Great list. Wickerman really surprised me, it feels much faster than it looks, and the 'woody' noise from the track and the train as you are riding is fantastic.
I’ve always thought Air (Galactica WITHOUT VR) at Alton Towers was one of the best and most underrated!
Especially at night, always a great ride going through the trees.
My favourite too m8

SAME
I found the Wickerman seriously impressive. Definitely made me feel better about the removal of the log flume.
I done nemesis 32 times on the trot
Who thinks they build oblivion at the beginning of nemesis to make nemesis-oblivion
This would beat any ride at the park give nemesis a new life and make space for a new ride
Do you think that would beat wickerman in my opinion it would
@@madyottoyotto3055won’t ever happen, not enough space probs
Was it removed because of the accident a couple years back in the log flume?
Good to see the ultimate made the list, I love that ride unconditionally
It’s such a unique coaster it just had to be in this list!
yes I love having neck ache for the remainder of the day
@@theprogamerz2895 its part of the fun of the ultimate
I hadn’t realised it was opened in ‘91, it means it’s less than a year younger than me!
I love the Ultimate but I wish they'd change the cars to make it more comfortable! My neck was hurting for days last time we were there - mind we did ride it 6 times 😂😂
I hope Oblivion is on this list, it’s my current favourite!
After watching: That’s sad, I really enjoy the drop.
I agree. It’s short but it’s amazing
Saw the ride is my favourite coaster in the UK. So underrated in my opinion
The drops are sick it’s prob my fav lol
Best theming but far too short for me, if it was longer I'd absolutely agree with you
I agree it’s so intense on the drop which makes it the best
I do think it’s an excellent ride. A little rough tho
I had the worst headache coming off that coaster, but I still fucking loved it.
1. Stealth 2. Smiler 3. Nemesis 4. Rita 5.Megaphobia 6. Oblivion 7. Speed 8. Galactica 9. Dragons fury 10. Vampire
Yeah I love Rita but a lot of people find it a bit boring.
rita is way to high on this list. it has no inversions whatsoever and doesnt even last 30 seconds. the only good thing is the launch which is still slower then stealths. and the queue time is unbelievable for such a short ride
I love how the best part of Wickerman (the S bend) was designed by John Wardley. Imagine if the whole ride was!
I'm glad icon is at the top of the list! I love Blackpool pleasure beach and I've been going for years now and to see that so many people rank Icon as there number 1. Coaster, it really does make me happy. The park in general needs alot more appreciation and i couldn't agree with you more! 😊
I appreciate your park because of the Pepsi max Big one, which is my favourite there.
Nemesis holds a special place in my heart as the first roller coaster I went on ever
We all got to respect this man he’s so enthusiastic and really cares about bringing us good content whilst we are sat inside. Keep it up Shawn your doing amazing. Also I just realised that the oddessy is on this list. I actually got stuck on this ride as the brakes in the station were not working and we were stuck on there for an hour whilst the track was smoking.
Thank you for your kind words. Thanks for sharing your story from Odyssey, that doesn’t sound good at all!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide no problem. Also I would love to see a list of your favourite Halloween events at the different parks that do them. I’m interested to know!
Nemesis, Odyssey & Smiler are my personal favourites. Used to be the Swarm when it had the backwards row feature.
Great choices!
Swarm is the best read mine
1.) Smiler
2.) Icon
3.) Nemesis
4.) Stealth
5.) Swarm
6.) Saw The Ride
7.) Wickerman
8.) Megafobia
9.) Galactica
10.) Big One
Im never going on the smiler and if I do I will be at the back remember the crash
@@yes.4795 the smiler is safer than ever now, they have altered it a lot to make it very safe. It was human error.
Saw but not inferno?
Fantasy Island is a place I've been so many times. Mostly twice a year when I was younger but never actually been on the rollercoasters, I don't really have stomach for them but they always look amazing
I love Smiler and Nemesis 😊 those two are definitely my favourite rides in the UK. I personally think Icon is overrated, but that’s just my opinion and I’ve never had the privilege of riding Wicker Man yet so I can’t comment on that one lol. I still think I’d prefer Smiler though! 😅
Edit: and what I remember from Swarm I really enjoyed that as well. 😊
I nearly got to go alton tomorrow but can't get there in time :(
I done nemesis 32 times on the trot.
Who thinks they build oblivion at the beginning of nemesis to make nemesis-oblivion
This would beat any ride at the park give nemesis a new life and make space for a new ride.
What do you think¿?
Nemesis will always be my fav but smiler and the swarm are just behind
Never been on icon :(
@@danielledewitt1 I’m really hoping I can get out their this year
That's my Top 3 for the UK, in that order 👍
@@danielledewitt1 yeah blackpool is the best park in uk
Icon is the best in my opinion followed by swarm smiler and nemesis
Great list, personally I can't understand the Swarm beating Nemesis, Swarm always feels too subdued and gentle compared to the savageness of Nemesis. Also, I know its not much of a coaster due to the extremely short ride time, but for pure thrills, Oblivion has to be up there!
I rode Odyssey 4 times in a row where there was no queue, and its safe to say i didn't feel very well afterwards! BEST rollercoaster that i have ever been on though. The view, G-Force and the fact you are hanging off the rails at stupid heights in the air just makes it something else!
Great list
10 speed no limit
9 Rita
8 nemesis inferno
7 th13teen
6 stealth
5 oblivion
4 swarm
3 colossus I find it quite smooth real and it is good
2 icon
1 smiler
Im so glad to see swarm get the respect it deserves, I respect this list! ❤ Thanks Shawn
Absolutely incredible list as always Shawn, really appreciate the time and effort you've been putting into these videos recently! It's always been between Icon and Nemesis for my UK top spot, but I'm more shocked that I've been watching your channel for years and didn't realise you preferred Swarm to Nemesis!!
Thank you very much. I do indeed enjoy The Swarm more than Nemesis!
@@ThemeParkWorldwidebefore my first time on icon exactly 12 months ago I’ve never ridden upside down rollercoasters or anything like that and I got in the queue ASATPO and only saw empty rollercoasters go and they went really slow so wasn’t expecting it to go so fast. Glad I was tricked by my sister to go on it. Wasn’t glad at the time 🤣
Nemesis always reminds me of secondary school trips to alton towers. Love it. Special mention to the Big One also especially when riding at night.
I love the odyssey, so happy to see it on the list
It’s a great ride. Very underrated in my opinion!
Hi, nice to see you here!
Hey, nice to see you too
1. Nemesis - Alton Towers
2. Mumbo Jumbo - Flamingo Land
3. Wicker Man - Alton Towers
4. Kumali - Flamingo Land
5. Stormchaser - Paultons Park
6. Rattlesnake - Chessington
7. Cobra - Paultons Park
8. Flight of the Pterosaur - Paultons Park
9. Oblivion - Alton Towers
10. Swarm - Thorpe Park
Agreed mate 👍
I've just been to Blackpool a few days ago, with getting a front row seat on 'icon' and 'the big one'. The big one was actually quite rough, but icon really a was multi-launch coaster at its best.
Fun Fact:
Since The Ultimate closed, The Big One became the longest rollercoaster in Europe.
Just came back from 2 days at Alton towers and I have to say the wicker man seems a lot more intense and faster than 43 mph!
I thought this too! Had my first ride last year and even just from the queue i think it looks alot faster and intense than the stats would have you believe
When I was 10 it was like the most insane thing ever
My favourite UK coasters: Nemesis,Stealth,Icon,Wicker Man, The Smiler and The Swarm. I love it that you mention now also EU mesurements, that's nice 👍🏻🤟🏻.
Awesome list! Thanks for watching!
The smiler for me is the theme. It's theme especially for the UK is amazing IMO. I love how the story around it works so well, I feel like this is a ride I'd want to go on at night because of the lighting and visual effects.. BUT I could never ride this, I get motion sickness so most rides are off limit for me unfortunately. Though next time I go to a theme park I'm going to take travel sickness pills the night before and on the day too see if that works
Welcome back ! Kiss Kiss to my fav Lobbster as well. Hope the Worm had a good Christmas. Looking forward to sharing 2021 with you.
We can’t wait to get back in the parks! We’ve got plenty lined up for 2021 so fingers crossed!
18:09 That didn’t age too well
This nemesis poster is nemesis inferno from thorpe park. I have been there one time
I think it’s black mamba, Nemesis inferno has red restraints not white, also, that Nemesis poster in from 1994, when the beast opened, Nemesis inferno opened in 2002, so it is literally impossible for it to be nemesis inferno.
My list:
10: Rita
9:Grand national
8: Saw the ride
7: Colossus
6: Wickerman
5: Nemesis inferno
4: The swarm
3: The smiler
2: Icon
1: Nemesis
I would put stealth somewhere but I’ve only done one ride so it’s hard to rate :)
Stealth is way better than Rita
Thanks for the video, this is well put together and I love your passion 💪🏻
The Ultimate was my first ever coaster many years ago. Can’t wait to get back out there when theme parks reopen!
Sadly I think there may well be a chance that The Ultimate has sadly had its last run. It isn’t operating this year and Lightwater Valley are removing all their thrill rides as they retool the park towards children under the age of 12.
I like that you have explained the rides, because like the first one, I've never seen it before, and is interesting to know about
There better be the smiler in this!
I just turned 1.4 this year and it’s my favourite!
It’s in the list!
Good to see you've updated to the 1.4 version!
@@sheep8128 what's 1.4
@@igee1605 He meant to say 14, but did a typo and said 1.4, which is usually a game version.
I assumed it was 1.4m, and thus tall enough to ride it
Haven't been to Blackpool in 12 years so I've never had the pleasure of riding Icon. She looks so graceful and precise, the way she takes those inversions is so beautiful, I really hope to ride one day soon.
Icon is incredible. I've said it elsewhere - no headline grabbing numbers, not tallest, fastest, most inversions... but it is sooo smooth, and the way it twists and turns, weaves its way between the other coasters at blackpool, the immelman, the air time, its just sublime You come away from this ride grinning. It divides coaster lovers but for me it is a perfect example of the art of building a coaster.
Went on it last week 1st time people saying everywhere its one of the best it definitely lived up to it such an intense ride
Yesss! I’ve wanted this for SO long!
It’s great to have the time to film more countdown videos for you all to enjoy!
I just want to say I absolutely adore you guys! You're amazing. I would say my top ten rollercoasters in the UK are from Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Alton Towers, Chessington and Oakwood: Bid Dipper, Revolution, Avalanche, Nickelodeon Streak, Grand National, Th13teen, Vampire, Dragon's Fury, Megaphobia and Speed xx
Thank you very much!
I still have to go for nemesis, it's one of the first coasters I went on when I went for a year 10 trip at school. Thirteen is great, but I do have a soft spot for nemesis though. Busch Gardens florida still hold the best coasters for me, you can't go wrong with montu and I was on one of the first rides of gwazi when it was originally built. Excellent rides.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the rollercoaster at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach. Happy childhood memories and it’s still great. My family and I went on it so many times last summer with the excellent unlimited ride offer the Pleasure Beach did in between lockdowns. Great video again Shawn.
If you get a good brake man remember it well from my childhood
Yes definitely it makes a huge difference how the brakeman is. So much better at the back as well although the front seat is nice for the views.
It’s a great coaster!
While I love Odyssey's layout, views and the insane forces it pulls, I had some really bad jackhammering (to the point where my head felt like a sandbag being pummelled by a skilled boxer) when I rode it today; especially next to the much smoother Millennium.
It's still a great ride don't get me wrong, but definitely one of those kinds that would _really_ benefit from being updated with the new SLC vest restraints. That way, you could enjoy all it has to offer more without having to fight against it as much.
Nemesis will always win it for me. There are faster rides, there are more inversions on other rides, but if you were there in the first season in 1994 you'll understand where I'm coming from. They hyped it up so much with the TV adverts, the takeover of the drinks machines UK-wide, and the attention to detail in the new Forbidden Valley, that when you got there you never realised or cared you'd queued for 3.5 hours - you just wanted to have done it.
The queue line itself was a lesson in how to do it properly, up the entrance path, snaking up and down to the top of the lift hill, never too far from the ride, and an extension to the top of the loop opposite the station - the fence posts are still there, though the queue extension probably doesn't go that far these days. All the while, you'd have the OG theme music (far more sinister than the modern equivalent) playing through strategically placed speakers, interrupted by the occasional screams of the earliest riders zooming over your head by just a few feet. Finally, you queued over the narrow, rusty, bridge to the stairs that leads to the Beast - or so you thought!
In the old days you had to go straight ahead up another hill, to where the lift hill for G***ctica is now (you can still see the start and end of the extension path, very overgrown) the EQT from the top of the stairs was 30 minutes IIRC at the busiest times. Then you got in. And it was so so much better than anything that was around in the UK before, which was probably the Corkscrew, and the old Python ride in DMTP (Vampire was crap in 94 and NO IT WAS NOT AN INVERTED COASTER IT WAS A SUSPENDED TRAIN).
I've ridden every coaster in Alton Towers since 1988. None of them have ever had the cultural impact that Nemesis had. It was a generational thing to us, but it's amazing to see the recognition "the wife", as my would-be daughter-in-law calls it, still gets today. We love her, and we'll miss her grieviously when she eventually goes, so make the most of her!
I've only been on Stealth once and jt was front row and I was so nervous, if I go on a coaster for the first time I prefer to be in the middle but I'm so glad I got the front row in the end it was 100% worth the mild anxiety I was feeling 😅😅😅
Personally my favourite coaster is The Smiler
Icon is deffo my fave ride in the UK although I do have a soft spot for Nemesis but she was rough when we rode in September!!thanks so much for sharing - we enjoyed watching x
Britain has some great rides, and although we have great themed rides we have plenty of coasters that don’t have any decoration yet stand out due to thrills! Here’s my top 10:
10) Oblivion: every time I ride this my opinion changes. But for its historical importance, unique concept for the time, amazing theming and being the definition of a Alton ride it has to be in the top 10
9) Ultimate: you said everything perfectly! Can’t really add anything other than it’s a essential ride
8) 13: Controversial take but it’s a great little ride. Often overlooked by the Alton big dogs but the theme and general surprise of the drop never got old to me
7) Velocity. I bet you weren’t expecting flamingo land but honestly it’s a feisty little ride. It just hits you with it’s launch and whist it’s not unique it is quite Intense. Plus the Motorbike cars are bearable compared to others.I Can totally get why people wouldn’t like it though.
6) stealth: just what you said again. It’s a great ride with a stunning top hat curve. My main issue is the back row is quite rough compared to the relative smoothness of the front
5) Big one: it’s a standard coaster that delivers beautifully. The Jewel of Blackpool and deserves to be top 5
4) Swarm: Wing coasters are surprisingly graceful and the the theme really elevates this. But it’s just too short.
3) icon: It’s iconic (pun intended). Just a thrill to ride. Great launches and a creative layout! The second half punches you!
2) Smiler: Theming, innovation, inversions. It’s great. When it’s running smoothly it’s just fun from start to finish.
1) Nemesis: It’s just godlike. A masterclass in coaster design and although it’s getting rough it’s still A classic ride
Honourable mention to Megafobia. Everything you said applies, it’s just a fun ride.
This is a fantastic list!
First time watching your channel. Went to Thorpe Park yesterday and wanted to see where the coasters there would rank because I thought they were the best of any theme park I’ve been to in UK. Amazing video mate, very thorough with your explanations, your’re genuinely knowledgeable and have a passion for coasters. thanks for the great video. will be following
Thank you very much!
I have a lot less coasters to choose from but my top ten..
Runaway mine train
Icon
Thirteen
The smiler
Stealth
Oblivion
Colossus
The Swarm
The big one
Nemisis
Always makes me happy to see fantasy island get some love ^^
Great to see Megaphobia so high. I rode it last summer and it was so much fun, especially in that back row!
It’s epic, especially at night!
Could not agree more about icon.
It is so smooth and the queue line is really quick because sometimes it can have three trains on at once. But I would put the big one at number three and nemesis at two
Rode Stealth several times, a few times in the front, but never, and I mean *NEVER*, ride it when it's raining! It's like having an intensely painful and rapid acupuncture session on your face 😩
I would have agreed with your top 3! Until 6 months ago! I’ve ridden nemesis multiple times over 5 different days, first time back in 94 (I was 13) and last time was just after the first lockdown in 2020 (now 38). When I first rode it there was nothing else like it outside of the states, and even then I believe there was only 1! All I remember is being terrified! Riding Nemmy last year showed me what a animal it really is! Only coaster in the U.K. to make me grey out a little on that last banked turn! So I would still have it as the greatest coaster in the U.K. with icon a close second
First time riding the ultimate and it broke down on the lift hill, glad we got an extra go though👍
Nice to see Odyssey on the list, i am yet to get to Fantasy Island.
Couple underrated coaster imo are Kumali and Nemesis Inferno.
Great video again Shawn. 👍
Let’s hope you get to ride it at some point soon!
Been waiting for thisss!!!!
Heading to Blackpool in a couple of weeks time, really can't wait to ride Icon for the first time. First roller coaster I ever went on was at the Pleasure Beach, the Grand National back in 1985.
Honestly quite surprised to see Stealth on the list! It's definitely grown on me over the years (maybe my third favourite ride at Thorpe Park now) but I still wouldn't queue very long for it because it's such a short experience.
I queued 3 hours 😭 was worth it tho ✌️
I went on stealth and was disappointed 😭 it just hurt my neck and was rlly boring. At least I only waited for abt 5 mins
Icon is one of my favourites just because of the speed you gets and the view of the pleasure beach you get
My favourite is and will always be icon it’s THE BEST

To answer your question re Stealth: I prefer the drop in the back and the launch equally in every seat. I'd say launch in front row and drop in back car (last two rows). My top four are 4: Megaphobia in the back car, 3: Swarm in the back outside right, 2: Smiler and 1: Icon (although that's a guess since I've never ridden Megaphobia). Fantastic countdown, thanks for posting!

It’s an epic drop!

Nemesis and Icon always flip fop the number 1 spot for me. I love them both
Galactica is so underrated it’s so good
Ty
I'm not a coaster head (or whatever the correct terms are) and I've only been to Chessington and Thorpe Park apart from a few seaside rides. We tend to go once or twice a year to Thorpe Park, and honestly one of the most underrated rides is Nemesis Inferno, which makes sense if Nemesis is the top 3. Short queues because it's older, a fast ride and some fun twists and turns.
Also Tidal Wave is the wettest you will ever get on a ride. Obviously not everyone likes that, but you hit the water to make a massive wave, then the track pushes you into it. Certain spots you'll get hit by the sheet of water you get pushed through, then a second part where the wave crashes on to you.
Colossus is one I hate though, I never go on it. It has 10 loops and that was its big selling point, but it's just so slow. Do it for an experience if you haven't been, but I have a severe distaste for that ride
