I’m so glad I’ve discovered your channel!! I’m 47 years old, and have a race car. I’m tired of seeing the vinyl wrap designs, and I actually want to letter my own car and use “mental” artwork instead of computer artwork. The pouncing is what I most wanted to learn, and you’ve explained it enough to me that I think I’m capable of doing it. Thank you!
Thank you!! This is wonderful! I love lettering and was asked to paint lettering on a truck... so I scrambling to learn the process, and this is so helpful!! I can't wait to watch more of your videos!
I keep coming back to you! Thanks so much for your excellent instruction - but also because I love listening to you and watching you execute your craft so well. I finally subscribed, liked, and hit the bell. I appreciate you so much. Also, I too, had a hard time finding a pounce wheel - I did finally find one at Dick Blick (didn't come up in the search until I typed in "tracing wheel" and there is in fact a 7/16" wheel for about $11. I plan to hand paint some beautiful signs for our buildings, and I'm practicing your techniques. Much love to you! Thanks again. There's nothing like hand-painted lettering.
"It'll make you feel real good." 🤩 This video made me feel real good! Thanks for the video. Super informative and easy to follow! I appreciate the straight forward presentation. Subscribing and going to watch past videos, I'm trying to learn the craft! ❤️
To the nitty gritty Darla from a Brit 🇬🇧 (we are renowned for our stiff upper lip💂🏻♀️😂) a big thank you for passing on your expertise 👍😉 I am learning something new with every video you make - looking forward to the next one - many thanks again 👍😃
Hey Darla Dee! I've had favorable pounce results using powder from the bottom of a bag of grill charcoal. It's much cheaper per bag and would otherwise go to waste. Thanks for your videos! They are a tremendous help and inspiration. Looking forward to more. Will
What an awesome idea. I never would have thought about the charcoal dust from a bag at the grocery store and it's close to brilliant. I hope my videos help but I have to say this is only my way of getting the job done. Because of Facebook I've become acquainted with so many other wonderful sign painters that know far more than me. It's a little overwhelming but my goal is to show the craft to my grandchildren and so I continue. It's a pleasure to meet you, Will.
Micro Mark Tools, who supply the model building community, has a 3-piece pounce wheel set. We use them to pierce balsa wood and divet styrene plastic. They should work well for a pounce pattern!
Glad to see that you are feeling well enough to carry on producing your superb instructive videos Thanks so much Regards Chris (UK) P S Your son's bench and easel looks great
Great video! I've watched them all so far. Really interesting to hear how you do your pounce bags with the cotton. P.S. if you really miss the cotton on the roll, and need it for anything, head to a Sally Beauty store (or any good beauty supply store that sells hair dyes). They sell the cotton on a roll in 40 foot lengths. Best to you, and I'm looking forward to seeing more videos on here if you do them!
Old people time, is as good as any other time. Regarding the pounce wheel. Could you use one of those wheels they use for sewing patterns? I would like to see both use of the tape and the no tape way of doing it if at all possible.
The sewing wheel isn't intended to punch holes and so it won't work. It works with carbon paper of all colors. It's not a bad idea to show both taped lettering and freehand so I appreciate the suggestion. Thanks for your support.
You get to the nitty gritty of sign lettering which is a breath of fresh air compared to many. Please keep the videos coming.

I love the term nitty-gritty. I'm a sign painters daughter and the mother of three sons. Because of circumstances nitty-gritty describes me well. lol

Wow Joel, thank you so much. As grandma for me to be called cool puts a smile on my face.
Oh oh, the translation is so funny !
Hey Darla, for the white pounce bag, do you use just straight baby powder?
baby powder cut with chalk line chalk from any hardware store.
Thank you again for sharing. Instead of blu powder is it possible to use a painting black oxide powder?
Hello Petrik - Thank you for watching and for sharing. I appreciate you!
