I did this hike when I must've been about 9 with my family. Had the opportunity to visit again with some friends this year and the nostalgia and happiness was so raw.
It's important to say that this national park include two deepest canyons in Europe, Tara and Sušica river canyon. Thank you for visit us, my ancestry(tribe) is from this region.
Beautiful video... I enjoy watching it. I am so glad you are impressed by Durmitor. I recommend you to visit National Park Prokletije and mountain ridge Volusnica-Talijanka - Popadija. Best regards.❤
Great video but I miss the information about the route, waypoints, how many kilometers it was, how hard/easy it was. Beautiful views but lack of information for others.
If you like the real wild Balkans, explore where next to nobody goes I have some suggestions. Epirus in Greece the Hinterlands. You will be by yourself. Lake Skadar at the border of Albania and Montenegro...by boat. The valleys of the Crni Drim and Beli Drim rivers in Kosovo and Albania. Ohrid Lake and city of Ohrid in North Macedonia. Rafting down the rifts and white waters of the river Una in Bosnia in the pittoresque gorge. Turquoise, greens and blues you never imagined possible in a river. ^^ The area around the Morača River in the center of Montenegro. Looks like the Wild West. ^^
1. This video is everything. My family watches travel/hike videos all the time and you are among the best. Congrats sir. We have subscribed. 2. You have inspired us to literally follow in your footsteps. We are now going to Montenegro in July 2024. Do you have a trail map of the hike you just did. We want to take it. Thanks in advance.
Hi thanks so much! I’m glad! You’ll enjoy it. I use an app called Maps.me it’s really good as it shows the hiking trails. I’d recommend getting it and setting the destination to bobotov kuk, and then it’s easy to follow the trail up as far as you want to go 👌🏼
Great video! Can't wait to head there myself in a few weeks! Are you aware if they have mountain cabins in the middle of these hiking trail for long distance hiking?
Me and my girlfriend are planning on going to montegro this summer! This hike looks amazing! Does this lead to Bobotov Kuk? Maybe you can recomend other hikes too that you have done there? Thank you. Regards from Lithuania
Yes if you keep going on this path it leads to bobotov kuk! There are a few around he lake I also enjoyed but can’t remember the names, I’m sure you’ll enjoy 🙌🏼
Thank you for sharing this wonderful place! What is the name of this trail? This trail looks so amazing. Where can we find more information about this trail? We will be going to Montenegro in two weeks and will stay near Durmitor NP for some days.
Thank you! If you search the Dormitor Ice cave trail on all trails you can find this path. it is very easy to follow once you are at the lake as its the same path used to get to Bobotov Kuk and so you will see some signs for that also. id recommend staying in Zablijak as you can start the hike from there :)
Hi Great video ❤ I have a question- we’re going to Montenegro in May and would like to go hiking, are the trails/routes well marked or do you need to use a map/ gps etc?
The ones from the lake are well marked but I’d recommend using maps.me as it’s an offline map so you don’t need internet and all the trails are marked on the maps 😊
Also curious at what point did you have to turn back prior to it getting dark? Was one day enough to get to the peak and all the way back down to starting point before hours of darkness?
I stayed at a place called Rooms Apartment Durmitor. It’s a little out of this city of Zabljak but close to the start of the mountain trails 🤙🏼 But there is lots of good accommodation in Zabljak too 👌🏼
Great video! Thank you! Can i ask you some questions? How did you get to the village? By bus? And from the village to the park os it really close? Finally, how far was the hikking? I am planning to visit Montenegro but will not have much time and do not know if it would be possible to spend some time at Durmitor.
Yeah I got a bus from Podgorica, and from th town you can walk there, it’s about a 45 min walk to the lake if it ember correct! The hike itself is probably about 5-7 hours return 👍🏼you could probably do a visit in a couple days 🤙🏼
Amazing video, tahnks a lot I wuld like to know Is it safe to hike without a guide, spend the night in a tent, and are animals dangerous? For example, bears are very dangerous in Romania, so we can't stay in a tent
Yeah I think hiking without a guide should be fine! There is a campsite on this hike near the mountain hut and I did see people wild camping, however there arrest bears so not sure how safe it would be. I think if you are careful it should be fine to camp maybe just check if it’s allowed 👍🏼
