  • All of AQA Electricity explained for your A Level Physics revision. This video is revision of all the material you will be taught in your first year of A Levels. It revises some of the GCSE content you will be familiar with, including current, potential difference and resistance. Component characteristics are covered with the IV graphs for resistors (ohmic conductors), filament bulbs and diodes. Resistivity is introduced and the way that some semi-conductors decrease their resistance with temperature and some materials even have zero resistance at really, really low temperatures.
    Circuit rules are covered that include the conservation of charge and energy, the resistance of resistor combinations, potential dividers and internal resistance and emf. A complete summary of the topic. Don't forget of course that there are hundreds of in depth videos on my website that explain everything in this video in even greater detail.
    Thanks for watching,
    Lewis

It enables you to word things in a way that is easily understandable and therefore benefit you. @Tjk_ SkaZeRe.m.f stands for electrotmotive force. It is essentially the total electrical energy supplied by the battery sent around the circuit. Units are V. The weird looking E represents e.m.f in the equation and is also the Greek letter known as epsilom. Hope I was able to answer your question.

    Just gonna add something, for the I-V characteristic graph for the diode, the line won’t starting going up from the origin because diodes have what’s called a threshold voltage meaning a current will only start flowing once the threshold voltage has been reached, for the diode shown in the video, this would be around 0.8 volts.

    • @samdicks9146
      @samdicks9146 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The resistance is proportional to the length : R = (resistivity x length)/area . Therefore when l = 0, r = 0, such as there being no resistor. Therefore as V = IR, there is no voltage.
