Happy New Year to you both. Thanks for all the wonderfully entertaining videos in 2021. So pleased that Debs is well and looking beautiful! Xx
I can see that working well in a van. Excellent review Mark.
👍
Hope you two are doing well miss seeing your little videos ❤️
This is a complete and utter beast. I have a small, off grid cottage in the west of Ireland and I'm thinking of buying one of these to power my day to day life. I would need to pannel the thing appropriately, given how cloudy it usually is there, but I think this might be the way forward.
The max Solar input is around 700W with a max voltage of 150volts you could probably over size the wattage as long as you stayed within the 150V max
Good to know you're still dreaming with the van build,! Good explanation of this unit
👍
great job.
Thanks!
We have recently found your channel and am now enjoying your videos, thank you. Your down to earth approach is really warming to watch 🙂. What a journey for you both though in more ways than one! Looking forward to seeing any new videos whenever you both feel up to it again, they help us to escape from this mad world at the moment ;-) Take care.
Welcome aboard!
Very professional demo.really knowledgeable. Happy New year to you and your family. All the best. Stephen
Happy new year Stephen
Missing your channel, hope you are both ok.
I absolutely love watching your channel. I haven’t got a bloody clue what you are talking about but it doesn’t take anything away from the information you are providing. Nice to see you made breakfast, did the ironing and the washing for Debs 🤪🤪💐💐
Thank you ❤️
We have a washing machine on ours - be lost without it. Great explanation, tony does the tech stuff - I’m with your wife - hair dryer is important haha , 😂
Hi,hope you are all ok,it’s been so long since you’ve brought out a video, life just isn’t the same without you lovely people
Hello it’s the middle of March we haven’t heard from you for quite awhile is everything 👌 Okay
We’re all good, still in the town of March in the month of March, we have just been having a break from filming but will resume soon
Hi mark , I’ll drop in a small token of my appreciation tomorrow, I’ve not been to the boat for a couple of weeks or you’d have had it by now😀

Keep safe warm dry and virus free.
Happy new year!
Looks like a great gadget….. I still have my ‘L’ plates well and truly on and getting to grips with nb stuff …. still trying to get my head around the solar!!!
Good to meet you both yesterday! 🙏👍
Great to meet you too. Thats part of the fun learning as you go along
I've been watching these things ever since they first started appearing on indiegogo. Well deserved that they sent you one given your previous excellent coverage of power options on a narrowboat. I nearly bought one on Black Friday but hopefully they will come down in price a bit more in January. If not I may hold out for the AC300 + B300 modular combo when it finally turns up. Maybe you could ask them for a promo code linked to your channel to knock a bit more off the price and promote the product to the narrowboat community. Great review as always!
I'll ask PowerOak if they have any promo codes
It is just a hello how are things ? missing you but please do not rush back till your ready. take care my friends xx a thumbs up will be a fine answer okay 👍🏻🤣
Thanks so much
@@welldeckdiaries5610 So all is well 👍🏻
Howdy , well presented and very informative , i live of grid with a small solar set up , for me a game changer , SOLD , cheers from Aus 👍
Glad to help
Hope you folks are ok. Haven't seen a new video in some time Hope you two are ok. Take care my friends.
Thanks Mark that was very interesting, I hope that you and Deb had a great Christmas and have a Happy New Year. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Thanks Steve,
Hi you 2. Hope all is well. We are just holiday boaters (for the last 40 years!!) and love everything about canals and waterways. We watch a lot of the boatie vlogs and you two, Rich and Fran and Colin and Sean are our faves.(We feel we know you all!!) Our next trip is booked for 14th May on a boat from Clifton Cruisers on the North Oxford and we are heading up to Hawkesbury and up the Coventry this year to Polesworth and back. This is really just a heads up for Mark to try a beer from Badger Brewery in Blandford Forum in Dorset which we think you will like. It is Fursty Ferret, an amber ale, which we can get on draught here in Weymouth but it is almost as good in cans.(I would send a couple of cans but I don't know where to send it!?) Hope you can find it and if you do and give it a go - let me know what you think. Keep up the good work all the best to both of you, Chris & Jan x
Hi good interesting video,a a good test,
Thank you very much!
Good morning happy New Year both...loved the power pack although we lost you you at the Hairdryer, you're looking fab Debbie,as I tell our friend who is just coming up to her penultimate Radio therapy.....hope to see you out on the cut during the year. xx😍😍
Good bit of kit..but for two grand you can get a couple of good lithium batteries with a longer run time...I know what I'd spend my money on. Keep the great blogs coming.
👍
Happy New Year to you both. Stay safe and take care.
Happy new year too you too ❤️
Happy New year. Thank you for another amazing year of vids. Love these reviews 😍. You definitely ain't short of units to power stuff now lol. Looking forward to what 2022 has in store for you guys. 😀
Happy new year Andy
Cor blimey you’ll be able to open a power supply shop soon lol
Thats the plan 😂🤣
Happy New year Debs and Mark, stay safew and well
Happy new year

Good review as well
Glad you enjoyed it
17 March 2022... have you given up on vlogging? Miss watching your vlogs.
Are you folks okay. Want to say I miss your video's. take care my friends from across the big pond.
Nice one Mark. Looks a great bit of kit. We're in line to buy a grp cruiser soon..this'll be handy! 👌
👍
Howdy guys and the unit looks great but a bit pricy all the same. Very good review and solves the washing issue. Have a great New Year. Keith.
Thanks Keith
hi debs & mark , hope you're both well , not seen you both for a while , take care , hope to see you both again soon . xx
Happy new year’s too you and deb
Happy new year to you and yours too 🎄❤️
If I get one will you come over and make me breakfast, and do the washing and ironing? Happy New Year to you both.
I'm tempted 🤣
Are you guys okay. Miss you!
Hi Mick that pice of kit is one of the better ones I think another one for your collection lol Makes a change from jackery you still got one of them ,how heavy is this one it looks well built, van build hay ,guess the vintage engine narrowboat out of the windows hay lol ,this was so interesting you explained the power pack excellent well donn Sir ,till next time take care keep safe, John 👀🥸🥸🤔🤬🤬🤔🥰
This is a real back breaker John (60.6lbs)
Can you set your load output on your mppt to then trick and then charge this unit if you could do a video of that would be amazing.... Hope your both well great video
Yes, that would be a similar setup with what I done with my solar dump
2 bags , wow , I think we'll have to carry on going to the launderette. Nice bit of kit though.
Probably more use for camping and Rv,s when you can charge on the mains and carry out.
Be a long time since we've been to the laundrette, Feb 2020 in Stratford upon Avon I think
Happy New Year to you all.
I’ve really enjoyed this years vlogs and looking forward to next years.
If you do a van build will you vlog it?
Take care.
If we do go down that rout I would set up a dedicated Chanel to the van build
Nice bit of kit if you have a spare £1600,and that's with the discount.would love 1 but will have to wait until the price drops a wee bit more.
👍
Hi, are you still using this piece of kit? Really interesting vlog.
yes we are
I power my LG clothes washer with four solar panels, an inverter I got for $20 and no batteries. I line dry so only do laundry on sunny days. If a cloud passes over machine will stop, but it remembers where it left off and just restart it when cloud passes. Also have PV hot water and feed that into cold water inlet . I don't care what they say on TV, hot water cleans better. Clothes come out of rinse cycle steaming!
Totally agree with hot water being better
You’re very clever! 🤣
Thank you! 😁
are you guys ok i sure hope so
Just having a well earned rest
Very impressive, what would you expect to be the battery life of the unit?
Great unit!! One question, how many charge cycles do the batteries in the unit typically have before they need replacement? Wonderful application, good energy usage and environmentally responsible! Good on you. 👍
3500 Plus according to their web site
Looks like you ran this through it's paces. I was curious, and maybe overlooked/not understood about how you can charge it using your solar. My question is - if you have your solar plugged into this unit all day, then what happens to your leisure batteries not getting charged? (Presuming you are out on the cut).
At the moment I manually have to change between leisure batteries and Bluetti with my solar but im sure I'll incorporate an auto changeover unit
It’s the dogs knob ;-)
Happy new year.
🤣😂👍
I think this is a great power supplement for running many of the boat systems. My question is how this would compare to a replacement of the domestic batteries with Lithium. For those that would need to buy this solution on their own, would it make more sense to spend on replacement leisure batteries which are already connected to the boat electrics and to the solar system? Just wondering how a retrofit to Lithium leisure batteries (2 Lithium may replace 3 maybe 4 carbon batteries) would compare to this external power solution in the long term. One final comment. If the longterm use is on the boat and and also for van, then this is absolutely the perfect solution. Your review was thoughtful and very complete. Thanks for doing it.
I think if I had a spare £2000 to spend on my boat electrics I would probably go the lithium route, maybe even a 48V system to keep the current draw down
Hi Mark, if solar levels are low would it be possible to charge this up using an inverter while cruising? Thanks
Yes, absolutely
Great review. Please pay the detractors no heed. Some folk just hate seeing others succeed. Really like the product. Would you buy the solar panel or just make do with your onboard solar? If the latter, is that an easy fix?
Personaly for our set up, fixed solar panels are much cheaper
Are you ok ?
Yes
I've buy a brand new drill press 2 years ago.. I would hug it same as you. Xxoo.
❤️
HI
stumbled across this upload I am also in this dilemma of thinking what appliance I need for my houseboat to run day to day appliances ,, I was just about to go and buy a victron multiplus 3000 inverter, but this clip is making me think I might purchase one of these ,, after owning this device power oak for another few months of uploading this clip what would you say is best appliance ? If you was in my shoes would you buy the multiplus ii 3000 or the poweroak ?
Kind regards Joe
Its a hard call, if you go for the Victron multiplus 3000 you will also need a decent battery bank and charging source. We still use the Poweroak (Bluetti) every few days to run the washing machine and always re charge it with the solar, so we swear by it.
amzn.to/39dVdYU
It is just four 3.2v 180Ah LifePo4 cells with a BMS, inverter, charger and mppt in a posh box. The cells and BMS can be bought for less than £500. 2kW inverters for less than £200. Chargers and MPPT controllers for the price of a round of drinks. So at £2k that is one very expensive box they put it in.
There are 16 x 3.2v cells, 2000Wh, 40Ah and its current retail price is £1699.
Apologies for not explaining things better
@@welldeckdiaries5610 16 smaller capacity cells or 4 larger capacity cells it is still just what I said in a shiny box with a very big mark up. Fine for those with deep pockets (or who get one for free) and who don't know how to connect things together but people should be aware of what is exactly inside the shiny box that they are paying big bucks for. It is the same for drop in LifePo4 batteries - the components inside are cheap but the prices charged just for putting them in a plastic box are not - someone is making a big mark up. Also several drop in batteries conected in parallel are a worse installation than individual cells connected in a correct serial and parallel configuration and controlled by only one BMS. Often paying more for convenience results in buying something that does a worse job than if you just put in a little research and effort. Now get your Dremmel out and give us a proper review by cutting that shiny box open and showing us exactly what is inside that £2k box! (which they just dropped £300 which tells you all you need to know about their profit margins!). The all in one shiny box also has the disadvantage of having all your eggs in one box. Inverter goes pop when out of warranty and you have to throw everything else away too. I think your review could have mentioned the benefits and the disadvantages to be considered a fairer review.
@@vonasi2 I guess you won’t be buying one then 🤭🤭
@@colinstewart173 Correct. However if they also want to give me one for free I'd have it.... then I'd flog it before I even took it out of the box.
Very interesting, as always. Just a quick question, what did you look for when choosing your washing machine?
Ps. Sorry for jumping in - just wanting to help cc
Hi, having had the poweroak for a while now, are you still as impressed by it or has it shown any issues?
It has been used 2 to 3 times a week to run the washing machine and has performed faultlessly. We are so please with it. I think the price has come down as there are new models out now
This is our one
amzn.to/3OBklbc
Thanks for your reply, made our minds up to get one of those 👍
Wow that looks awesome, I already have a petrol 2.5 kw sign wave generator, is it worth getting as well?
Just stick with your petrol genny
Looks like a nifty unit, but way too pricey for me. I'm the Skint Sailor! I'll stick to my freebie petrol generator for running my power tools on the boat. Or carry on using my "was cordless, now corded" 12v drill.
👍
You're a whiz! Very interesting!
Thanks
I hope all is well. Weird fact. I miss seeing you guys. Robert from Denver
We’re all good, we’ll be back vlogging soon
Well hang on though. At those prices, surely you'd opt to just put proper LiFePO4 batteries in the boat, if they hadn't supplied a unit?
It costs about the same as the equivalent lithium batteries while also including a BMS, voltage, temp and surge protection, a 2000w inverter, MPPT controller, A/C charger, 25a 12v output, two 240v sockets, USB (c), wireless charging etc. If you tried to wire up the same using using the individual components it would cost several thousand pounds and unless you really knew what you were doing you'd also have to pay someone to do it. It also comes with a one year warranty. The reason these things are so (relatively) cheap is because they are driven by the RV market in the States and have economies of scale... it also helps that they do not have the word "boat" written on them, which would double the price.
Correct.
The main point was to try to demonstrate what these units are capable of, regardless of boat, van or any other offered situation
Wise words 👍
I bought a Jackery 240 on the strength of your review, I’m not sure I have the need for a £1699 unit, but it does look an excellent bit of kit.
One thing, if the solar was charging the Bluetti and was automatically stopped can the solar be transferred to your leisure batteries?
I can implement an auto hangover system
I left you a message on messenger 👍
Could I use it charge up a car battery I my garage that hasn’t an power supply
Depends on how flat your battery was, it not it would be like trying to fill a pint glass with a half pint glass
