I love how the 599 looks, elegant and understated, prefer it to the f12. They don't suit red very well though, definitely need to be black grey or silver.

I've been watching quite a lot of JayEmm's videos and I can unequivocally & confidently say that that was the best shirt he's ever worn on this channel.
Interesting, I really like the way the 599 looks! I prefer it to the 550 and F12 by a long way. Would be the one I would choose. The only reason I would get a 550 is the manual gearbox!

Cheers James. Great video and interesting to hear your observations and opinions from the three V12 Ferraris, after driving them back-to-back. Looking forward to the F12 video!
I think most people don't understand the line and history of the Ferrari brand, unfortunately they got famous for just the show-off aspect of redness and loud noise. The Hyper V12s and Super V8s are supposed to sound loud and visceral, but the front engined V12 two seaters are GT Cars, they are supposed to look good, ride comfortably and to have a load of power to serve you with a silent, relaxing and luxurious Continent Cruise. The 4 seaters are supposed to be even more subtle. And of course, if you ram the throttle of any Ferrari you will get a decent sound, but some are supposed to be louder, some are supposed to be quieter.
Really enjoying you digging into the front mid / front engined traditional GT Ferrari Berlinettas .....seems like you should include the 599 GTO (apparently much more than a modified striped out version) and a 612 Scaglietti to complete the series - would be very cool. IMO the tdf shouldn't be included as it was just too much and a car that seems genuinely frightening to drive....I also think the price was over the top.....but who am I to judge. You probably already know but Chris Harris did a nice video on his own 599 GTB back in the days when only proper car people knew who he was ......lastly I can see you are still getting a kick out of saying ' my 550 ' ! I would too - its been quite the week. th-cam.com/video/pQdpNoPCd9o/w-d-xo.html
I am lucky enough to own one, and I think that the ex Dubai car you tried sells the car short. I have owned previous Ferraris, an AM Vantage, and many Lotuses. The 599 in red is one of the worst colours, take a look at a black one, or Tour de France Blue. The noise is incredible (outside) , the cockpit is very well insulated so you hear much less inside (so just open the window an inch!),the Enzo engine magnificent, the car is very comfortable, and fast, and (fingers crossed for me) very reliable, despite being loaded with electronics. The dampers react magnificently, and the throttle response out of this world. I agree that there is more than enough power , and after having tried the F12 and Superfast, the 599 is far less scary and risky. This is the same engine as the Enzo, and response time is immediate. It turns more heads than any other car I have had, the Tubistyle exhaust may have something to do with that, but the profile is magnificent, and the front view very imposing and I actually like the rear as the haunches and long bonnet scream power and presence. My 2008 car boot/trunk is very different to yours (run flat tyres,) and does not have the battery intrusion yours has here. It is an absolute bargain at the moment imho.
Thanks for this nice and detailed review, there are not many review videos like this on youtube. I have owned this car for almost 3 years and every time I drive it, the car feels very special. In terms of reliability, I haven't encountered any problems other than a few minor age-related issues, the v12 engine is quite robust and long-lasting when used regularly. Maybe there are better Ferraris in terms of driving abilities (458 Italia, 430 scud) but having the classic front v12 engine Ferrari silhouette feels very different.
Magnificent,I agree with you Jay,it's beautiful but the back end is Italian quirky,it seems these are the two Italian styles,it's just that they've combined both of those styles on this model, but the noise, what a glorious automobile.
I think the rear end of this car is the best part because it is so high. I feel like it's cooler and more subtle. You're not gonna have as many people taking pictures with your car 24/7 as you would with a 430 or an f12.
599 GTO is one of the all time great ferraris and my favourite front engine prancing horse, it goes a little under the radar nowadays and that's just another reason to love it
My prediction - I think you will get one after a year or 2 with the 550, especially if you can make money on the deal AND pocket a 620HP Rocket ship with, lets not forget, the friggin ENZO engine!! Your face when you ran it to redline (in 3rd?) - says it all - we all know that was '#a_lot_of_MPH'. That one experience will live long in your memory, just gnawing away, There is no getting away from the fact that it's a detuned ENZO !! LOL, great video, thanks! BTW the 599 sounds fantastic, I think louder in sport mode maybe, and your lovely 550 has definitely got some exhaust issue, it doesn't sound like it should, or all the others I have heard for some reason?
Overall i really like the 599, but i preferred the 612, which was on sale around the same time and couldn't really understand why everybody at the time was falling head over heals for this car, though hardly anybody was talking about the 612 and indeed you made no mention of it... As great as this selection of Ferraris is, the cars i really want to see you drive are the 612, F40, Enzo and the GTO 😃 .
I recently watched a Discovery programme about the Ferrari factory which was shot when the 599 was new, and featured the complete building of the car; when you watch the amount of work involved in building it, you realise that £80,000 for a car of such quality and performance is an absolute steal. I've always believed in Mr.Ferrari's maxim that Ferrari's should have their engines in the front and have 12 cylinders, and if I had anything like enough money I would love a 599, but I accept its rear end is not the best, but then again, I don't think it's that great on the 550/575 Maranello.
Have a different colour, more subdued interior and it'll be a little more stealth than your average Ferrari and better for it. Tour De France blue is particularly nice, probably anthracite wheels. Dark blue/metallic grey interior, perhaps a dash of cream but nothing mad. Bright colours inside a GT car intended to waft you across a continent in comfort and at high speed is too eye searing for that length of time.
I've always loved the GTB. Practical with masses of power! There again I am 55 so maybe I'm calming down from V8, supercars even though this is as fast as them, they're a younger guys car!😊
Just for info the 599 service content has been relaxed by the factory - such is their reliability - when used regularly The factory homologated a much better Michelin tyre homologated for the type - these are available from Ferrari dealerships The challenge wheel option also improves handling so look for a car with them on. Some markets offered steel brakes as standard - avoid they are not up to the job. Also avoid a manual 599 - clutch pack and flywheel are too small and optimised for the F1 system - the manual car is virtually undriveable when pressing on as the gear ratios are spaced for the F1 box. My car has been totally reliable for 40,000 miles but is Used regularly - which is how Ferarri tests and develops its cars. Let it sit around going nowhere and you will have issues.
I actually like the rear end of the 599. The front lights on the other hand look weirdly narrow and vertical. In the same way as seeing videos recorded in portrait on phones is horrifying to watch, these lights have something about that going on. It's definitely a car that I wouldn't be proud to be seen in. My current car isn't particularly either, I usually buy cars because they're good, not because clueless people think they're good (coincidentally I've never owned a German car), but in a Ferrari I think it matters, it's got to be a car you're proud to get out of.
I bought a 599 last year so I am biased but I think the 599 is the best modern Ferrari. First value, Enzo engine, closet modern Ferrari that’s looks like a Daytona, no hideous sat nav dating the interior, clean steering wheel with no buttons, indicators and window wipers stocks in the correct place and the gearbox is eventful and exciting. You feel you are controlling the gearbox where a Dual clutch feels like a fast auto. It is however big but then the 812 was bigger than f12 and it drinks like an alcoholic Scotsman.
Stunning looking machine, and a real supercar in a way the prior GT's were perhaps not quite. Finally a GT where Ferrari turned the wick upto 11. Red not it's best colour.
It may not sound good inside, but it sure as Hell sounds good outside. I rather like the looks, though I take your point with the back looking a bit high and maybe the trademark four round lights would improve it, but it’s clean and simple as it is. That’s something increasing disappearing from modern car designs, which are all unnecessary lines and fake vents. Loving these insights into Ferraris 👍
Love the look of the 599, especially the rear end and the long bonet. To me it has a classic and minimalist design like the cars of the 60s. Probably my favourite 4 seater Ferrari.
599s are great. but agree, rear looks not so good. great value. really quick, gearbox not an issue. and yes quite a scary car. a decent one will be at least £100k and a lower mileage one with the GTE pack will be £12/130k. good road trip car too. and sounds great.
I love how the 599 looks, elegant and understated, prefer it to the f12. They don't suit red very well though, definitely need to be black grey or silver.
I saw one in red with a black roof and a black stripe down the middle (like the GTO), and it looked amazing, so much better than a solid red car.
@Joel Schembri theres a really nice yellow one with a black roof for sale atm aswell, looks sooo good.
Depends on the red. For me, most Ferraris look a lot better in darker shades of red like rosso fuoco or fiorano.

My current car isn't particularly either, I usually buy cars because they're good, not because clueless people think they're good (coincidentally I've never owned a German car), but in a Ferrari I think it matters, it's got to be a car you're proud to get out of.
I've always found this car really cool, the silhouette is stunning, just not in red
Agreed, Dark Red looks good though .
*Awesome REVIEW* 👍👍👍 Can you try the F12 next?
I bought a 599 last year so I am biased but I think the 599 is the best modern Ferrari. First value, Enzo engine, closet modern Ferrari that’s looks like a Daytona, no hideous sat nav dating the interior, clean steering wheel with no buttons, indicators and window wipers stocks in the correct place and the gearbox is eventful and exciting. You feel you are controlling the gearbox where a Dual clutch feels like a fast auto. It is however big but then the 812 was bigger than f12 and it drinks like an alcoholic Scotsman.
Going to bang my head against a wall, forgot about 599 what a car
Stunning looking machine, and a real supercar in a way the prior GT's were perhaps not quite. Finally a GT where Ferrari turned the wick upto 11. Red not it's best colour.
It may not sound good inside, but it sure as Hell sounds good outside. I rather like the looks, though I take your point with the back looking a bit high and maybe the trademark four round lights would improve it, but it’s clean and simple as it is. That’s something increasing disappearing from modern car designs, which are all unnecessary lines and fake vents. Loving these insights into Ferraris 👍
Your 550 is lush but I personally prefer the 599. It’s just a matter of taste, both v desirable.
Thanks Jay, I’m actually thinking of buying one ..... is it not too big on British roads?
Love the look of the 599, especially the rear end and the long bonet. To me it has a classic and minimalist design like the cars of the 60s. Probably my favourite 4 seater Ferrari.
It isn't a 4 seater. The 612 is the 4 seater of its era.
@@viniciusmagnoni6492 thanks! didn't know that.
He ha the look on your face when you opened it up properly... You looked mildly concerned 😂
599s are great. but agree, rear looks not so good. great value. really quick, gearbox not an issue. and yes quite a scary car. a decent one will be at least £100k and a lower mileage one with the GTE pack will be £12/130k. good road trip car too. and sounds great.
I’ve always liked this car for some reason. Still remember the first time I saw one on the street
2010 model had a lot of upgrades, exhaust, suspension just to mention 2. It’s definitely worth the extra money.
Not 2010 model but hgte package. And no, it’s not worth the money imo if You think about driving ability on the road not on track.
I never really liked it, based on looks!
But I will give it a chance, to prove how good, it is after hearing your review...!!!
Can you get access to a 2016-2020 Shelby GT350 or GT350R in England? Awesome Ferrari videos as always.
A new mid engined v12 from Ferrari would be nice.
I just kept looking out for the Aston throughout this!
thats why the FF is better value for money.
All of your intros should be this good!
Your face at 6:45 is the same one I made when a friend of mine took me out in his 599 and hit the throttle.
I just wanted more :D
Never knew this awesome car was underrated.
I think a nice shade of green would look sublime on a 599
Ferrari and Green can't coexist.
