I just bought a new caliper with pads installed for 45$ and put it in took maybe 20 minutes
Jealous 🙄😂
I thought polaris snowmobile brake systems sucked...until I bought a trail boss. What a pain, I feel like a kid trying to figure out a brake job with a Haynes manual.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My pins came right out 😂
Better go buy a lottery ticket 😂
Thats when i just. Counterbore the pin holes and find a long socket head cap screw and turn the bolt down to the same diameter as the factory pins
That’d probably work!
What kind of lift is that?
It’s a snowmobile lift from Extreme Max
My problem with the rear is that no matter what I do the rear piston stays stuck out. My fronts are fine. I have a no idea what to do. I even got a different caliper to put on
Are you trying to rebuild it? There’s the push plunger in the rear so I’d make sure that isn’t froze and your piston is hitting that.
Just me or is it easy to find a new caliper online?
I couldn’t find a new one online 🤷🏻♂️
Where? I was looking and didn't see any.
Good job. I had watched that other video just like you but I had the exact same problem you did with those pins, and ended up basically doing the same thing. This was before finding your video. Rather then tacking a washer to the pins and letting the pins soak somewhat in penetrating oil, i ground the sides down on a cheap pair of vice grips, so i had more room. That coupled with the heat i was able to work them out an 1/8 of an inch to clamp another set of vice grips on. Your right this is a shit ass design and another problem im finding is, you cant find a new one, so repairing its all you can do. I am curious though, where did you find your kit for the rebuild? I havent seen anything with a new piston! I got my quad on a trade and im not even sure what the hell it is. He said its 96 trail boss 400. I look at stuff though on ebay, and things are really unclear. I just know my rear braking is just like yours.
If you look in my description I posted a link to it! Thanks for sharing how you did it! Maybe it’ll help someone too!
