Woodz is not new, he’s been around for quite some time but probably not as lucky as other idols although his songs and productions have always been so good and unique. I’m glad he’s finally starting to get the recognition he deserved. He’s very unique and well-known for being an “all-rounder”. What we, the fans love about him is that he’s not fixed to 1 genre, we are always excited when he comes out with a new album, since we could never guess what he’ll do. He mentioned before that his music taste may not be the usual korean mainstream choice. His music so unique, we’re unable to determine the genre, so we call it “WOODZPOP”. Much love❤
Hahaha I lost my comment-in-progress. Probably better off since I realized my MOODZ was showing, lol. Stopping by though to thank @heylo86 for the comment, and agree that he is truly UNIQ and has been since the beginning! 😊 BTW, anyone who is thinking he is new, know that his original popular music group was a Korean/Chinese member group and made their debut in 2014. That’s going on 10 years and was right there with BTS. (I mention them because I have seen a LOT of @AnthonyRayKPOP BTS reactions and followed his journey for a good while! WOODZ began in the same era.) WOODZ, Cho Seung-Youn, Luizy you can look them all up and see some the breadth of his work, not to mention all the writing, producing, collabs, soundtrack music, video concepts, oh and did you ever see him dance??? Lol. He has earned the ALL-ROUNDER crown, and isn’t giving it up anytime soon. (While he deserves much more attention, there’s no commercial sell-out here, just the sheer joy of doing what he loves. It’s evident.)
WOODZ has been producing music in different genres that’s why we call his music WOODZPOP because he’s beyond kpop. Also, he’s not new since he’s been in the industry for almost a decade and I truly hope he’ll soon get the recognition he deserves. He truly is an amazing and well-rounded artist.
6:26 The whole album "Only Lovers Left" was written by him but he worked with the American producer-songwriter Tiyon on all the tracks and he always has a native english speaker who double checks his lyrics so...
He doesn't focus his music on the American market, although he has some songs in English Woodz always focuses on his own country and always does what is in his head without really caring about the numbers
Tiyon only worked on 3 English tracks. Not the whole album

How sure are you that the syntax is off since you can’t even understand the Korean lyrics? English is my native language and Waiting lyrics are perfect.
Maybe k-pop does not mean a music should be just pop, k-pop is more like a industry not a music genre.
K-POP = popular Korean music. That’s it. Just like “boy band” is not *NSYNC. Girl groups and boy bands and idols are how Korea explains the popular music industry.

Since he writes all his own songs, he creates his own genre...us fans call his genre WOODZPOP. There's no genre he can't pull. And yes I agree as an English speaker hearing improper grammar throws us off but it's fairly common in the 20+ years I've listened to Korean music, unless the lyricist is a native English speaker. I've just gotten used to it by now.

'i dont want to wait you no more' is more of an idea/concept/feeling rather than having correct syntax. 99% you don't need to have 'proper' syntax if it makes sense in context with the song's ideals

Ready to fight and Drowning are both from his recent album OO-Li! I would personally consider it a rock album.
