    This video is wrong considering E° red and E° oxi, and also, there aren't actually OH- and H+ at the beginning of the experiment. What actually happened would be H2O giving electrons at anode and receiving electrons at cathode.

    How OH- can give H2O and O2 i don't understand

    The sulfuric acid bit was a little ridiculous, in equilibrium there would be little to none sulfuric acid. With the same idea of waving around ions you could argue that the solution is basified by NaOH, also technically present. But that's also misleading.

    Why would you add overlay cards to the end of the video when it blocks the content in the video?

      sorry they annoy you - you can access all of our videos at kayscience.com with no overlays at the end of any of our videos so you're able to do all the questions and see all the answers

    wait hold on, isn't the anode the negative electrode and the cathode the positive one?

    • @izukumidoriya5948
      @izukumidoriya5948 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No the Anode is the positive electrode where oxidation (loss of electrons) happenes and the cathode is the negative electrode where reduction (gain of electrons) happenes.

      oh, my b. I just learned that charges of the electrodes are switched in an electrolytic cell, as compared to a galvanic cell.

    Unbelievably annoying that such a useful, well produced, piece is ruined by overlay cards. I'm sure it's not you, the wonderful producer - inevitably it's TH-cam. If so, please feel free to 'kick their ***** and say that we hate that they allow this - it's not just me, I've read SO many similar threads. I've also fed back to TH-cam myself. That aside, your video is wonderful and appreciated. Thanks so much.

    PLz iwant to know what is the role of battary in electrolytic cells

    • @DeShark88

      It provides electrons to the cathode and removes electrons from the anode.
