I cant believe they scratched klim against the panthers. One of the roughest teams in the league and put everything on Ben chariot to check and scrum when klim would have loved to do that.
The wings didn't lose to the panthers because of physicality or lack of. They lost because they tried playing panther hockey. It is why we struggle against ottowa. I like klim but he wouldn't of changed the outcome.
After what we saw against Florida we need more grit and physicality on the blueline. Gudas might be one option. Holl needs to be moved out. One signing that Stevie should not have made. Edvinsson should be brought up. It sounds like the Wings may keep him in GR for their playoff run.
If they move Holl I would expect Edvinsson to come up. He's more than ready for the big league. The Holl contract, yea not a great move. I honestly think he was top six and that was the plan until the Petry trade late in the offseason
Just walked away/turned off Aves/Wings game with about 10 min left in the second period. Aves putting on a skating clinic against the Wings. Where did the Aves get this Cale Makar (defenseman) from? I would give 5 Mo Seiders for this guy. Seider has got to be the most OVERRATED defenseman in this league. Seider was schooled through 1 and 1/2 periods of this game. I miss my Wings of old, from the 90s and early/mid 2000s. They knew how to play defense, they knew how to win. Why in the heck to Yzerman get Seider? Couldn't he have gotten a defenseman who could skate at least a little faster. I've got no confidence with this guy when there are players on the ice so much better than him. And he (we're still on the Seider rant) still makes monumental mistakes with not even 2 periods over. 2 delay of game penalties and a 3rd mistake with him getting perfectly schooled by the Aves around Lyon's right post. Unbelievable. Send this guy down to the minors and let's bring up Edvinnson and try him out. Sorry Wing fans, I am not convinced Seider is the answer for the Wings defensive strategy. Maybe on a 4th line, but nowhere near the top. I don't see the Wings going anywhere anytime in the near future with Seider as their lead defenseman. If the Wings can land a pick with somebody similar the Cale Makar, maybe Hanifin, then maybe they can build their team from that.
Listen, Mo had a brutal game. It happens and yea it looks bad. But he's young and is our best defenceman. But the rest of your rant literally makes no sense. Send him down? Really? He has zero support. He hasn't had a good partner his whole career. As for Makar, the kid is a generational defenceman, They don't grow on trees
How about Schmaltz and Dumba from AZ for 1st, Berggren, Holl, and a later pick? They've activated Berg (possible showcase?) and play AZ on deadline day. Schmaltz has 2 years left, Dumba adds grit out back. AZ loves rehabbing defensemen (Holl), wants to add youth (Berg) and could always use more picks.
Interesting, I like trying to solve two problems at once. Schmaltz is underrated, always liked him. As for Dumba, I'm not a huge fan but he's better than Petry (which isn't a hard thing to do lol). I think you may be overpaying a bit with Berggren and a first, but i guess offloading Holl's contract would probably indicate a higher pricetag. I like the thought!
@@HealthyScratchRedWingsReport Salary retained, of course, on Schmaltz' last 2 years, and taking on Holl's contract is what brings the cost up to a 1st and Berggren. I feel that's a fairly even trade
Sprong's points per 60 min is amazing but unfortunately he spend a lot of time standing around staring at the oposing teams offense. i would like to see him go somewhere else as a result. we need some solid defense.
We can have both scoring and defence. Sprong isn't a defensive player, I'll give you that. But he is effective in other areas and I would personally like to see him return next season. I doubt he moves at the deadline.
I see what you're saying about Edvinsson being "overripe," but at the same time, the Griffins are having an outstanding second half of their season and could very well make a run for the Calder Cup. I am not convinced it is in the Wings' long-term interest to trade someone off the blue line to make room for Edvinsson this year if you're taking away a key piece from an AHL team with a chance at some hardware. Moreover, will a super inexperienced defenseman who joins the team really late in the year really be in the short-term interest? Stevie should let him cook down in GR for the rest of the year, but he better make damn sure he has a spot next year.
I think if a player is ready for the jump then he should be up with the big club. I'd rather have success at the NHL level over the AHL, but I understand the Griffins are on a roll!
Wasn't Chychrun the guy that Holland shoulda grabbed in the 1st place way back when..? If they're thinking of letting Ghost walk next season, that'd probably be my pick. But does that mean giving up a 1st rounder..?
You're right! They traded Datsyuk's contract to the Coyotes and they swapped first round picks. Coyotes picked Chychrun, and Holland picked...Cholowski :/ Ghost is UFA this season so he could leave if he wanted. I think they hold onto him because the powerplay is a big strength of this team. Ottawa has a weird way of trading (see Tarasenko return) so maybe you could get Chychrun for less? We will see!
Ideally shipping him out to get a roster spot would be great, but i think we will have to retain salary or add a pick to him (or both) in order to trade him
i think we should go after Crosby. he is clearly not happy and is having a great personal season while being on a terrible team. i dont know if that is an option but lots of amazing players came to detroit at the end of thier careers and left with one or more cups.
wrong, he is the guy you hate, or at least i hate, no matter what team he was on. i pray he doesnt end up on the wings. he doesnt deserve to were the greatest Jersey in Hockey@@HealthyScratchRedWingsReport
Unless the Wings actually grow wings and fly on the ice, it will be no surprise that the Wings lose quickly in the first round, assuming they make it that far. After watching 1 and 1/2 periods with the Wings against the Aves, the Aves put on a skating clinic on a much less talented Wings team. Even Patrick Kane looked insignificant through less than 2 periods. This podcaster and many other Wing fans are in denial about not trying to dump some of these guys on the Wings roster. I'm in agreement with trying to get Noah Hanifin but he could be pretty expensive, though I'm sure he could skate 10x faster and make better decisions on the ice than Seider. I just saw 30 minutes of Seider getting schooled on the ice by this Aves team. Cale Makar is so, so, so much better than Seider. What did Stevie Y see in this Seider? 3 mistakes through 1 and 1/2 periods (30 minutes of hockey)----- 2 delay of game penalties resulting in Aves scoring on a power play to tie it up. And the 3rd mistake caught Seider literally behind Lyon's right post (which absolutely made no sense) resulting in the Aves 3rd goal. Again, what do some Wing fans see in this Mo Seider? Since he's German, I'm starting to wonder if has the smarts of a Sgt Shultz from the old sitcom series, Hogan's Heroes. I'm totally disappointed with the way things are playing out with the Wings. I don't think they have it in them to make it to the playoffs without Lyon, and if they do, I can't see them getting past the 1st, maybe 2nd, round.

@jacobt8173 you cant ignore a physical team and expect to have a good outcome.
So? Still would have loved to see Klim Shady bully everyone on their team.@@jacobt8173
I was at that game. Can confirm it wasn't a lack of toughness that lost them that game, it was lack of execution. Florida is super talented.
100% agree; love the way the scoring is across the team
You should have way more subs. Love the chill content.
Thanks I appreciate it!

We have to make playoffs first. It’s getting tight. That loss against the islanders was really bad.
If they move Holl I would expect Edvinsson to come up. He's more than ready for the big league. The Holl contract, yea not a great move. I honestly think he was top six and that was the plan until the Petry trade late in the offseason
