    Hi, great technical videos. Not usual to see this type of detailed analisis. Congrats for that.
    Saying that, for saltwater spinning exposed to somes splashes and rain do you recomend the magseal in this model or the protection in the Shimano Sustain?
    I'm not sure which one to buy...

    Cool stuff im looking on buying another reel to add to my light tackle inshore stuff 2500 to 3000 sized reels currently have the previous gen Sedona and like how it casts it seems to throw line really smooth better than my heavy penn battle 2, anyways wanting something light and durable, minimal flex to reel in those redfish, since i use artificial and cast back to back all day long. Been eyeballing the daiwa exceler lt 2500 and the nasci 2500 stuck between those two even maybe the stradic I'll consider. If the daiwa casts like a shimano im game for it. What do think is best?

    I was reading some reviews on the lexa 300 HD and a couple people were have trouble with It engaging mid cast so I was wondering if you have had any trouble with your lexa hds also for large baits is the lexa 400 HD a really good real for that purpose because I like daiwa more than shimano.

  • @S1avk0
    @S1avk0 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you had to choose personally, for fishing for big fish from the beach (stripers, snook, decent [100lb] tarpon) would you pick a Saragosa or Ballistic (or other in the same price range)? I really like the idea of a lighter reel for casting lures all day long with the Ballistic, but have heard many good things about the saragosa.

    Great and detailed review! Thanks :) Wondered if you could solve a small doubt I have been pondering for a while... I just bought a Shimano Dialuna 806ML to target seabass. They recomend a 4000 size real (particularly the Shimano Excense 4000). I dont want to spend 500$ on a reel :P so I was looking at the ballistic as an alternative. My doubt is... should I stay with a 4000 or go down to a 3000 to have an ultralight but powerful setup? On the other hand, is the 3000 ballistic just going be too small for seabass from the rocks? Would Really appreciate your expert opinion on this one. Thanks!!

    TA!!! You're the man! Hey I bought Ballistic LT 5000D-C that I discovered had bad line lay. Not even the included spacers would correct it. So off to Daiwa it went. Their work order shows they replaced a bearing (120741). Though I have not let out enough line to test if they fixed the problem, I do notice a little play on the main shaft, and it's bothering me as it makes the reel feel loose. Granted I did not do a before-and-after comparison, but it still feels strange. Maybe it's me being paranoid, but is this normal? Anything I could check? To be honest I do not want to send it to Daiwa again. Any Daiwa experts you can recommend to look it over?

      Thanks man! I never handled one in person. Someone was gonna send me an MGX spinner but my camera went down so it would have been a month before I'd be able to do anything. So I put that off and never put it back in play. I have no idea if they are good or bad. But I'm not a fan of many pure fishing'/rubbermaid/ newell (or whoever owns them these days) reels. That Applies to every brand under that umbrella. As many are made by 3rd party oem's
      As it stands in my opinion.....There are zero spinning reel manufacturers out there that are as good as shimano or daiwa for freshwater

    Really looking forward to seeing the comparison of the old Ballistic versus this and the others you mentioned. I was seconds away from ordering an old Ballistic EX 2000 and backed out because it didn't have a line roller bearing. I ended up with a Revo STX20... Well I got the Abu for a good price, it is very light weight, and casts as good as any, but it definitely doesn't feel as durable now after 1.5 seasons of fishing. My older Ci4+ FA feels much more fluid and it has caught many more fish and I've had it a year longer. I still like my Revo STX20 and use it a TON (primary dropshot setup), and Abu has great customer service, sent my fiancé a new Revo Premier 30 to replace the older model that had issues.
    Just waiting for your coming reviews, because I might demote the STX to a 6'Light for panfish and put a Stradic Ci4+FB/Ballistic LT on my Medium Light Villain 2.0.

      Daniel Dean my Ballistic Ex have a roller

    • @logicalrationalfishing7481
      @logicalrationalfishing7481 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, they have like 9 or 10 bearings, I always figured they DID. Now by roller, do you mean anti reverse roller bearing or a LINE roller bearing. An anti reverse roller bearing is a weird little bearing with rolling shafts that prevent movement one direction. A line roller bearing is just a bearing that spins the line roller, a totally normal looking ball bearing at that.
      Once again, I always figured they DID have a line roller bearing (Certate's and some higher end Daiwa's have 2 on the line roller I think), but a few people on forum's told me the Ballistic EX did not have a line roller bearing.

      @@TackleAdvisors thanks for your response. I have quite a few shimano reels, the last one I bought was a sahara 1000 and as little as I've used it it's just not a nice feeling reel to me. I know it's a lower end model but I own an exceler and love it and how smooth and precise it feels. This go around I'm gonna go for a higher end daiwa. I originally planned on the stradic but the feel of the tatula to me is nicer. I like the cosmetics of the stradic better but smoothness means more.

    I am upgrading my drag washers on my old shimano spheros 8000fa from felt to carbon I am going to be cutting them out from a sheet of carbontex and I don’t know what diameter the washer should be. there is either .5 .8 or 1 millimeter thickness do you know or have any idea of what might work best?

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      All day Everyday fishing I don't know the exact but if you err on the side of thinner it should fit no matter what. If you have the old washers can't you just measure them? Do you have the sheet material already? If not spend 8 bucks for the pre cut washers

    Can you make a video how to break it down? I tried to take the main gear out , but it seem stuck. Could u please help me? I try to grease all the gears n add magsealed oil on mines. Thank you!

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pulling the main gear is a pain in the ass......I'm still not sure what allows it to come out cleanly. I assume you removed the clip on the right side above the bearing.......But it seems you have to remove the pinion and the lower pinion support bearing along with everything at that location. To gently finagle the main shaft out. Don't yank on the main gear because the teeth that run the oscillation gear will damage things if you get too aggressive with it.
      It's tricky......But I found with the pinion out some gentle wigglling will get the shaft out without bending anything

    And ballistic lt global gear is made from alumunium cnc.
    And the price is much higher than balistic lt japan.

Shimano? And which model?

    hey, do you know where i can find some generic mag seal fluid, im having problems with my ballistic 2500 after dropping it in the surf...its very grindy and i took it apart about 10 times, im pretty sure the mag seal got contaminated with saltwater so i removed it all now the reel is even worse now...i believe that mag fluid centers the main shaft so without it, it rubs all around while cranking...any help, id really appreciate it, ty.

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd bet the big issue is the mag plate not being centered... You have to play around with it then put the rotor on and snug it down... Wash rinse repeat... If off center it will be very grind as it rubs in spots... But any magic kit on amazon will suffice... Just need a few drops

    In your opinion would the larger size Ballistic LT's (5K & 6K) be worthy/sutible of fishing semi heavy Inshore fish (Bull Reds, big Snook, medium Tarpon) on a regular basis?

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Isn't the slammer 5500 in the size class of the gosa 8 and 10000? Gosa has been proven to be a tank. Slammer not so much. The one i have here had a chewed o ring. And the drag seal is kinda shredded. Plus the pinion chewed up the finish on th eframe. Some guys have really enjoyed them. But I've also read many complaining of tightness and poor line lay. So I'd go gosa until the slammer gets more feedback.

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll also add...The slammer beats the gosa hands down on paper 8 days a week....I'm willing to bet if you get a perfect reel it would too. Just throwing that out there.
