I swear to god I can never forget this movie. My parents used to tell me as kid that Western people hated us, but I used to challenge this idea and didn't want to believe it. I remember when this movie aired on BBC Arabic and I was literally shocked when I watched it as a kid. I started thinking "why? why do they hate us like that? what did we do to them?" and tried to hold my tears and anger in front of my family. The images and words said never left my mind. I think I was 11 at the time.
Wow. I grew up in the 80s and 90s. I can see the disparity so clearly here. I've been a supporter of the beautiful Syrian people, art, music and determination to be free. This hits home. This is an excellent documentary so far and I'm only half way through. Please remember the nightingale.
to be fair, the cliche that they com[plain about sticks. 48035 Muslamic terrorist attacks in the period between 1979 and 2021 is testament to how muslamical people behave in the real world. Unfortunately the rate of atrocity has increased of late. It is not Buddhists or atheists that are generating these numbers. Don't drink the kool aid, the stats don't lie.
Excellent documentary and shocking reality: It made me reflect how we are brainwashed from childhood through adulthood; by our government, film studios, and news & entertainment industries: Beyond Shocking 😳
Brainwashed people fear the truth and run from it like the plague. God forbid they learn the truth. In the words of the band "Pink Floyd", they are "Comfortably Numb".
@@ysafar I saw this documentary in 2007. It was made in 2006. Most people I show it to are stunned they never heard of it. There have been clips of it on TH-cam for 17 years.
@MadeleineTakam I bet this documentary has most likely been suppressed by the youtube algorithms limiting people's access to it so they don't become woke. So much of this is so pertinent today. Great analysis in this doc.
If you look at the timeline, every single one of the anti Palestinian movies was created at a key point in palestinian history at the hands of the brutal occupation.
Holy cow.. I remember this too, but I was a touch young and didn't understand. Remember a brother shaking his head and explaining the whole symbology behind the scene. Surprised I understood him to be honest. But it was eye opening....
As an Egyptian Muslim, a lot of Hollywood disgusts me, I'd genuinely be enjoying a movie, and when a 'bad arab' shows up and does something evil, I could only think "This is not us. Those are not our actions"
This just came up randomly on my feed and boy am I glad I watched it. I never heard of Jack Shaheen, but now I wish I'd known him before he died. I remember the "Aladdin" lyrics controversy and was happy to read that it was HE who got the words changed.
Last 10 years I watched this, i was 26 years old, and it made me cry, and today i am 36 years old man crying my eyes out, nothing has changed, and it is depressing.
So happy to have stumbled across this profound documentary! As a Lebanese American, I've spent the most part of my professional career as a Middle Eastern dance educator trying come to terms with "orientalist" perspectives of my art and how best to overcome stereotypes resulting mostly from the film industry. Thank you for sharing this valuable film!
there was a very short period in the late eighties when the Russians were constantly the stock villains and they actually portrayed the mujahideen as heroic freedom fighters in at least a couple of movies. one was a James Bond movie and the other i remember was Rambo 3. but those are very rare instances. and they really ramped up the negative portrayal after 2001.
The documentary was truly outstanding. Although I maintain a differing opinion from the one you have expressed. They didn't begin to view Arabs in a negative light only after the 9/11 events, but rather, this perception existed before then.
I thought Americans will be questioning 9/11 after the invasion of Iraq in 2003 based on lies, deception, money laundering, confession by members of US military etc. Plus too many holes in US government investigation report of 9/11, and eye witness reports, the firefighters, families of the victims etc.
ps..."cast a giant shadow" DID come straight from public relations..aka...the concerted effort to ensure pro u.s and pro israhell propaganda made it's way into american cinema. There is an entire branch of the dept of defence dedicated to this.
How about Rudolph Valentino in THE SHEIK and THE SON OF THE SHEIK? They portrayed him as an Arab kidnapping "white" women for a harem! Silent movies, 1921
wow top doco, makes me glad I put my brain in a bucket when I watch a majority of films coming out of america, I read nothing in to them it is just entertainment
Another great film was "HAnna K" by Costa Gavras and staring Mohammad Bakri. Unfortuantely that film was fought by Bnai Breth and withdrawn from the US
See the movies really worked. The worth of an apple nowadays is not the same as before or what it meant to steal from the community. And even before if you think that they would chop people’s hand in a snap and create amputees who would struggle even more to work you are very mistaken. Stealing out of necessity was felt as a failure from the community rather than an individual wrong and such punishment was completely out of the question.

I wonder if this so-called producer has ever been to Arabia? I worked there for 5 years. I can relate much of what I see in his 'evidence' to my experiences there. I lived in the towns, and cities with them, not in a 'Compound'. The rich do have their sensual parties, and the middle class go to Bahrain, The young men who have never seen a woman's face in public don't know how to behave when they see a normally dressed female hostess on an airline. What makes 'comedy' funny is the fact that it's satire. Jack Shaheen's loyalties are blatant.
No you’re just slow and can’t recognize propaganda. Especially when you have some understanding of the fact that Hollywood and politics are very much interconnected.
thank you for the upload. this is so relevant right now. everyone in the west should watch it

Marlon Brando was right, every group of people have been vilified in Hollywood except for one.

Funny when Arabs are represented speaking in these movies, they sound more like Israelis speaking English...We dont have the KH that much

The character in Network reminds me of Trump, except that Trump has no scruples about being bought by Arabs.

but belly dancing isn't Arab, it's Turkish, and Iran aren't Arabs either…

You're not supposed to say that
I guess it will be similar from the other side.
