  • This video is Part 2 of my two-part video visit to the famous Greenfield Village, adjacent to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan (near Detroit). This follows my two-part video walk-through to the Henry Ford Museum, which kicks off my week-long "Michigan & Ohio Museum Odyssey".
I follow this historic village's Part 1 & Part 2 videos with a visit to the National Museum of the Great Lakes on Toledo, before heading to other museums in Ohio.

To your comment at 37:50: I agree with you. Mostly. I spent much of my career writing for video (commercials, programs, corporate video, training...etc) and my training, instinct and preference would be to shoot landscape, never portrait. And no doubt this same guy, like most everyone else, has a desktop or laptop computer and a massive flat-screen TV at home, *all* with horizontal screens. But in your video, he's not shooting for those screens. He's shooting for sharing via smartphone. And, indeed, it's mobile devices -- held vertically in normal use -- that are now "driving the bus" of video streaming. Even the lowly selfie is shot vertically. If this fellow was trying to be the next James Cameron, I'd agree he's not very intelligent. But the odds are great that he's just a guy shooting some "I was there" images for friends and family.

You missed a tour of Henry and Clara Ford's mansion. It's located on the Rouge River approx. 2 miles away.

The comment on the roundhouse say s it's clear they don't use the turntable, but all the locomotives are kept in the roundhouse, which is confusing because how else would the locomotives get in and out of the roundhouse?

Jeff Brooks, I had a test comment in the video confirming that they DO use the turntable.

John P, I already went during this same museum odyssey.....it happened later in the trip and I have not edited the "update" video yet....it will not replace my existing 2-part walk through video
