Thank you! Worked! And easy! My hair straightener has different heat settings. Worked perfectly at 230 degrees F. Thanks also to Sarah A below for the warning about burning the receipt. I did not use tissue. I could not get it to darken until I went up to 230 degrees F. Actually, I skipped 210 degrees F and went from 190 degrees F to 230 degrees F.
Not sure if ultraviolet light will work but I would take a picture of those really valuable receipts before they deteriorate……the future looks more digital so hopefully won’t have to worry about it…..thanks for watching
Four years later... did it last? That is the whole point after all. Fix something that don't last (and should be illegal as they are used for warranties and depending on storage conditions can last less) and keep it last more, but, how much is more?.
A super star entertainer autographed my car fender with a felt tip marker that faded away even though the car was stored away. Is there a method to bring out the autograph??? Thanks!

Put receipt between tissue paper and use hair straightener quickly. Will turn receipt dark, and print is light.

Thanks for covering this. Yeah it’s good to take a photo of it when it’s new then store photo in appliance etc folder .
You can then scan it and then perform a black/white color inversion (if your scanner software provides this function.
