I am so grateful to have our electric back in service. It's been a rough go, but so blessed to be alive and made it through the storm. Even though the weathermen were on top of everything, I don't think anyone imagined the devastation that Helene wreaked. Thanks to the linemen and all the first responders who put their own lives on the line every day. ❤❤❤
Praying for all those affected.
Sending prayers from Texas ! 🙏♥️🙏
Amen and Amen!!!!! Our power was restored in 3 days. I live in a retirement village in North Florida and they take such good care of us. I am so proud of our linemen. What a wonderful job they did! I'm glad you made it through. Glory to God!!!
Prayers from Florida.
So sorry for everyone that suffered through the hurricane. I’ve been praying for everyone everyday. Blessings to you.
Anyone else as excited about this as I am? Oh yeah!🎉
miss Lori, it's the vibration that effects your hands. when I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis my doc said anything that vibrates will cause my hands to hurt. that means battery powerd small hand yard tools ,a drummal set & yes the hand mixer. and my fingers are not turned like yours yet. I love you & paw brown. you are like an aunt and uncle to me.
God Bless
What a great idea to bring back old recipes:)
Bless the responders and rescue, prayers for them
Prayers for all those people. So heartbreaking!! Thank you for the cookie recipe. Love you both. ❤
I have a grandson that is with Friend Ships. They are a world wide relief oganization locate in Port Charles LA. They are getting things together to go help. Samaritans Purse is already in GA. helping. Prayers are also needed. Thanks

I’m sending prayers everyday. My heart goes out to all those that have been in the storm.
I love this new series!
Love watching this and then watching you and Mr. Brown eat them!!!! God bless you and all of the people that are hurting
I love cooking from my old cookbooks. I have a huge collection.
Cookies look delicious. I will be making these, my grandsons will love them. My husband is a truck driver, he's been delivering supplies down south, he says it's a terrible there. God Bless them all.
Bless your husband
Enjoy your music. You and Mr. Brown are fabulous people.
Those cookies are like meringue cookies. Great for the holidays. Thank you Miss Lori 😊
I have the 1959 edition of the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook that my dad and I gave my mom for Christmas in 1959. So many recipes have moms notes beside them, and pages have spots and tears occasionally, but it's still loved. I have many of both grandmother's recipes, and some great grandmother's recipes that are over 200 years old.
That is awesome!
Oh I love it Miss Lori, very exciting to see your 1st cookbook recipe show! Keep'em comin!
Wow ! That is an arsenal of chocolate !😮😮😮♥️♥️♥️
Hope you do a playlist of your cookbook episodes ♥️
So excited to see this series get started! This recipe is about the same as one my Mom used to make called "Forgotten Cookies." The batch wasn't quite as big because you had to put them all in the oven at the same time. While you mixed the cookies, you preheated the oven to 400, then you placed the cookie sheets of dropped cookies in and turned the oven OFF! You left them until the oven was completely cold (or overnight) ... hence, Forgotten cookies!
Seeing Pa Brown emotional - I truly believe you’d be there in a heartbeat for them all affected by the hurricane 🤍 god bless everyone 🤍
Yes we would
Hey there Miss Lori & Mr. Brown, Looks good 👍 ! Thanks for sharing! ❤ & Prayers
Thanks so much
I believe the money that some channels have collected, are purchasing water, food, shovels, cleaning supplies and equipment. This effort will take a long time because MANY have lost EVERYTHING. The supplies have been taken in by helicopter in some areas, plus many are still being rescued.
Thats wonderful
My mother would of been 105 September 29. I have her cookbook that my grandmother got her when she got married. I treasure it deeply!!❤️
That is awesome!
That was interesting and fun. A great idea for Christmas cookies. So many people are gluten free and would like to have cookies. Thank you.
Ms. Lori, I always make ice cream and angel food cake at the same time. My favorite dessert. Makes a perfect frozen ice cream cake. The Angel Food Cake uses the whites and the ice cream (pioneer woman recipe) uses the yokes. So good.
Sounds great!
Oh sooo looking forward to watching your new series ❤❤
Praying 🙏🙏 for the people who are still alive from Helene. used to do all the cooking, but not any more Love your videos about your life ❤❤❤❤❤
My grandma church would release a new cookbook every year. My grandma would get every one. I have inherited them and I love cooking out of them.
Looks wonderful
You're the best doing this!
Thank you for praying for those of us in hurricane Helenes wake. I had to get a new phone and Internet just came back this morning. I made sure to re subscribe to your channel
This looks delicious! I can’t eat gluten so this one was for me for sure! Prayers for all those poor folks in need. We have been through many hurricanes here in Florida. Ian was a direct hit for us so I know how hard it is. It breaks my heart to see these folks suffer.😞
I’m a 65 year old retired school teacher, never married but not ugly 😉. I’m here in San Antonio. I love the old ways, too. Thanks for your lovely, gentle videos. I hope you have great success with your channel!
Thank you
I love this , looking forward to these recipes ❤❤❤thank you
This was a fun video! I love the idea of going thru the old cookbooks and picking out a recipe. Please keep doing this. 😊 💕
Thank you! Will do!
Miss Lori, What a terrific idea you’ve come up with. Really like the little Scott Joplin tune you played at the beginning. Always enjoy your videos and spending time with you and Mr. Brown.
Thank you so much!
I love cookbooks.I lost a bunch of my great grandmother and my Granny and Mothers in a fire in 1999 on 1st day of January. Have found some of them and so happy to have them ,Thank you for cooking from your cookbooks.
Thanks for sharing!!
I'm glad you are cooking with it
Thank you for doing this, I often wonder about old recipes. 😋
Hope you enjoy
That was fun Ms Lori. I never saw that book before. I'm amazed they taste like chocolate chip cookies. I am gonna have to give those a try. My goodness yes, prayers and donations for the many hurting and those helping from the storm damage. It is reassuring to see so many private organizations stepping up. God bless! 🙏🏼❤️🇺🇲
Yes Thank you
Well, hello Miss Lori... !!!! Just came in from chores, fixed me a cup of coffee and sat down to find you on the screen. I have a lovely collection of old (very old) cookbooks... especially the old cookbooks from church-ladies. Thank you for deciding to do this. And I do have that exact cookbook, by the way.
Watch your post-box for a package from the prairie of Colorado... it has the wheat that I promised you from our recent harvest... hard, white winter wheat. Happy grinding and baking.
Also, the new book “Return”, from the ‘Prairie Series’ with young Frankie Harding will be released within a matter of weeks and I’ll send you a copy or two as soon as the publisher send me the advanced copies.
Love it Thank you
God Bless all those effected by the hurricane. My prayers are with each and every person and animals 🙏. Thanks for sharing this recipe as well, it looks delicious 😋
Yes, thank you
I wish I could make it to your yard sale! We are going to the Razorback game. I gotta try those cookies! I'm so, so excited that you're doing these videos! ❤
Thank you so much for the idea, I have three granddaughters twins are 9 and the oldest is 10. We made this a special thing when they spend the night. We grabbed a cookbook and we cook together. It was so fun and special.❤
That is awesome!
Ms Lori and Mr. Brown I would like to thank you for all your prayers you have lifted up to God for our state and the people that have loss everything due to the storm. We just visited our mountains 3 weeks ago and now they are just devastated. Thank you again. Love 💘 Linda Hardee Greenville NC.
So heartbreaking
Still In our Prayers
Sunday Blessings Mrs Lori & Mr Brown.
Love your old cookbooks.
Thank you!
Wow this took me back! I made these with my Aunt Anna when I was little. I remember them well. Thank you for this memory ❤ I have to do this with my son ❤
You are so welcome!
I have the first cookbook that my daddy bought for me when I was 6 years old. I have collected well over 1000 cookbooks and my favorite are church cookbooks. They are tried and true recipes from good home cooks. I had the pleasure of working on 3 church cookbooks. My husband had an Amish man make me a 12 drawer stand oak recipe file cabinet. I also have my mother’s 3 recipe file boxes. I send a new recipe out with every Christmas card. Just love receiving recipes from friends. Thank you for doing this video. It’s a joy.
Thats awesome
So excited for this ❤
Oh wow I do love old cook books I have one from 1883 and talk about things in there you never heard of. This look so good can’t wait for more recipes.😊
Oh Ms. Lor I love this cookbook idea! GOT MILK? Yes, this Hurricanine events has kept me up at night in tears & pain. God is telling our world something! Love & Blessings from Fla.
Heartbreaking
The cookbooks from Churches are the best when all ladies shared their favorite recipes in years gone by.
These sorta remind me of Forgotten cookies with the ingredients, except I use chopped pecans instead of walnuts and semi sweet chocolate chips instead of the grated chocolate. The ingredients are similar. It’s one of our daughter’s favorites. I know these are delicious. Thank you Lori for sharing.❤️✝️🙏🇺🇸
My mother made these when I was a little girl. Back then I didn’t like nuts so she made some without. These are a fun, light, sweet treat. Blessings.
So good
I just love your channel. It's like visiting family.
You are so kind

Thank You , Lori for the recipe for chocolate cookies . They look so delicious . Hope your garage sale goes good . I have continued to kept every body in prayer . The ones that is working to help people . And the people that needs help so much . Protect over all these people in the name of Jesus . Amen 🙏🏼.
Amen
Love this idea! You know, with all of the newer cookbooks I have bought over the years, I always go back to my mother's old cookbook for basic recipes. My heart goes out to all of the victims of this hurricane and pray that their wounds heal. I wish I could afford to donate, but living on a very fixed and limited income, that cannot be. For those in my boat, remember that prayers are free and unlimited.
Love this video of you cooking from your old cook books.. Your cookies look yummy, can't wait to try this recipe.. Please keep praying for all of the people that lost everything and loss of life in the hurricane... Prayers 🙏🙏.. that our Lord Father in Heaven will send his host of Angels to help !! God Bless y'all..
Thank you! Will do!
I know I'm going to love the "Cooking With Lori's Cookbooks" series!
My niece and a brother-in-law are gluten free so they'll be great for Family Dinner ❤
Continued prayers for all the people in the areas devastated by the hurricane and flooding. And all of our Whippoorwill Holler family 🫂
Thank you
Awesome great idea to give us recipes thank you Miss Lori ❤❤
You are so welcome!
Talk about memories...thank you, dear 😊 I've not made meringue cookies in 45 years or so. I learned after the first couple times they have to be stored immediately after cooling in airtight containers (with paper in between each layer). If not, they absorb moisture like nobody's business.
Yes!
Yes prayers and help for all those people suffering from the hurricane. And thank you for the recipe! Those look yummy, AND my sister has to eat gluten-free, so I'll be sharing this recipe with her. God bless!
And another storm is coming,
This is first time I ever heard of it but looks great!
I love your top!
Miss Lori I think anything you make will turn out good ❤
Thank you
These cookies remind me of French macarons , similar recipe, less fussy. Thanks for sharing Lori. God Bless
They are very good
I love both old and new cookbooks too. I've never liked pumpkin and I wish I did. I enjoy your tutorials. I wish Mr. Brown could do some Bible readings .
Glad you like them!
I may have to try these because I have to go for free. And my husband loves cookies and I get to eat some too this way.
Love trying older recipes. I shall join. You each Friday. They look delicious
Yay! Thank you!
I love old cook books. I have quite a few. Carry on Ms. Lori. Learning never stops
Thank you, I will
Great idea Ms Lori 💗💗 I’m excited 😊
So glad!
This reminds me of my recipe called nighty nights. Beat egg whites, vanilla, sugar and nuts or chocolate chips. Put in 200 degree oven for a short time, turn off and leave in oven overnight. They taste like a crispy divinity candy 🤗
My mother's recipe for same was called Forgotten Cookies, but the recipe says preheat to 400° and turn off when you put them in.
Excellent. More like this, please.
Miss Lori, I love your idea on Friday. New recipes & old cookbooks.
I enjoyed your video & I can make these to sell to my gluten free customers.
Miss Lori you're pretty & the sweetest lady. And a good teacher & cook.
I'm making these.
Thank you so much
I love to do this, myself. How wonderful to do it with you. I'm excited to try it
Wonderful!
I really enjoyed watching you make this recipe. They looked so good. I’ve made that trip from Southwest,Va to Fordyce, Arkansas 5 years ago for my sister’s funeral. It took us 12 hours and was a hard trip. I live about 45 minutes from Boone, NC. We got very high winds and heavy rain. Lots of trees down and loss of power. We were so much luckier than the towns of Damascus, Va. and Boone, NC. You don’t see a lot about the small towns that were hit so hard. It’s so hard to watch videos and see the devastation in places that I’ve known all my life. I know Arkansas has seen a lot of bad storms before too. When my sister lived there and also in Mississippi, she worried about the weather. Do remember these people in your prayers. It will start getting cold here in a few weeks. The communities have come together. Neighbor helping neighbor. Churches stepping in and Samaritan’s Purse have been a God send. God bless you both. 🙏♥️
They're actually expecting a couple of cool nights this week...37° one night. Praying they all find full tummies and warm beds. 😢
It is so devastating and heartbreaking
Shout out from your friends out of Easley,SC,pastor Brian and Nancy Aiken. We are still out of power but so thankful we are ok. We had about 12 trees down across our driveway but none on our house. We live an hour from Asheville and our church has a team heading up there this coming Saturday. Our hearts are broke for those in WNC and we are praying they can soon all be rescued. Me and my husband love ya’ll cause ya’ll are just like us. Keep on keeping on cause you’re doing a great job. Love and prayers to you, our dear friends in Christ
Please if you need anything we will do our best
❤❤❤ So happy to see this Mrs. Lori!!! I pray that you Mr. Brown and the whole family are doing well 🙏 ❤❤❤ Love y'all from Central Illinois
Thanks so much
I’m excited to see more recipes from your old cookbook
More to come!

Thank you for sharing the old recipe.
Thank you so much!
Thank you.❤
Thanks, prayers for all the people in those states that have so much devastation, just awful. I have relatives in Georgia and yes a tree fell on my great nieces home. 🙏
Sorry to hear that
@@WhippoorwillHoller I saw a report of the weather that said a cold front had already come down to Tennessee and then the hurricane came up from the south, thus so much devastation! 🥲
Ms. Lori, I have to tell you, I think longer hair suits you well❤ and I am excited for this new series on your channel! My oldest cook book is from the 1840's.
Thank you so much!
🌹great video! This was fun!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks so much
I am so excited for this series! Thank you Mrs Lori for spending this time with us ❤ I sure wish I could come from to Ohio to y’all’s garage sale 😂
That would be wonderful
@@WhippoorwillHoller one day we’ll all cross paths! maybe not here on this earth but surely in Heaven where we will all rejoice together 🥲♥️
Oh my granny used to have that very same cookbook
I have made a similar cookie years ago - like probably 30 yrs ago. If my memory serves me, my recipe said to preheat oven to 325° and then turn the oven off and leave them in there overnight. They had chocolate in them but I don't remember about the nuts. I think they were called Overnight Chocolate Meringues. That's a great recipe for those who struggle with a gluten-free diet. Yummy treat 😋 ❤
I’m looking forward to the cookbook’s recipes. The cookies look delicious.
Thank you
Looking forward to the recipes.
Happy Anniversary! Yes y’all are always doin something! I enjoy watching yall when I get the chance to settle down. I’m canning pork in my new Presto Electric Canner. I think I like this canner!

You do have an arsenal of chocolate, don't you. You two are a pleasure to watch. Cooking these old recipes should be interesting.
I wanted to thank you for the canned beef tips in gravy recipe. Delicious over egg noodles. I just started canning at 77, and they were my 3rd try and came out great! Can't wait to try the cookies.
Wonderful!
I love this recipe and I sure do pray for all those effected by the hurricane .
I love this series😀
Loving the new (old) recipes! Hopefully, these people in such dire need will get what they need asap!
