This game is my choice for "Game I would consistently beg for a re-release of some kind" if i ever really did that kind of thing. It really left a impact on me as a teenager during my final year of high school. I will always look back on it fondly and I really give finally another play though it's been ten years.
Hindu mythology has so many stories and concepts, it's unreal. Only two games I've seen using Hindu tenets as basis are SMT Digital Devil Saga (Chakra system to enlightenment) and Morrowind (Reincarnation, pilgrimage as practice etc). There's stuff like Skyblazer that turned Ramayana into anime fan fic (and English localizers Americanized the names). Uncharted Lost Legacy starts really well with the Ganesh's lost tusk myth but I don't know it goes anywhere with it. Final Fantasy XII's Bhujerba feels like someone's idea of ancient India based on what they've seen on TV and ads, but a really well made one. I've heard good things about the Indian inspired city in FF14's newest expansion. Far Cry 4's Shangri-la section is the closest we've seen a Hindu mythology motifed AAA game, but that's just 90 mins total in a 40 hours game. TL;DR - Hindu setting and concepts are woefully underutilized in games.
I remember seeing this in 2011 and wanting it so bad. But while I never got it its nice to know that it was a favorite amongst many after all these years.
Asura's Wrath MMMMMMMMM if it didnt have that DLC issue it would be PERFECT. Shutting Them UP just is so satisfying and I cant disagree with Killing Devas they suck in all aspects whenever they appear.
For additional context, iirc, the final ending wasn't originally meant to be a DLC but a full on sequel game. But people at the top weren't sure the game would sell well enough to justify a sequel being green lit, so they condensed it into a DLC instead.
Yeah I agree Kyomu senkei was likely a big influence on Asura's Wrath because Ishikawa is the Boss Also just to shamelessly plug a video from one of my favorite Animetubers here's a video by Mrcheese that elaborates in the series and Ishikawa's career a bit more: th-cam.com/video/B8OKlITEXRQ/w-d-xo.html
One of the few games that do QTEs right, or rather, makes them super satisfying.

The dlc might have been a horrible decision but it was the best 8$ I've ever spent in my life
