Yeah Rodger Bumpass besides being best known for Squidward and Dr. Membrane (Invader Zim) has done a lot of minor background voices for a lot of the Disney and Pixar animated films during the 1990’s and early 2000’s such as _A Bug’s Life, Tarzan, Treasure Planet,_ etc.
He even was in the dub of one of the Bath House Spirit workers who refused to give Sen the Bath House Token in the English dub version of _Spirited Away_

Fun fact: A Bug’s Life is technically a retelling of another story. A very old story, in fact. Specifically, the movies Magnificent Seven, and of course, Seven Samurai. They both have the same story. A village of defenseless farmers are being terrorized by an army of bandits and brigands. And one of them sets out to find a group of warriors, usually seven, to help the villagers fight and defend themselves against their enemy.

The movie's premise is the fable of the ant and the grasshopper taken to extremes: there isn't just one lazy grasshopper here, but a whole gang of nasty thugs, led by a sociopath 😬
The movie's main theme is rebellion against oppression; it takes just one person to take the first step, and everyone else will stand up for themselves. Flick telling Hopper off was the push the rest needed to rebel; he was essentially voicing their thoughts.

From what I remember. A Bug's Life is based off a old story from Japan about a poor village being forced to pay tribute to Samurai for their protection from bandits. They resolve the issue buy hiring street performers to act as decoys for a final attack. It's kind of made a apparent with the ending of the film with its firework display. As fireworks were invented in Japan.

3:16 In real life, queen ants actually have wings once they become adults, as do male ants - they use it for a single flight where they go to find a mate, then the young queen ant loses her wings and finds a home to start a colony, and the male... I think dies shortly thereafter.
Also, worker ants are sterile females, contrary to popular belief.

also the Pizza Planet Truck and A113 are seen in most Pixar films. John Ratzenburger (voice of PT Flea and Hamm the piggy bank) has voiced in every Pixar film from Toy Story (1995) to Soul (2020). Some of his voice roles are harder to spot than others, the reason he has voiced in that many films is Ratzenburger was (and possibly still is) considered Pixar's good luck charm.

26:36 _Bye Bye Birdie_ reference FTW
For those who don't know, it's an old musical movie starring Dick van Dyke, thankfully *not* doing a crappy Cockney accent.

That scene with Hopper dropping all the food on the 3 grasshoppers? They’re dead. And it still terrifies me from this day.

React to Ants also. Released a month before A Bugs Life. Very similar but made from DreamWorks while A Bugs Life is from Disney and Pixar which is why it was more popular.

You guys should watch DreamWorks Ants after this. It’s basically the same movie but darker and more mature. There’s also a lot of Easter eggs in this particular movie. First of all we have Jerry’s game, which is the guy who fixed Woody. And then the tree is the plant from Walle. And then of Course, the famous pizza planet truck and trailer house that we see in monsters Inc.

To be honest, This movie reminds me “The Ant and the Grasshopper”, the old animated Disney version and children’s books version. I remember listening to those books during story time in elementary school library.

Grasshoppers nor locusts eat ants, that's why they needed to threaten the ants to gather for the food they actually eat.

It's funny you guys mentioned that there should be A Bug's Life game because there actually was one on PS1 and it was pretty decent, but I agree, a Modern PS4 Bug's Life game with huge levels, tons of missions and mini games and Modern Graphics would hit super hard, even a Toy Story 2 Buzz Light-year to the Rescue remake like that would be nice
If anyone has any cool ideas for how these types of games would look, please comment them in my replies here pls I'd love to hear them

I imagine you would play as Flik in a game based on A Bug's Life, in which case it seems natural that there would be a heavy emphasis on crafting gadgets for unlocking new areas, and fending off assorted threats.

If you watch the end credits of Toy Story 2 during the bloopers, there is a brief scene of the Bugs Life characters joking about having a sequel. Really, they're a cameo in Toy Story; you can also see them quickly during the movie when Buzz chops down the branches while on the way to Al's

I’m kinda surprised that A Bug’s Life is still a one-off movie. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good movie (and a childhood favorite of mine) on its own and probably would be better off as a single film. But sometimes, I wonder if a sequel would work for this one.

I find it unlikely since most of its voice actors have passed away since the film's release in 1998. (Including Joe Ranft as Heimlich)
