Do you what is " Jugni " ...? this genre of music is seen only in Punjab ...!! and it has a history ..!! Bhisna and Manda of Hasanpur , were the first to use this genre ... initially as a part of British celebrations then it turned revolutionary against British , subsequently they were caught and on the charges of rioting were imprisoned in Gujranwala and history has it they died during the torture and interrogation by them ... Jugnis revival is attributed to Alam Lohar , and his son Arif Lohar is keeping that tradition alive , though now many other singers have started using it , including Saleem Javed who has fused it in Urdu .. any way here is my blog on it... which I wrote in 2011 , it also appeared on apnaorg.com...
