- Customer sent in a pair of older Sanyo projectors that need some repairs. This one has no power when you plug it in. Found the power supply had a problem and there were some random screws floating around. This is an old but really bright projector. Its only XGA resolution but its something like 5 or 6000 lumens. Built like a tank too.
I do a bunch of electronic troubleshooting in this one. While a lot of repair is looking for "X Y and Z" that usually fail, you can't get tunnel vision and always reach for the parts canon.

3LCD? XGA? My Epson is exactly the same specs and I am using it daily! (Fixed the beast, sourced the blue polarizer localy!!!! ) . Loving the love you show towards repairs. Old(er) or new(er) models you treat them with respect. We NEED to keep the old machines running as long as possible! Thanks Frank!
What Epson Model do you refer using the polarized glass~
nice, lensshift model from 2009 ... and now the 2. spring, xga at it's best :) thanks for the blog frank.
Oh nice, thx mate ^^.
Youre welcome! thank you Ricky
I got 2 same-ish Sanyo Plc-wm5500 seems to be the HDMI version of this one, same problem no power, I tried to recap but no luck, no power at all.. The two died like 6 month apart, the capa was faulty, I must try to repair the second. Maybe my solder was not correct (capa is in good + -). I will see ! (Before disassembly, when plugged no standby power, no led at all, but when detaching AC cord the standby led blinks a little !)
what is the VCC voltage to the switching regulator? I would need to know what voltages you are seeing.
@@FixitFrank Thanks for the hint ! I will try to get the values this weekend :)
@@FixitFrank vcc P5 : 9.5v, also P7 P8 : 320v, 0v to others. I replaced c640 with 22uf 50v 105c capacitor !
That sounds low. I seem to recall VCC should be around 20-25volts for that IC. I'd check the cap that is filtering the VCC to the switching IC. Double check the data sheet for that chip and make sure I am right about the VCC voltage.
@@FixitFrank Yes I will check C642, the power supply is exactly the same of this video and your XM100 7 month video ! Thanks !
Hi Frank, Crystal was a very good contact.
All parts were in stock.
Do you have a Service Manual for the
NEC M311X / M271X /M361X
I have a pile of them to refurbish.
She is awesome! I dont hate it but check elektrotanya dot com. or even ask NEC. They are not that bad with giving out service info.
Hello Frank, Good work you do. Another fault on the SANYO PLC-XM150L (Dead) (No LED) Power Supply C640=22uf@50v C635=470uf:@16v C685=22uf@16v. I had 3 units to totally strip down and clean, but unfortunately I made the big mistake cleaning the Polorized Glass (Red Green Blue) with a swab. Totally ruined them (So Delicate). So now I am looking for new sets RGB if anyone has a few stripped down Optical Units. Pretty Please
Thank you!! and oh no! I did that once. I learned the same lesson. Now I don't even breath on those. Reach out to my friend at Time electronics. gydz@timeprojectorlamp.com They start the labor day holiday soon, so reach out asap. I might have some from a 4500 but I would contact the folks at Time. They should have them
@@FixitFrank Thank You, I should had really read the SM Manual since these are the first projectors I have came across using this projection format of Polorized glass in front of the LCD Prism.
that is one dirty sanyo and bit not size of the BenQ SU964
