Released back in 2005 and developed by Neversoft (of Tony Hawks fame) this was the first open-world Western game. The PC port is locked at 30fps and does stutter at times due to the in-game loading when on horseback...but otherwise is a fun, brutal shooter! Gunplay was really satisfying and characters have great personalities and depth. You can see a lot of it's influence on Red Dead Redemption as this really set the ground work for future Western games. A charming nostalgia trip indeed!
Yeah I think that's the reason why most people overlook this game is because they only played through the main storyline. This game can feel alot longer when you do the side missions (you technically have to do them anyway since you'll need weapon upgrades)

This was "the western game" back then. This game and its story had a greater initial inpact on me than RDR and its sequel. The first playthrough was just so unforgettable.
Ron Perlman was known for playing Clay Morrow in Son's of Anarchy. Lance Henrikson who voiced Thomas Magruder was known for playing General Shepherd, Kerchak, and Admiral Hackett.
The American Frontier has a lot of nicknames, with the most common and most prominent being the “Wild West”, but “Lawless West” doesn’t really cross my mind when I think about this time period.
The graphics and visuals in the game are top-notch, and you really bring out the best in it. The commentary and your reactions add a whole new level of excitement to the video. It's like I'm right there with you, experiencing the game firsthand. I appreciate the effort you put into editing the video as well. The transitions and effects are seamless, making the viewing experience even more enjoyable. The sound quality is crystal clear, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the game.
This game was amazing! played the whole thing back in 2005 when i was 10 or 11 and thoroughly enjoyed the whole game. The experience i had playing it was unreal! I always wanted them to come out with a gun 2 but they never did.
I posted this on another video of Gun but I want to say it here too because many people seem to be wildly confused for some odd reason. Everyone's saying how this was Red Dead before Red Dead.... well, not really. Red Dead Revolver came out a year earlier and Cole and Red are even kinda similar. Both half native guys and their appearances and revenge stories are very similar. The aesthetic and mechanics are also somewhat close to Red Dead Revolver. But they did do some interesting new stuff like the scalping and gold mining. And it's super cool that Kris Kristofferson played Ned. Gun's developers most likely saw the success of Revolver at the time and wanted to do a similar game. I am in no way saying that Gun isn't amazing because it is, and I highly recommend both to anyone that hasn't played. It has many firsts and it was open world first. But it did not release first and Revolver clearly influenced Gun heavily. That's my only point. Great video and great game. 🧨💥👏
Thanks for sharing this walk through with all us Cowpoke wannabes. 2👍 5⭐ I believe the PC controls in this game are far better and less confusing than those RDR games.
Better than RDR in that the goals were simple, the gameplay, cast and storyline were all amazing and I appreciated the larger role of Native Americans also.

Crazy that never soft made it!
Speaking of tony hawk how bout playing tony hawk's underground huh?
I miss this game very much 😐
My second cousin Charles Clayton told me he played this game when he was my age.
I loved this game
Game does a fantastic job at making 3-4 hours feel like 7-8 hours. Pacing is insane!
It was longer, this is just a condensed main story playthrough with everything else left out. There's a lot more content to the game.
I mean there's lot more depth to the world than just the main story from what I remember.

Amazing story and voice cast. Another one that should be remastered.
This brings back so many memories... I wish this game would get a sequel or a remake/remaster.
Superb game, the sandbox isn't very big but this is still a high quality wild west action game.
It definitely packed a lot of varied landmarks into a small map.
There is no sandbox, this isn't a sandbox game. Learn what the term actually means.

Completed in under 3 hours, man I played this alot when I was little, must've had I don't know, 30 hours before I finally got to the end
Well this was edited together. I did a lot of free roaming and side missions between main missions.

Man this is such a good game brings back so many good memories thank you Willzyyy
The nostalgia is off the charts. What a game, I used to prefer this to red dead revolver ☺👍
I love the soundtrack of this game
It reminds me a lot of memories...
Same here. And the character development, atmosphere and story telling makes this a timeless classic ☺👍
Dat scream 46:58 some mighty fine aim, Sir. Great walkthrough as always! This game looks good for its time.
Thanks mate! Yep it really was for it's time, but got forgotten very quickly unfortunately.

💗💗. I really want to see a full gameplay of Resident Evil 4 by you. I know you don't play that type of games but I hope you play for once.
It's a shame this game never got a sequel. But you know Activision, gotta have a CoD every year instead.
It wouldve been good to see a sequel
11 year old me was so furious when Jenny was killed. I had a huge crush on her, still do I guess.

The game had a great cast. Was a big hit back in 2005 and was THE western game before RDR came and took over.

This game walked so RDR could run then later falter with the second game... (Decent graphics does not make a good game)
Nearest predecessor to RDR and RDR2, red dead revolver was good, but wasn't an open world
Thomas Jane Voice acting was really good in this game!
Nostalgia. A really well made game for it's time.
More than anything, it had an insane story.
So much replayability. I was like 8 or 9 when I set my hands on this one, getting that cannon rifle was so fun
This is probably what inspired red red series of games .
The real red dead redemption
The beginning of red dead redemption series!👍
The fact that some of the developers that worked on this game also worked in Hollywood
That one game you might never forget.
the blood and gore was really great and still is. bit shame that the game was locked at 30fps tho :(
the fact you can scalp someone in this game is wild lmao
This was without a doubt one of the best games ever made. Because before there was Red Dead Revolver.... There was GUN
There was Red Dead Revolver
@@isaacgarcia6070I Corrected it lol
Red Dead Revolver came out a year before gun.
GUN wipes the floor with Red Dead Revolver in most aspects.
