Y’all saying the shoe has no link or reminder to Korea aren’t understanding the point. It’s not a “tribute” per se, it’s that this particular AM1 was crafted by Nike South Korea in a regional style. It was never supposed to have flags or something on it 😂 Some South Koreans can elaborate better on the look. Either way the shoe is 🔥, this is for that “grown man” fit; it’s retro, it’s premium, it’s neutral, 🔥
It looks and feels like a deconstructed design with the materials used and that black piping seem stitch. The big bubble also hits a home run with the inside out architecture design. If this was labelled an original Virgil Abloh design then the hypebeast would be all over it. It's even in an Off White colourway!!
This shoe is amazing, these might be slept on like the crep hemp since most ppl don’t like these kind of materials now a days. Don’t usually do but might double up. Thanks for reviewing as requested before, great review and will keep wearing my shoes ✌🏽
They are still sitting on SNKRS here in the US, basically a full size run. I think the 1500 pairs were how much was released on air max day or something.
Disregard the Korean theme. Compare this release to Virgil Abloh's Off White deconstructed design and take into account of the original AM1 big bubble design based on the Pompidou in Paris, combined with the black piping and the jute and hemp material giving this sneaker a true inside out deconstructed look. The wabi sabi tongue tag and the ghost stitch of the Nike branding on the heel tab, all screams Virgil Abloh design. Or what he tried to achieve. I prefer this one for it's subtlety and no hype.
They dropped in Europe on SNKRS day as well. Love me some big bubbles, but I didn't go for them for the same reason you gave: The canvas gets dirty easily and is hard to clean. They definitely don't really exude "Korea" to me either. At least not like the Japanese ones. The G-Dragon shoes are better at reminding you that they're Korean. The Kasina releases are, as well.
At first look I didn't like it. Then I reconsidered upon a closer look. The material looks like it was created inside out with the black piping reminiscent of the stitching of a seam from the underside of a garment. With the Off White colourway and the OG big bubble design reflecting Tinker Hatfield's inspiration of inside out architecture, this sneaker is the unofficial reimagined design that Virgil Abloh tried to achieve with the deconstructed Off White Nike collab. But this is better constructed and designed from a blank canvas without the silly 'Air' text and plastic zip tie. Better still, less hyped and more subtle than the overly priced Abloh models.
Yeah leather always going to be the best. That canvas and textile material just don’t look as nice. And I could definitely be reaching with the black lines 😆😂
Got these on snkrs day in Australia, i like the materials on this one, definately unique!

@@soleinclined Hi bro, if I'm 9.5 in AF1 what size would you recommend me to buy this AM1 Korea?
I really wanted this one. I hate that it was only 1,500 pairs. Also it didn't even pop up in my SNKRS app too and im in the US too

@@mikepeifer6502 yeah it was 1500 for that event correct but I think it was sneakers day. I forgot the name for some reason LOL
I want the world make Japan Jordan 1 lows but I didn't get access to them on "snkrs day"🤦🏻♂️😒
Sorry to hear 😔
@@soleinclined resell is around $170 so it's not unobtainable but a retail cop is always better😅
This edition is heavier than the first OG red/white colorway released not long ago.
YEAH THOSE ARE NICE
THE ONLY AIR MAX I REALLY LIKE AS WELL BRO

So far I have all three of the big bubble that came out this year and these are a easy pass
I respect that! 🙌

Love the colorways, love the big bubble of height, but omfg this shoes is just unforcomtable.
won raffle but passed cuz of the materials 😅. the black lines has no inspiration to korea imho

@@soleinclined i’m a fan of textile or mesh, just not the potato sack canvas 🤣
