It is interesting to note that even though Chandler hates his work and slacks off at it, he still managed to be one of the top executive people there!
Lies again? Feeling Tired Body Aches
Yeah, you’d think it was a TV show rather than real life. But surprisingly, there are a few people that this is their experience. Most people find out the hard way that life doesn’t model entertainment shows.
Chandler is the rare "he doesn't like what he's doing but is actually good at it" person.
@@gustiyanmahardika2560 oh im like that too. I work with cars... I dont own one and care nothing about them but im very good with them.
I knew people like that. They're just naturally good without even trying
Chandler, the only human who can alone finish a conversation that was supposed to be between two.
Him and Jim Carrey
I would add Ross too when he gave his only apartment keys to Mona.
His boss was definitely about to say maybe she could find someone else until he interrupted and drove the nails into his own coffin 😂
@@pjani14 So, if there are two of them....none of them qualify. Logic isn't one of your strong suits is it?
@@CorriganM08 It's not that deep, they just meant that both are unique in being able individually finish 2-people. conversations.
Rather than face a socially awkward situation, Chandler went to Yemen, told everyone an employee was mentally unstable rather than fire her, allowed himself to be called Toby, ruining a man's promotion in the process, and had to relocate to Tulsa.
Lol that's Chandler for you
If I had the means, so would I.
Pure definition of a passive person.
Making him the most believable person in the series.
he also started dating a coworker rather than have to fire her.
The boss barely said a word, Chandler just dug himself deeper and deeper.
that's the kind of guy i would fire :)... or move to Tulsa
IKR😂
What he should have done is go there and say how he was initially excited to have a chance to grow to meet the challenge of improving a struggling office and gain new skills, but after weighing his life here and discussing it with his wife, he decided he would be much better off in NYC, then offer to take on the responsibility to find a replacement to make the move out there or find another solution.
@@tmanepic you would think that Chandler is a smooth talker and can easily convince anyone with his words 🤣
Classic Chandler
RIP Chandler. You were the reason for me to get out of depression. Thanks for being such a great friend
Chandler isn’t dead, he is alive. It’s just the actor Perry who left us.
Stop.
Oh please
Chandler is his own worst enemy 😂😂
😂😂😂
Also Perry the actor a Doofus
I wanna return back in the future and tell him to not take baths 🤦♂ (hot at least)
You meant Matthew...
True that! Though I guess he is in second place after Ross
Chandler is basically that kid who got caught sleeping in class and is forced to answer a math equation.
Where else would you get caught sleeping?
@@Mopark25 * class I mean
@@karthu1993 I know just yanking your chain mate
When I was sleeping in class, teachers would first throw a piece of chalk right at my head to wake me up before any other kind of public humiliation. This was in the 70's, when I was in grade school.
@@tomsd8656 70s in India, if you were sleeping in class, they'd presume you were tired of the 2 river swims & 10 mile walk on the way to school...
Matthew Perry's acting is always more than perfect. Always surprising. We can watch these scenes a million times and never get tired.
Agree, but what I don't like about him is that he said a few times that he doesn't remember most of the episodes because he was drunk or had a hangover. If you look how he was acting, you can see a perfection and I really don't believe what he said. To act like that even if you are super talented, you have to be focused, disciplined and work hard be to that good.
@@redbull4fly797 maybe in thé interview was in Hangover....not in séries...🤣so...🤷🤷
Ross’ are better
@@redbull4fly797 Those were the earlier seasons to mid seasons. He was sober near the end. That's why he looks so healthy.
@@redbull4fly797he says in his memoir he was never high or drunk at work on Friends except for one time he flew too close to the sun with his addiction (he mentioned one of the cast elbowed him one time he nodded off during shooting) he was just drinking or doing drugs so much off the job that everything blurred together and he couldn’t remember distinct moments. You can still be highly functional at any job with a drug or alcohol problem.
Every time Chandler gets nervous he messes it up with his humour and sarcasm 🤣🤣
"You know how people say that Tulsa is the Paris of Oklahoma?" 🖤 thanks for the laughs, Matthew 🥺
Could he not have just said “I didn’t talk it over with my wife until after the meeting and she won’t go for it”? Like that’s makes it sound better than “I wasn’t listening to you since I was asleep” 😬
For real. And a life changing promotion would never be introduced this way to the one being promoted anyway. Nonetheless, it was still a funny scene.
Lol this is a sitcom, you can't expect people to act reasonably
Honesty is appreciated, sometimes
😂😂😂
It's hard to believe he was suffering so much. He was probably the funniest on the cast and one of the most beloved as well. It's so crazy he was so hard on himself. He made people laugh for many years and then got to live of the residuals.
I'm glad you're starting to grasp the concept of acting.
It's kind of like the line one of the show's characters (can't recall his name, but he made a couple appearances as one of Phoebe's boyfriends) said in reference to Chandler's use of humour as a coping/defense mechanism: "I'd hate to be there when the laughing stopped". Kinda prophetic and eerie in that both the character Chandler and actor Matthew Perry were struggling with inner demons.
Phoebe wanting to be a part of the conversation is soo funny 😂
Well I think it was more she didn't want to give into the room with hte crying baby.
@@joemckim1183 yea that's what.
If you ever want to be afraid of human (un-)intelligence, read TH-cam comments like this one.
@@Raison_d-etre I don't mean to be mean to the OP but, yeah, she just didn't want to be in the crying, diaper changing room.
Man just accepted his fate at the end. 😂
When you realize that Aunt Viv is the reason Chandler ends up in Tulsa.
Oh my goodness, didn't even realize
Noooo!Shiiieeeet!
LOL, I would have thought Aunt Viv would have wanted Chandler to move to LA or Phili
🤯🤯🤯. My mind was just blown. 😮😮😮
Thats it!!! No wonder she looks awfully familiar.
Guys who can monologue this well are next level actors!
This storyline was so unexpected, but boy did they make it work. And of course we all know how this plotline concluded, with a big turning point for Chandler's character.
And can you tell me what is it
@@tan2294 he left his job because he always hated it. Joined advertising agency that he loved and we saw him excelling in it by the end of the show.
@@ssardar8240actually we didn’t see him excel, they just didn’t mention his job.
@@joseeduardotschen9186well, considering they got a lovely house and were able to adopt both of the twins, I’d say he was excelling.
Everyone's mentioning Mathew Perry's performance here, and while as great as it is, he wasn't alone in that scene.
Let's not forget aunt Viv's performance that utilized only body language and gestures.
It's not only words that make up acting, and Janet Hubert nailed it here.
Cheers
Aunt Viv doesn’t even need to speak, she says EVERYTHING in just a look😂😂😂😂😂
great reference to Fresh Prince of Bel-Air 😊
I thought I recognised her lol

Why he said Oklahoma was a sooner state to New York?
@@nhatminh9896 Oklahoma's nickname is "The Sooner State" :)

@@joemckim1183 As I recall, there were so-called "unassigned" plots of land throughout Oklahoma when it was first made a state. Technically, it was all designated Native American territory, but the U.S. gov't has always been eager to displace natives and/or violate agreements with tribal leaders. The deal they gave new settlers was a lot of free land grants from the government on a first-come first-serve basis. So whoever got there "sooner" got the plots of land.
That said, given that I'm drawing from my remembrance of middle school U.S. history I'm sure there's something I'm missing there or something that's just plain not accurate.
Love Mathew Perry..take care man..You've given us some of the funniest moments that we won't ever forget.

One of the best moments in Friends ... R.I.P. Matthew
Sooner is part of Oklahoma history. When people first came to Oklahoma, there was a line of people just waiting on the border to move here because it was first come first serve in terms of land. People who crossed the border before they were legally allowed to were called 'sooners' and were shot. 🤣 weird fact I learned when I moved out here in Tulsa
How do u like it there?
@@QuietlyCurious Its ok, Im originally from Southern California, so compared to that its a lot slower out here. The food isn't great, especially Mexican food. Its all Tex Mex out here. Its hard to find good places to eat. Summers are very humid, lots of bugs. But there are public swimming pools and beautiful lakes out all over the state. And big storms during springtime. But schools are very good, a lot of money is put into education from what I can see. Its a great place to raise kids, its pretty cheap and there's a lot of great homeschooling options and community programs to get involved in. Playground are great to out here. Its very diverse in Tulsa to, I prefer it to OKC, which is from what I've seen, it can be pretty racist down there. If you do plan on moving out here, it better to live in the suburbs outside of Tulsa but still in the county. Places like Jenks, Bixby, or Broken Arrow. They're much better places to live, and the houses are huge and affordable!
@@angelaportillo6777 Nice! L.A. native here 🤗 My time has set in Cali. I'm about to relocate to TN, which like OK, sounds like a whole other world. I will definitely store away those points about Tulsa tho for the foreseeable future. Awesome that ur kids will enjoy the benefits of strong education 💪
@@QuietlyCurious Oklahoma is 42nd in public education and getting worse. Oklahoma ranks low in really most quality of life metrics, education, health/obesity, divorce. The push by state government is to defund public education and introduce legislation to use tax dollars for private schools, after all a student is a student. Because Oklahoma has comparative high poverty the haves don't want to having any mixing yet still want the state funding. Most of the private schools are based in religion. The weather is so so. Can be and gets extreme several times a year, hot and cold. The wind gets crazy and results in a lot of trash around. It's not even close to paradise. There are some nice burbs but they are getting crowed quickly. The rural towns are poor and getting worse by the day. Edit/ Lots of road rage in the cities and lots of people are packing. Open carry without permits. Everything Florida and Texas does Oklahoma follows and sometimes exceeds. I'd look elsewhere especially if you like spring which is horrible as day after day is completely ruined by high winds.
@@bobbywrongway6494 Oh my, thank you for the heads up!
It took me a while to realize that's the OG Aunt Vivian
There were three ways he could have handled this situation. 1. Tell his wife he got a promotion but it requires a move to Tulsa (I don't know if it's technically a promotion since he technically didn't get a pay raise BUT cost of living in Tulsa is significantly lower than where they lived at the time so even though it was the same pay they could have probably afforded a very nice house with land.) 2. He could have gone to his boss told her that he didn't discuss with his wife before hand then potentially worked his way out of it. But instead he chose option 3. Which was to chicken out at the first sign of anger and push back from both individuals
1 is the worst idea ever. Why would you lie to your freaking spouse about something so important??
@@emmak2971 thing is it's technically not a lie. I mean he IS getting a promotion but it just doesn't come with a pay raise but like I pointed out in the original comment his pay is worth A LOT more in Tulsa than its worth where they lived at the time. Due to the cost of living.
This feels like a situation Ross would have gotten himself into.
4:13 I remember visiting one of my friends back in HS & the house had a bunch of family portraits around the house… I pointed at one of the frames and called her “mom” pretty… turns out it was her father 😂
Fun fact: Chandler is a town in Oklahoma 😀
And just an hour drive from Tulsa.
Boy, that was fun
Fun fact: Chandler used to date a girl named Tulsa, then he moved on to Monica
I knew a guy who had to do this, but in KC. His wife didn’t go. They lived apart for six months. Then he got a new job back east. He said that KC was so boring he rode his motorcycle to Tulsa one day. He said that city was worse. Yes, he was from NYC. Realistically, Chandler never would have worked that long for the same company. People in those types of jobs are always jumping to another company for higher pay.
Maybe in the 90s the work culture was different. People didn’t think about moving from jobs to jobs then.
@@kittylover4974 No, KC sucks, can confirm. People move from jobs all the time even in the old days but downgrading to a lesser and more boring city always hurts.
@@robertthomas4633 it’s okay if you have a lot of money.
live in the suburbs of any major city its all the same...no difference.
Kansas City is a great place to live and work - depending on where in the city you live and work. You get a lot of the "small town" feel, with the amenities and whatnot of a much larger city; although, traffic is steadily getting worse, and public transport is lacking across the board. E.g. we could really use a metro-wide light rail system (NOT a streetcar - *COUGH KCMO COUGH*).
RIP Chandler.... the way he says 'Walter'....😆😆😆
Great actor!
Tulsa is just like Paris. You can still do whatever you want, just not have worry about speaking french.

Now Chandler is in heaven. RIP Matthew.
Aunt Viv already has to deal with Will at home, she ain’t taking it from chandler at work lmao
How did we gloss over Chandler was the president over an entire office. Albeit was in OK, but still! He had a NY salary in OK! That's nothing to sneeze at!

“Could you be…. anymore… pretentious…
How did Ross and Rachel become caricatures?
Also, Phoebe technically became meaner, but that was an entirely different problem.
Oh man. Why didn't he just say "My wife will divorce me if I move to Oklahoma" ? Oh, he did. But don't tell your boss you fell asleep in a meeting. She knows. that's why she sent you to Oklahoma.
