OMG!!! Although my family has a strong German linage, my grandmother & mom use to make Yorkshire puddings for special occasions and I absolutely loved them!!! I remember they both used beef drippings instead of oil. I'm a vegetarian now & although I think at one time I did find a recipe similar to yours I no longer have it, nor do I have the recipe from my grandmother, as 6 yrs ago I lost everything in a wildfire. You have no idea what this means to me to be able to more or less replicate one of my favorite foods from my childhood. And yes will definitely be making them. The other 2 recipes look delish as well.
Your Yorkshire puddings looked lovely and I'm going to try the pastry you made for the mince pies , the trifle reminded me of my Mum who always made the same kind of trifle but with home made custard which my late husband used to say you could build walls with ! 😊❤
I made the mince pies and the Yorkshire puddings tonight and they both turned out great! Mince has always been a favorite but now I’m in love with these puddings! Thank you so much for the recipe. Happy New Year!🎉
Hi Lynsey, I can’t wait to try the Yorkshire puddings. I will try your pastry too but not with mincemeat. I’m collecting the ingredients for the trifles. Thanks for sharing your recipes. I’ll let you know how they turn out. My grandma used to make everyone Christmas pudding - for each family. She made a whit sauce that is simple but delicious. 1 egg slightly beaten 1 tbsp cornstarch, mix well in saucepan Add 1 1/2 c warm water Cook until fairly thick. Take off heat and add 1 tsp butter and 1 tsp vanilla. Careful not to overcook or the egg will go stringy. Pour over pudding, serve warm. Have a very merry Christmas ❤
@ where did you get Devon custard in a can? I think we might have a British shop in Kelowna. I bought some Knorr pkg where you add milk. Hopefully it has the similar taste. I’m taking trifle to a luncheon tomorrow.
and Mrs T omg being british myself you have done those dishes exactly the same way i make mine only difference here we still have the jelly in cubes so well done i feel really hungry now
Hi Lynsey. Not only are you a talented crafter and home maker but also a good cook. Going to do that trifle and yorkshire puds. Its been windy in Sunderland today but didn't stop me doing the charity shops. Had a lovely day. Already planned going to the boxing day sales. Have a good week and a Happy Christmas.
I am certainly a jack of all trades ! But I am a not a cook 😞 I would rather paint it or upholster it than cook it 😉. I am envious I love the Uk especially at Christmas and I honestly believe you guys have the best charity shops in the world. Thrift for me honey and I will live vicariously through you ❤️🎄and have the merriest of Christmas’s
Thank you for sharing these recipes! I was looking for something to take to a New Years Eve gathering and I’ve found it! Mince pies (my favorite) and Yorkshire Puddings! Merry Christmas to you & yours and give Dudley a hug!
The Yorkshire pudding looks so good. How do you usually serve them? Why is it called a pudding? On another note, week before last, I asked about your cardboard fireplace video and wanted to thank you for the links you left. I have to say, I think yours turned out better then the others. I did make one for myself and I really love it. I sit and stair at it. It makes me feel like I'm in a doll house. Lol. Thank you Lynsey, for all your inspiration!
Firstly, I have no idea why they are called puddings, but we always serve them with roast beef or roast chicken and turkey. I’m so glad you made your fireplace and you love it❤️ I get so much joy from the things I make, redo and makeover, it’s better than buying new things. We my friend live outside the box ❤️
