A true inspiration, even when he didn't have the money or the support needed. I'm sorry it took so long but I'm so glad that he's getting the recognition he deserves as a racer and a trailblazer.
Wendell Scott was and should always be remembered as a Hero, He raced with so many disadvantages from lesser cars and parts to dealing with constant racism to having to fix the car on his own yet he never made any excuses or gave up he continued to race and compete because thats what he loved and hw won a race in Nascars cup series thru all that adversity Thank you Wendell Scott you will always be remembered for your acomplishments!
you really do not understand Nascar. Wendell had the respect of many way before Woke was ever a word. I am 57 years old and I knew of Wendell Mr. Scott before i was 12 years old. Racers are racers. And Mr. Scott was one of the greatest.
He’s is the greatest driver of his time for what he had against the big top sponsors an drivers just like petty said if only he had a chance to have good equipment he would have a lot of wins an more people would know of him like the pettys Allison’s
@@greeneyesista I don't fly the confederate flag, but..if you think it represents racism you should go research what the civil war was actually about. Ending slavery was thrown in LATER, the war did not begin because of slavery. It was due to the federal governments overreach.
@@ryanralph7494 Not sure what ridiculous right wing propaganda you believe, but what you're saying is total fiction. There's actually a way to test whether or not the Civil War was about slavery. It involves reading the words that those Confederate leaders used when they wrote their reasons for leaving the United States. I was able to analyze four secession documents written by states: South Carolina, Mississippi, Georgia and Texas. I tried to find the words "state's rights" in any of them. I tried just about every spelling I could: "states rights," "state rights," "states' rights" or "state's rights." Not a single secession declaration used these words. Now the word "rights" can be found 14 times, and "right" appear 32 times in these four state secession declarations. But in reality, when the word "rights" or "right" is used, it tends to be "the right to own slaves." In fact, the word "slave" can be found 82 times in these four state declarations. At times, the states refer to themselves as "the slave-holding states."
When i was a kid watching Greased Lightning starring Richard Pryor as Wendell Scott the scene where he got cheated out of a win, got wrecked and they wouldn't even give him gas money to get home it absolutely broke my little heart and unfortunately I learned about Racism that day, this mans story needs to be retold and by some weird coincidence there exists an actor that looks almost exactly like him.
Too bad somebody didn't invest in Wendell Scott and his great driving he would have many wins in good equipment, you couldn't have ask for a better man I'd bet behind the wheel, he would have run the team with the financial backing and would have won with it, a hard worker and obviously a good person to boot. R.I.P Mr Scott
Silas McCarty The confederacy stood behind slavery and wanted to keep it. So it’s not tolerated. That’s like trying to argue Nazi’s meant well even though they exterminating thousands of Jews. Read a book
Silas McCarty I guess he was “brainwashed” by the truth in fifth grade. You’re brainwashed by the lost cause myth promoted by the united daughters of the confederacy.
Wendell Scott forever a great driver who raced with heart and never quit. He ran with the Best of the best in stock car racing with a low budget. Picture of Wendell had the sponsorship was on his side he would have dominated nascar. I was privileged as a young man to see Wendell race 34 tribute car sits on my shelf
@@elijahadmire8672 You want to talk fairness? How about you win a race and be told your trophy was given to 2nd place because of your color. These KKK members are anything but fair.
@@elijahadmire8672 Even worse was his one NASCAR win, the trophy wasn't awarded until after his death. NASCAR also withheld the check for winning that race for 2 weeks after he won it.
Watch all 3 video on Wendell today wow what a man super dad just think if he had the equipment like all the other competitions had he could have been champion many times over.
I had the honor of meeting Wendell Scott, and his sons, back in 1975. Amazing family. Wendell bragged about taking crap-can cars and make them competitive. Often getting parts from junkyards.
Its about effing time he got the award. The sad part is he never got the trophy from Buck Baker that Baker stole even when Baker knew Wendell beat him. The Baker family was rotten to the core. Even his son Buddy a NascaR racer in his own right didn't fix it.
I wish America and Americans would do something about things like this and stop repeating the same crap 💩 time after time again. What else do they all need to see that people colour doesn’t define them. Born Black is not a crime it’s a privilege!
He had "The King" 's respect as well as Junior Johnson's and many others of his era. He deserves our respect and he never wanted special treatment for his race. He was NASCAR's Jackie Robinson and for his character and tenacity alone he deserves this induction. Junior Johnson has said he would never have gotten where Wendell did with the same challenges and equipment that Wendell had. A well-deserved honor!
I wish every American would watch this. Very inspirational for all.
Seems more sad that he couldn't have been recognized when he was alive.
Wendell didn't get to see it.. So sad
My top 3 favourite racing drivers, Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda and Wendell Scot
Men don't live for forever , but legends never die - somebody better than I.

He can't hear you. NASCRAP made sure he died before his induction.
its about time
+Garry Baker A lil "late." but still Beautiful! I'm elated for his family. :-)
Garry Baker Thank you Sir🙋🏾
Love the fact that he had the respect from the other drivers before NASCAR finally woke up!

NASCAR has a history of racism and association with the confederate flag. Most drivers never even realized this.

I’m so glad Nascar inducted Mr. Scott. The Scott’s seem like a fine family!

Rest in Power Wendell Scott. The walls are definitely coming down
It’s a shame white man has to be like that I guess they didn’t go to church back in the early days of nascar

Giving a trophy and then giving awards to a man that has passed is shameful.
Hope Nascar learned something with the injustice this man went thru.
In all fairness the hall didn't exist till 20 years after he died.

Hello
He’s the reason for drivers like bubba
Too long way overdue.
Is everybody with 1 win gonna get into the Hall of Fame?
d texas he was the only black guy to get into Nascar on a winning level from 63 to 2015. That's historical. That's worthy.
I see where you are going with your comment and shame on you for thinking this way.
d texas 1 WIN are you fucking stupid this man was a WINNER he did'nt need trophies he had something you don't know anything about......CLASS!!!!!!!!!!

Texas in your profile name, didn't expect anything intelligent to come from your mind & finger tips. Hanging people still legal where your at?
