I was born there and went back to Bluefield the year you filmed this. Very clean town. The sky was beautiful the day you were filming.

When I was a kid all my relatives were old and now I'm old and still love the memories.

I grew up in Fayetteville, NC but went to Bluefield a lot during my childhood to visit family living there. My Aunt Mary Bourne lived directly across the street from Grace Methodist Church. I used to play on the steps of the church as a child when we would travel to Bluefield. The old high school (Beaver High) next door/above the church was where my mom went to high school. As a child, it was an ominous site to see. I always got a bit dizzy looking at it. I miss those days. Thank you for posting.

Great tour. Beautiful day. Like most little towns in West Virginia, sad, lonely, dying out.

    Thanks for the video.
I'm up in northeast u.s.a and bluefield was one of my choices for moving to.
You helped me out on my search and probably saved me a grand, if I had to travel there and check it out.

My grandparents lived in Bluefield. So many great memories. I still visit there. It's not the stereotypical dead coal town. Mercer mall is thriving. Lots of shops by the stadium.

I see the Granada still sits empty after seven years of work to reopen it as a cinema and theater arts center. What a pity. I guess there's just not enough interest. Like most of West Virginia, rich billionaires just take from the state and never give back.

They actually remodeled and reopened the Granada Theater in 2021,they basically show classic movies sometimes live entertainment.

@@larrbrown7277 Sarah Eaton. She lived below the church. I think it was Rogers Street, but I am not sure. Mom wanted to go to the 50th reunion of Beaver High but got sick and couldn't make it. I talked to someone named Eddie McQuail (sp?) about the reunion and let him know she wouldn't be able to make it. Mom and I were both disappointed. Like the Statler Brothers sang, my mom was Class of '57. She really wanted to go back for that reunion.

Years ago I took a Greyhound bus out of Bluefield. My uncles were coal miners and we drove from 🐆 Panther, West Virginia to Bluefield. Apparently the Greyhound Bus Station was mobile. They didn’t have a permanent building so it’s location kept moving around from building to building on different blocks. Boy did we think that was funny. 🤣 Only in West Virginia we said. Wild and Wonderful West Virginia! Thank you kindly for the tour and the fond memories. God bless all Coal Miners😇
