this global Fiji love-in bizarre. It’s almost slightly patronising. They’re good, but they lost two. Next.
There’s no SH vs NH rivalry. 8 WCs vs 1 WC. 3 greatest rugby nations ever in the SH, the North is nowhere good enough to even be considered a rival.
NH will always be lil bro
@@amekgomo5250 Try imaginary friend.
Kolbe charge down unreal ?
What was unreal was no TMO just to check it was ok.
What a shame.
It’s not serious to do that on a quarter final.
How do you know the tmo did not check behind the scenes?
They checked it though, and cleared it. Ramos took 4 seconds to kick and first took a step back before advancing. Checking was cleared to advance as soon as Ramos took a step back, and it’s very possible to run 20m in 4 seconds
Dont under estimate anyone
As far as rivalries goes, NH vs SH doesn't matter, its only SA (3wins) vs NZ (3wins) , the rest are all irrelevant. the Southern Hemisphere will win their 9th RWC out of 10 attempts this year, there's no rivalry outside of that.
If SA wins this World cup, they will be 4/8 = 50% win rate at World cups, that's impressive.
I dont get this whole dont celebrate a big win thing..... just walk off the pitch and go home afterwards ah yeah nice one lads you can leave now
Still so upset and disappointed
How can England beat South Africa ?
Drop goal city that’s how 🤣
chargedown should have been a penalty to France
Wrong. You don't get a penalty for a charge down even if it wasn't legal.
ALFRED AM BACK AGAIN ENGLAND IS A PUB SIDE!!!NO CHANCE AGAINST SOUTH ÁFRICA,,SOUTH ÁFRICA WILL BEAT ENGLAND EASILY AND GO ON TO WIN FINAL AGAINST ALL BLACKS
Makes me want to puke when england over celebrate for a opposition knock on ... pathetic !
A bit like not putting there second place medals around there heads last word cup....
take an aspirin loser
@@Zion_Bearicusare you a racist what's the problem?
The Referees have been pushing the English side through since b4 the tournament... I foresee the Boks biggest challenge being the Referee
You're kidding right 😂 Curry gets red after 1 minute in the opening game but still put 30 on Argentina with 14 men all game, Eztzebeth full headbutts a French player in the face and slaps down a try scoring pass gets yellow? I'd sit down if I were you.
check your filter mate... best to just turn it off. You look like you're gonna melt into the walls.
Is this bloke even English??
I’m hoping england can do to SA what they did to the AB last time.
Two chances fat chance and no chance. The gulf in quality and ability is too great. Yes England can give it their all for this one game and England have not had to show their hand, so easy was their draw, but the step up will be too great.
I'm loving all the hostility towards us
Two chances, slim and none, and Slim's a long way out of town. Hehe.@@peterlangan1181
We all know who’s facing up a the final. Bring it on.
😊👎
I feel for the French. Etzebeth deliberately knocked the ball on, and his head clash had no mitigating circumstances...
You talking kak...
You need to know the rules before you open your big mouth.
