Suda is a huge wrestling fan and often incorporates wrestling related content in his other games. Looking forward to the next part of the series. I started with Fire Pro at X Premium on emulator, but Fire Pro Wrestling G was my first import game ever and I imported every Fire Pro since. I believe it was also the first game Tomoyuki Matsumoto worked on. He would become the director of Fire Pro Wrestling World and kept in touch with the community during the ups and downs of development. He worked with Masuda on Fire Pro G and knew him up until his passing and said it took five years of pitching Fire Pro Wrestling World to Spike-Chunsoft higher ups to finally get Fire Pro Wrestling World put into development. Even then he would get hamstrung several times by management who would steal members of his development team and replace them with members who did not know what was going causing a lot of turmoil and slowing development time down. Will you also cover Fire Pro's cousin series AJPW King's Soul and the King of Colosseum series? There is also a Fire Pro connection to the famous N64 AKI series as devs who worked on Fire Pro games would form AKI. I often say there is Fire Pro DNA in the AKI games. On Twitter Matsumoto says he would like to do a new Fire Pro game, but it would not be in the classic 2d format anymore as Fire Pro World marked the end of an era in the classic 2d style.
Hmm, I honestly did not know that the Fire Pro Wrestling and THQ/AKI games were related. What source do you have to cite such things? Honestly, people that are arguing about those games not being better than Fire Pro Wrestling are morons.
I would say this to Matsumoto...let me give him ideas to improve the franchise and he can make it in the classic 2D style, as there still is a huge audience for such games, even in Japan.

Hey PatMan, whereabouts in the series would you say the "locking horns" timing grapple animation changed from both wrestlers bending their knees to instead both wrestlers stomping the floor as the signal to input?
Fire Pro wrestling is a good series and it's a shame that we didn't get any of the games outside Japan till a decade later on GBA then PS2 and Now PS4.
Wrestling games never grabbed me and I haven't been a wrestling fan since I was 8. I've gotta Hand it yo you Pat. Not only have you made me interested in the subject, but I now want to check out some wrestling video games! This video series of yours is great. The only wrestling game I have is 3 Count Bout on the 161-in-one cartridge for the Neo Geo AES and I've never played it. I'm going to fire it up today. Who knows? I might buy some more wrestling games in the future. Thanks Pat!
Thank you for this great information
For many years I had been championing Fire Pro (since my first experience with Fire Pro 3 for PC engine) with almost no one every having heard of it. Even with the eventual release State side on PS2 and GBA many of my contemporaries still preferred the games based on WWE properties. Just really glad to see this video and know that someone somewhere also loves Fire Pro
Absolutely, I was actually shocked that so many people reacted to this video considering it's been mostly a Japanese only series. It's utterly fantastic though and it's neck and neck with no mercy as far as my favorite wrestling games of all time
Just discovered this franchise, wish I knew about it during the PS2 era. These import games were pretty hard to find in my country back then.
It's got a bit of a learning curve in the beginning but once you get down it's hard to beat
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries Really loving the gameplay so far. But I do think the user interface isn't optimal for console, I think I'll swap to the PC version. Thanks for the history lesson btw.
Cheers Pat, looking forward to part 3!
Thank you my friend
Star Man was my favorite. He had that back flip kick.
He was my favorite as well
All I had to see was Firepro in the description.....played all of these.....and am a diehard fan of the series.....all time favorites are Firepro D and Z......cant wait for part 2.....
Excellent, glad you enjoyed it :-) thanks
Great TOPIC of choice! thanks Patman!
Glad you liked it!
Fire Pro?
Oh lawd, let there be a retrospective on the AKI N64 wrestling games soon! Virtual Pro, World Tour, revenge, WrestleMania 2000, NO MERCY, VIRTUAL PRO 2... ❤️
Thanks patman!
It's on my to do list but to be honest it's already been covered a number of times so I wanted to give fire Pro, and all the various games and spinoffs a little bit of love instead
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I'm just psyched for AEW fight forever bro :)
So fn awesome! Thanks for taking the time to do this!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
Hold on..... Is that TOP HAT GAMING MAN doing commentary.... Sweet. That's a great collaboration
It was very cool of him to do that
Happy little wrestling game🙃
LOL thank you
I have some of the Fire Pro Wrestling games, i just need Super Fire Pro Wrestling: Queen's Special.
That is a surprisingly excellent title
That RKO will always be awesome.
It sure was :-)
Fire Pro was the Smackdown/WWE 2K series for its time.
Omfgyes ty so much. Fpww is life.
It still a lot of fun to play
I have always wanted to try one of these and have never gotten around to it. The top hat gaming cameo was pretty cool. Since you're becoming pretty popular in the whole video game youtube arena you should reach out to danhausen to see if he'll do a spot. Seems like he loves the Simpsons as much as you do. Another awesome video as always btw
Thanks for the nice words. I reached out to him but didn't get a response. Glad you enjoyed the content :-)
Great presentation thank you
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks
I love fire pro wrestling as a franchise my first experience with fpw is fpw returns for the ps2 what a franchise
Yes, in the last one was absolutely phenomenal
Hey PatMan, whereabouts in the series would you say the "locking horns" timing grapple animation changed from both wrestlers bending their knees to instead both wrestlers stomping the floor as the signal to input?
Elbows Pads|Knee Pads|Taped Wrists|MMA Style Gloves Past Present Future
I can't wait for part 2 👍👍
Coming soon…… Brother :-)
Makes me want to play this game now
I had fun going back and playing through the previous versions
WHATCHA GONNA DO…WHEN PATMAN QC BOWLS STRIKES ON YOU!!!!
LOL, comment of the day
You did it, Pat!!!! You did it!!! You pushed the button!!! You beautiful bastard!!!!!!
Hope you enjoy it, thank you
17:29 I believe the wrestler used in the commercial is Masakatsu Funaki
Thanks for the info
"Poindexter"
.... brilliant!!
LOL, thanks
Next level editing. Well done!
Much appreciated! Thank you
I am a huge fan of Super Fire Pro Premium X, Fire Pro Returns (which I have on PS2), and I own Fire Pro World on PS4.
Fantastic, glad you enjoyed it
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I am looking forward to part 2 👍
Fire pro wrestling is new to me. 😀👍🎮
It's a lot of fun once you get the controls down
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries ok.😀👍🎮
Fire Pro wrestling is a good series and it's a shame that we didn't get any of the games outside Japan till a decade later on GBA then PS2 and Now PS4. There's that XBLA abomination, be the less we speak of it the better, lol!
Imagine if say, Acclaim got distribution rights and reskinned it as a WWF game. But the gameplay would have been less accessible for most players they would have marketed it to I think.
Anyway, looking forward to part two!
Guess I don't have to wait to long, hehe.
I agree, but yes I have to speak of the XBLA Version even though I don't want to :-)
I've never been able to understand how to play the game. The controls are so difficult for me.
It's all in the timing and definitely not a button masher. There are plenty of tutorials on TH-cam showing you how to do it but it just takes practice
Oooooo YEAAA
The submission farts crack me up
LOL
Ric just did the biggest show in North Korea
The game at 20:25 ... holy crap, those flickering shadows. Was that in the actual game, or is it some weirdness from converting it to a video format or something?
No that's the way it is in Mame
Hell Yeah Man. Loved it
Thank you!
this is awesome just cant wait for Part two ♥
Thank you
Human Entertainment: Games for People.
Absolutely
I never understood the whole “timing” aspect of it. There was never any audio or visual cue of when to push anything so I just couldn’t get into it.
It's when they first lock up in their knees bend
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries but then you push what? Is it whoever pushes something first at the knee bend?
@@jotakux7489 Yes, you have to start with week grapples first and then move up to the more stronger grapples after your opponent is weakened
I watched it twice. So good
LOL, that's fantastic. I sure do appreciate it thanks
As a major contributor to FPWW, I love it!!!!! And I love this video! Can’t wait for part two.
Thank you so much!
@Wallywood187, did you actually help to develop the game personally?
@@paxhumana2015 no, but I have the record for most parts craft items created on PS4/PS5 and PC. If you’ve downloaded custom edits that use custom parts. There’s like a 95% chance you’ve got some of my parts and or 5% chance you’ve downloaded stolen parts others have tried to claim of mine as their own. :)
I might have spent some time playing this series
Wish I could get all of DJKMs returns edits on to the latest PS4 game
