Sciences are brutal. They expect you to instantly memorize 8 courses at once, and any sign of struggle, you are mocked by the teachers and called “slow”, “not wired for this”
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels that way. I’m in college now and I felt like I was the dumbest person in the room. The whole class was smarter than me and I feel like I would fail a class.
I actually want to cry. im taking five classes and im failing three of them, have a d in one and a c as my highest in the last. im so upset because I don't know how I got here. I attend the lectures for the most part, takes the quizzes, do the tests. I was so smart in high school and it's literally my freshman year. sorry for ranting I just got upset and saw your video was recommended.
Heyy, I am so sorry you are going through that and you have nothing to apologize for. College is very different from high school and it’s so difficult. What really helped me was reading the book “Teach yourself how to learn” because my college professors advised us to read it. It was the best thing I ever did. Along with that, if I didn’t understand certain concepts I would teach it back to my friends or if I was studying alone I would pretend I was teaching a class that concept. That forced me to actually learn the material and it really really helped. I am not sure how helpful this comment will be but I really hope it is. Wishing you well and success in your studies! Don’t give up just yet…try new strategies and don’t be afraid to ask for help from your teachers and classmates. Office hours are also great! You got this!
@@carolincheco7711 Girl it’s only my freshman year and I’m failing three classes too. Like I did so well in high school. Are you still in college if so how have things been.
I felt that way I made the mistake of choosing engineering with out relising the people there love to gatekeep education to "determine who is worthy". Switching majors has helped because it helps to learn when everyone isn't acting like they have a stick up their ass 24/7, and proffessors don't act like you are unworthy when you ask for help because you are struggling with a topic
yes! a lot of STEM kids & professors especially in engineering can be really unreasonable and unbearable. I’m so that that was your experience! Hope everything is going well with your current major!
College is no joke. I don’t learn a thing. It’s honestly flying through pages and barely understanding what your reading. It’s too much too fast. All you can do is skim through and pass. Everything you learn you forget. I have a masters already. Took me 19 years as I got it in the military. But the idea of paying thousands to be felt like your dumb is sad. Or to be told well your in college so now it’s time to play guessing games and professors don’t really teach. You really have to teach yourself and it’s BS. I pay for this crap. I should get better service and professors should be teaching. Not telling you to figure it out. I did a lot of instruction in the military. We always used this acronym EDIP. Explain, demonstrate, imitate, practice. If my students failed and I said well they are grown and should know how to figure it out, I would be told it’s a flaw in my teaching. My students then became a priority and I realize I need to be a better teacher. Professors be like I’m a doctor and better than you and your not good for this gig if you can’t teach yourself.
My french class is making me feel so stupid. I want this semester to be over already and I JUST started college in august. I know that I’ll be fine though. Thanks for this video 💓.
I need help. I never took school serious and I just graduated from HS this past school year (2021) and I have no clue what I want to major in, and I’m running out of time to decide. My mom is telling me to just take my general classes over at the community college in my town, and that’s fine and all but I still don’t know what I want to do. The school part is what is stressing me out, because I was never good in school, and I just don’t know what to do. I also want to be rich so it doesn’t help. Also no one in my family has ever went to college
Hey Hailee! Don’t stress too much! You are so young and have so much life ahead of you to decide what you want to do. But I also remember being 17/18 and having no clue what I was gonna do with myself so I understand. I would say take a career quiz and a strengths quiz (just Google career quiz and for the strengths quiz try using strengths quest). Some of these online quizzes can be really lengthy so make sure you take them when you have enough time. I would also say that your mom is right about going to Community College and just taking general classes. Personally, I feel like college opens a lot of doors and in taking some of those classes you might fall in love with a subject or a concept and that’s how you truly find what you want to do with your life. Trying taking different types of classes in areas you are interested in. Think back to high school, what subjects interested you the most? Even if you weren’t good at them, which ones did you find interesting? After doing all this recommend writing a list of possible career paths you are interested in. Everyone's good or decent at something. You just have to find it and you will eventually! I hope this helped!
I just join my college and i feel dumb and stupid after coming from college to my home because i don't have enough confidence to speak in public like on any topic today was a contest in my college and i won't be able to speak properly and my body was shivering and also i think i don't have enough knowledge about topics, i want to speak in public with confidence and with knowledge but what should i do to be able to do that? And also the other freshers was so confident and also some of them won the contest I feel so bad about my self at that time...how can I increase my knowledge and be confident at the same time? Actually I can speak with people but I can't speak in public when there's more than 1-2 people looking at me.
Im a junior in hs and im still struggling to find out what I want to major in...im interested in chemical engineering but im not sure if im passionate about it and its really making this whole college application process even more stressful than I think it needs to be😞
omg I was in the same position in high school!! I can help if you have questions. I am going to be a Junior chemical engineering major next fall so I can answer your questions about chemical engineering!! Feel free to reach out. I would love to help or answer questions💗
I'm really tired of these questions that give me no information. I feel like there is knowledge that I skipped to answer these questions. The worst part is they wait until the exam to ask these questions. Wouldn't it make more sense to give you the hard questions before the exam to teach you how to think when you get to the exam?
yeah it kinda sucks. I learned the hard way to look at the the textbook questions and study them before exams. They are usually much more difficult than the actual exam questions (at least for me). Good luck with school! You got this!!!
if you don’t mind me asking, what were you studying? If you are going to do it again, my biggest piece of advice is to make sure you find a community in your major or create your own community/study group. That is single handedly the only reason I didn’t give up. It’s better to do college with a group of likeminded people instead of doing it alone. Doing it alone makes is so much more difficult. I wish you all the best and I know you can do it!! Sometimes it just takes finding the right people to do it with.
ohhh I am so sorry!! It’s gonna be okay. Just make a plan, make some friends in your major and hold each other accountable for studying and you can keep each other aware of when exams or assignments are due. College is easier if you have a community of like minded people around you. I hope it works out! You got this!
