    Hi! What can we substitute with IOT Power Relay? We’ve been having a hard time looking for it online, as it seems to be sold out almost everywhere. Thanks

      It looks like Digikey has them in stock: www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/adafruit-industries-llc/2935/6227071. SparkFun and Adafruit used to carry a similar product called the Powerswitch Tail that's been discontinued: www.adafruit.com/product/268, but you could also look around to see if you can find a used one.

      @@Science.Buddies Hi! I'm from overseas so the IOT Power Relay is still a bit expensive for us. Are there any other alternatives for it?

      Also, do you need both the Elechouse and the Grove Speech Recognizer for this project?

      @Science.Buddies  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi - unfortunately we're not currently aware of any other alternatives to the IoT relay, unless you can find a used Powerswitch Tail somewhere. And no, you only need one of the speech recognition modules for this project, we just show examples of a few different kinds. (Apologies for the delayed reply - until now, TH-cam only notified us of new comments, not additional replies to older comments)

      Hi - so far, all of our Arduino projects use the Arduino UNO, which is the most common and popular board for beginners. However, all Arduinos are definitely NOT the same. You can read about some of the different types here, but we recommend the UNO for getting started: www.arduino.cc/en/hardware#boards-1

      Several other people have reported this issue lately and if you Google the error message it appears to be an issue with recent boards discussed in support forum threads. We recommend contacting the manufacturer for a refund or replacement.

    Hi science buddies. I'm doing this project for my science fair, and is there any code to upload to the arduino for the lamp, like the led? Like is there an example code, or do I just not upload any code. I've connected the arduino and IOT relay, and set up the elechouse, but It wont turn on after I say on. Thank you!

    • @Science.Buddies
      @Science.Buddies  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi - please refer to the written instructions on our website: www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project-ideas/Elec_p093/electricity-electronics/arduino-voice-controlled-lamp. If you are running the example code as instructed there, you need to have the IoT relay connected to pin 13 on the Arduino, or edit the code to control it with a different pin. Make sure you are seeing the on-board LED on the Arduino (which is also connected to pin 13) turn on as well.

    • @Science.Buddies
      @Science.Buddies  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi - no, that is the trade-off of using these devices. They do not require an internet connection but can only process a limited number of voice commands. If you use something like a Raspberry Pi, you can connect to a speech-to-text service that runs the same technology used for Siri, Alexa, etc, and can process anything you say - but this requires an internet connection.

    • @Science.Buddies
      @Science.Buddies  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends which module you're referring to. The Grove module only recognizes a predetermined list of English commands. The Elechouse module can be trained to recognize any sound (which would include works in other languages).

    Hi I am just wondering if i can do this if my light bulb is directly connected to the circuit breaker and controlled by a common switch. What I want is just to insert the materials needed to the wire between bulb and switch with proper wiring. What do you want to suggest ? Thank you for an active response.

    • @Science.Buddies
      @Science.Buddies  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi - we do not recommend that approach because it involves handling high-voltage wiring directly, which can be very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. The IoT relay allows you to interface with high-voltage lights and appliances without needing to work with the high voltage wiring directly. If you want to do that we recommend that you consult an electrician.
