    I just open Anki in safari on my phone and I can make flash cards which the iOS $25 app doesn’t even have. Im pretty sure opening Anki web in safari is actually better than the app.

      @@eileenkarkon7358 I don’t think you can do that on Anki web. You could make the card on Anki web, and then modify it with the application on your counter, but audio and visual files Anki web unfortunately can’t do.

    I'm a non-traditional (read "mature") student and learning the intricacies of Anki (at my age) was difficult. [And there are some things I expect I will only learn as I continue to use the software].
    For notes, I switch between OneNote and Notion, the former looks like most MS Office products, and Notion does have a learning curve but it's not as steep as Anki.
    Still, at this age, I appreciate an open-source project, that many people continually contribute to enhancing features. So for the social elements, I will stay with Anki.
    The biggest Con for Anki is how the software has been captured by medical students. It is touted subtly as a medical school tool. I'm an accountant and I need to remember the IFRS standards and those are just as voluminous.

    I started medical school at the start of February, and I’ve been using remnote every day.
    Personally I really think you can feel that this isn’t a program created by a big company (the glitches), but it works really well for my workflow.
    I have showed it to some of my friends at school, and they do now use it - but overall anki is being used a LOT more, just more well know.
    But a good comparison video! I would totally recommend people trying out remnote (especially if you haven’t tried anki yet) - it’s annoying you have to pay, but yeah.. a decently good “all in one”

      Great comment!! I think you nailed it! It's funny after making this video I went to start making cards for my next major exam and because of the organization alone of Remnote, I navigated to it first before Anki. It can just be annoying to organize decks in Anki and the ability to search any lecture in Remnote and study its cards is awesome. Best of luck in med school!!

      Its looks outside as a shiny app, but lots of bugs and hence moved to dedicated paid app CRAFT which is very fast to work in the apple ecosystem.

    Hi. I'm a medical student and I'd used anki before but I had some problems like you said in the video, I was confused and didn't know how to use it. However, I've come to anki again and I found some addons that I think It should be great for everyone: "Pop-up dictionary (beta)" and "Searching, PDF Reading & Note-Taking in Add Dialog". Now I can import pdf files (notes or lecture slides) to anki and able to make flashcards from my notes in only anki app. However, I do need another app for taking note and some addons can not support the newer versions of anki.
    Thank you for the video, I will try remnote. I really like the organization of remnote, so aesthetic, very easy to use and don't need the second app for taking notes, I like using only one app for studying.

    I've moved from Remnote to Anki (even remnote is really good) But Remnote syncing is kinda slow. When I created flashcards on my computer and I wanted to use on my phone, it hasn't sync the flashcards thta I just added on my computer yet.

    • @stephenraydentist
      @stephenraydentist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I experienced this as well! I'm not sure why that is because other similar programs like Notion update immediately on all devices. Anki makes this process simple by having you hit the Sync button which uploads all new changes to Anki web which will then allow syncing to other devices.Thanks for the comment!!

    Been using Anki for a year now and I am passing my exams well but the lack of structure that comes with using Anki, I am looking for solutions to that. I thought using a mind-map tool so that I know how all the Anki cards are organised. And now looking at using both Remnote and Anki at the same time. Let's see how it goes.

    @Jason-dt3rv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +64

    I think Remnote is very creative and it solves the problem of lack of structure and connection between Anki's cards. And the outline structure allows your knowledge to grow like a tree, and the cards are no longer a single entity.
    However, Remnote still seems weak in managing flashcards, and I still have doubts and concerns about the stability and reliability of the software.
    In the end I chose to stay with Anki.🤯

      Great comment! I think you hit the nail on the head! I love how easy it is to organize cards in Remnote but they do have a ways to go in reliability! That being said, even over the last few months the program has become much more reliable for me!

    Today these synchronization problems no longer exist. The application works in real time on more than one device. I preferred Remnote because it was easier to study legislation (the tree view is necessary, something that was impaired with Anki).

    • @wizardingwolf6218
      @wizardingwolf6218 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The comparison means that in general, the tool being used to study, whether Anki or RemNote, doesn't matter as much as the person studying. Both of the apps can be adapted and used to study, it just matters on the person using them and their personal preference

    I have been using remnote for 4 years now, using the free version of it, so far it is a good note taking app that let's you structure your flashcards. The keyword there is structure. Compared to anki, I had a problem with structure. I don't know or how to find specific flashcards so I could review them with remnote it solves this easily. Remnote can be use are your second brain. To keep all of your notes and turn them into flashcards. This saves time and energy re-typing for the flash cards sake. However, since remnote is a relatively new software, it has some bugs they need to fix and the community of users using remnote isn't large enough. Anki, on the other hand, has a larger community of users in which other users can use add-on to help with their learning process.

    • @CalebM_
      @CalebM_ 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      TLDR: Use remnote if you want structure and ease of use. Use Anki, if you need add-ons, or community made flashcards ready to be used. To me use remnote if you want to take notes and create flashcards whilst reading a textbook and use Anki to study, understand, and memorize powerpoint slides of your professors.

    • @stephenraydentist
      @stephenraydentist  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment! You can group topics by decks into anki but it won’t feed you all the cards within those decks in a random order it will feed you them deck by deck which I never preferred!

    • @Higor_hgr
      @Higor_hgr 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@stephenraydentist This is my current dilemma. Remnote is great for creating flashcards about legislation, both because of its simplified commands and its tree structure. But the web version is very dependent on the internet and the desktop application is super heavy. Besides, I always think: OMG, where does my data go?
      In Anki you can categorize information by tags; this way you can study all the cards randomly, but you can also review filtered tags from specific points.

      The Apple store levies its charge on the apps it sells, to cover the IP on building on its proprietary software. Google Play doesn't because of the open-source nature of it's platform. That's why the Android version is free.
