Yup! I grew up 10 mins away from Wrigley! I used to ride my bike onto Waveland avenue to catch home run balls. Unfortunately you run the risk of dumb kids stealing bikes left unattended even for 20 seconds of running to get balls! So yea none for me or back then, there were no cell phones and my dumb 10 year old isn’t stopping at the bars to call mommy. I’d have to WALK HOME! Hahaha F that dude. Anyway…my point, I live in the SF Bay Area now. Last 15 some years. I love the Giants but never against the Cubbies. I love Oracle Park. I tell my buddies all the time, outside of Wrigley, seriously Oracle is a damn awesome ballpark. Everyone loves Oracle Park in general fans of the MLB!
I've been a Pirates fan my whole life. It is so nice to see the old names i remember as a kid. Back when Pittsburgh had a good team. I would always watch the game on the Pirates network, but when they played the Cubs, I would always switch to WGN in the 7th just to listen to Harry sing and then back to the Bucco's announcers.
6:53 "Jimmy Leyland, who's trying to curb the smoking habit, has been kicked outta the ballgame. Well I tell ya, he's a great little guy. " Classic Harry!
R I P Harry Carey for all of us that had the true pleasure of hearing you call cubs games on WGN for all of them years just reminds us how much you are missed, just to hear him sing take me out to the ball game for the 7th inning stretch again brings back a lot of good memories of watching cubs games for so many years.
I am a Pirates fan I miss Jim Leyland and remember when he would be up on the steps of the dugout with cigarette in mouth or hand. I also loved listening to Harry as well. Baseball will never be what it used to be with greats Jim Leyland Bobby Cox Lou Piniella Earl Weaver Billy Martin.
Thank you!!!! So hard to find Harry. Maybe one day MLB will have these games archived on their site. I had at least half a dozen VHS tapes of games but alas they were no good and I had to pitch them out.
Awesome title to the video...when I was a kid watching I didn't really realize that Harry was drunk. In this game: "Lou, Lonnie Smith is known for hitting the long ball..." Lonnie Smith hit all of 98 career homers
1-2 count, 2 run lead, pitch gets away from him and Leyland thinks its on purpose. Classic overreaction. Should be happy to have a baserunner there with the tie run at the plate.
You gotta watch the earlier innings and know the rules for hitting a batter. Pirates already had a pitcher kicked out for throwing inside. That means if the other team tries to retaliate, or hits a batter, that pitcher gets booted too.
If no warning is issued, then there will not be any automatic ejections. What got Minor tossed is he was throwing at Grace trying to hit him. That is why. One up and in and the other was behind him that shows intent. plus both were fast balls. So Leyland had no beef what so ever.
Listening to Harry sing in the 7th inning still makes me feel like a kid at a ballgame……..and I’m a Giants fan

The possibility of Jim Leyland losing his shit on an entire crew was always my favorite part of watching the Tigers.
I'm a Cardinal fan and we loved Harry too. One of the greats. RIP
Man, Harry really made it a party at Wrigley, didn't he. No wonder I loved watching Cubs games as a kid.
"A picture is worth a thousand words and Leyland is using those thousand." That was Harry Caray for ya!
So many great quotes. "Let's see Arne, you're going to the track tonight." "Jimmy Leyland, he's a great little guy." Lol
Brings back great memories!
One of many games I had to miss that year since I spent my summer at boot camp in San Diego.
I was there. Last game I've attended. Soo long ago.
Thank you!!!! So hard to find Harry. Maybe one day MLB will have these games archived on their site. I had at least half a dozen VHS tapes of games but alas they were no good and I had to pitch them out.
Lol, I miss Harry’s drunken rambling.
I liked watching the tv with the volume down when Harry was on the radio side. He'd call a low outside ball when it was a high inside ball. 😂
Me 2
Omg great to hear Harry's voice again
Awesome to hear Harry ! 😆
I miss Harry RIP
Former Mariners skipper Lloyd McClendon going yard for the Pirates at 2:11!
@dasfette and Pirates coach!
He crushed that
Leyland really got his money's worth.
Harry did Cardinal baseball. St. Louis Hawks Basketball. Missouri football. All with high knowledge.
Gotta love Harry!
Leyland looked old even in 1993.
Smoking will do it
I can't help but wonder how many of those old folks were still alive in 2016.
Congrats to Jim Leyland, headed to Cooperstown 👏
Harry Caray is a Cubs and baseball legend. No question about it. However, I cannot listen to him and not think of Will Ferrell on SNL.

Lonnie Smith hit all of 98 career homers
Loved those Budweisers! "Cubs win, Cubs win" (slurred)
Post stroke ‘87 his speech was slightly slurred for the remainder of his life.
Way to go, little bubby!! By that you should remember WHO We Are! Love you bubby and God bless your family!
He's a great little guy!😂🤣
Leyland must have been trying to quit smoking cold turkey that day
@Frank and chain smoking in the dugout.....back when you could still do that.
Lonnie Smith
Thanks for that baserunning fubar Lonnie
4:18 Leyland had a legit gripe here. Loved watching him go nuclear!
9:55 What a ballgame! A one, a two, a three……
He's a great little man! Lol!
This is Craziest and Nuts
Old Man Leyland must have smoked 3 packs of Cancer Sticks in this game.
HOOOOOOLLY COW Ô¿Ô
Dave Bautista going up and in.
Love how carey borked the name of Smith
Good ol' Lou Smith.
Theres no way he would put tying run at the plate.it wasnt intentional.
#Classic
That was America in the summertime.
A skinny Sammy Sosa.
Leyland is 100% right. No Cubs hit 3 Pirates ejected. 2 Pirates hit No Cubs ejected. Bullshit
JOSE BAUTISTA? Bat flip Bautista lol
Not the same Bautista. Joey Bats never played for the Cubs. He started as a rookie 3rd baseman for the Pirates in 2004, 11 years after this game.
Harr'ah Carr'ah heee
Lonnie Smith has really long pants
He always did

Legit Leyland beef.

I've NEVER liked Leyland! In fact I hated him.
