Hello and welcome again to our CCNA Course series; today, we will be discussing 3 Tier and 2 Tier Network Architecture. Let's get started!
What is 3 Tier Network Architecture?
An architecture based on 3-tiers is a type of software architecture consisting of three logical layers or "tiers". Often, they are used as a specific type of client-server system in applications. As client-server architecture, the three-tier architecture allows functional process logic, computer data storage, data access, and user interface to be accessed like independent modules on separate platforms.
It provides developers with the ability to update or replace only specific parts of the application without affecting the entire product. Also, it gives enterprises greater flexibility in implementing new technologies as soon as they become available and is suitable to connect a campus area network.
The three layers of network that 3-tier network architecture consists of are as follows:
Access Layer
Distribution Layer
Core Layer
What is 2 Tier Network Architecture?
In a two-tier architecture, the data structure is stored on a server while the presentation layer runs on a client. In this type of network architecture, the communication takes place directly between the client and the server; there is no intermediate available between them. This design is suitable for small offices or buildings.
The 2-tier network architecture consists of two layers of network that are given below:
Access Layer
Collapse Core (we have combined distribution and core layer)
