I saw a Gleaner today out pounding corn, its rare to see a big field with only 1 combine going usually anywhere from 2 to 5 going at the same time. This Gleaner was cooking right along and of course it was a big as a smaller shop and was running a 12 row header, and he was not running very slow at all, there were also 4 semis at the end of the field they were dumping the grain cart into!

At one time the Gleaner was the best combine out there. I grew up shoveling oats from an IH model 93. The oats were always full of ragweed seed.

I bet you one thing, when that thing was new, you could look over a real good field of corn from the cab. Now you can barely see what's in front of you for all the corn plants.
Farming have surely changed in many ways.

That cab must be some later additon. When that combine was new, a hundred bushels and acre was considered a good yield. They were never built to handle what we have now. I think it had the same engine as a D 17 about 45 horse or so. They were a great little machine for small grain and with a ten foot header for beans.

I think the Gleaner E has the same engine as the d17. This has a 6 cylinder. The cab was made by ansel

Very interesting, i have a pair of English built model A,s. Neither have cabs. Do you find the cab restrictive at all. I kind of like being out in the open. Even though i get covered in dust then cooked at the same time. We don't do maize were i live. Not with combines like you do. Very occasionally i have heard of it. I haven't ever seen a combine cutting with a corn row header like you have on the vid. Only ever seen traditional grain headers is use. I probably need to get out more! We do have forage harvester whole crop harvesting it for livestock feed and energy production would you believe. Yes ridiculous i know but never mind. Thanks for the vid i would love to have a closer look but i live about 8,000 miles away. Keep the good work up.
