Great vid. I love your take on reformulations heard in multiple vids. So refreshing, basically buy it or not, stop going on and on abt it. Love it. Got the itch for Une Rose.
Excellent video once again. IMO you have the best Frederic Malle series on TH-cam right now. I'm only familiar with Portrait of a Lady and it's one of my least favorite Malle unfortunately. Too strong on the ISO E Super and patchouli in the base. I need to try the others.
I bought a full bottle of Rose Tonnerre and Rose & Cuir recently. I was waiting for a low enough price from discounters but seeing prices continue to rise up, I thought now was the time to bite. I quite enjoy Lipstick Rose, which seems like a more fleshed out version of Chanel's Msia to me. POAL should be something I like, but somehow I never wanted it enough. It's very well made though. I might bite if I see a low enough price or a miniature. Supposedly they use to advertise like 10% rose oil was used...I don't know if this was true...a blogger told me. Although 10% would have exceed IFRA restrictions and possibly it was a rose extract with the allergens removed. About Rose Tonnerre and Une Rose, I've heard many many times from women who have been long time perfumistas (50+ years) about the tragedy of its reformulation. They never complain about reformulations unless it's Une Rose lol. For me, my relationship has always been with the modern Une Rose/ Rose Tonnerre. Its just a happy and joyful reconstructed/ deconstructed rose to me.
(Une Rose/Rose Tonnere) is super complex to me, I own it and in each season it can smell a bit different, it does feel a bit like an russian roulette, sometimes it can smell a bit too harsh but other times the most expensive smelling rose scent
@@sepehrabdoli489 yea totally! To be honest I wasn't totally loving it the last time I wore it, I think it was still a bit too warm and humid. It's a real shapeshifter depending on climate and my mood!
@@cheapimitation2242 this might sound delulu, but I also have noticed that you really have to spray this gently like twice or three time max in different skin spot, I feel like if you spray it at the same spot it makes it go bad and extremely sour
What a great overview, inspired me to take out some of mine.Much like you, I have a nostalgic affinity with the brand. I discovered the line at Barney’s here in LA at the beginning of my fragrance journey. Lipstick Rose is great and the shower gel was really nice. I ended up going with Portrait about the time it came out. It is gorgeous but it devours me and sadly sits barely used. Lipstick still tempts me from time to time. BTW liking the tableau you always set up for reviews👍🏽
@@frankangel2833 ooh Lipstick Rose in the shower does sound nice! You may like Portrait more now, it only took me 10+ years to come around to it. 😂 I do believe people who say it's less strong now are correct, but still smells great to me and I might say I like it even more now than the earlier versions since it's less over powering.
nice video! i luuuurve roses but Une Rose is so dark and almost Addams Family-esque that I struggle to wear it here in sunny Southern California. Strange, because i don’t find it “heavy,” just moody. a beautiful and strange perfume.
Loving the videos! All of these are great imo, but The Night and Rose & Cuir are the only Malle roses I own atm. Regretfully sold Une Rose, looking to get another soon... Cheers!
@@paulhayns wish I could've included The Night here but I've only tested it once in passing at the Malle boutique. If I ever get the chance to know it better I will post my impressions!

I've always seen POAL as an early sketch for the modern rose-oud profiles. I need to revisit it again soon.
