Jake isn't evil he just fully believes in khonshu's form of justice
(Also I'm pretty sure the show did a good job of pointing out the differences between possession and DID and that Steven did have a panic attack)
[Also iirc everyone who called Marc and Steven insane was a manipulator, which is an indirect way of showing that they aren't insane (that being by showing people bad people call systems insane)] no hate just showing how I saw things differently

I honestly kind of felt that the juxtaposition between the fantastical mythological gods plot and the real grounded struggle that Moon system was having helped kind of de-mystify the portrayal a bit. Obviously in earlier episodes the line isn't as clear, which lead to some misinterpretation, but I feel they really did put in the effort to distinguish them as two very separate things. Though I will say having the villian be the one to mention and talk about their struggle the most wasn't... Idk, having the openly antagonistic and manipulative character being the one providing the audience with terms to use was a pretty big misstep. Obviously context clues tell you that Bad Guy's Words = Not Good, but a shockingly low amount of people picked up on that

Great thoughts on the series. I've been watching a few videos of different systems' opinions of MK, and it made me happy to hear that at least some experiences seemed to be depicted well (if not a bit dramaticized). It's a good point that they should have consulted some first-hand accounts for DID. I think that is a good policy to have, multiple sources and as close to the source as possible. Hopefully the series continues to open doors for conversations like this, and shed positive light on a disorder that seems to have had classically heavy stigmatizations (ie. split & "evil" alters). Thank you for sharing!

There’s a channel called ‘Cinema Therapy’ where a therapist (who has experience with systems) and a videographer sit down and discuss Moon Knight. They both agreed that because switching usually has no visual indicators, it could be hard to show when exactly the switch occurs. It’s more of an artistic compromise in my and their opinion.

12 was the second or third birthday we saw after his mother turned on him. So, he was either eight or nine when his mother began abusing him.

Thank you, you've confirmed my thoughts. To my knowledge, it is unlikely for DID to form if the ab*se started at 8. There would need to be repeated trauma before then.

@@TheRoseSystem I’m pretty sure that the oldest people can have repeated trauma for DID to develop was 10 years old.

I saw it this way and I could be wrong but this is just my interpretation: Marc is the balanced one the one who is the most balanced between violence and emotional maturity, Steven is the safe space for Marc when he gets overwhelmed with all the crap he had to go through, Jake is the one who actually experienced the physical abused and took the beatings from their mother. He has a more pessimistic look on life as a result he is more violent but i would not say he is evil necessarily just not afraid to do what is necessary to get the job done regardless of how Marc or Steven might object moraly.

I enjoyed your analysis, but I disagree on a few things:
    1. Steven is about to have a panic attack in episode 2 when he finds the locker and speaks to Marc. He even says as much, but perhaps the portrayal wasn’t the most realistic?
    2. I’m not convinced Jake is “evil”, I think we don’t know enough about him to determine that. Does he like Khonshu’s work? Yes, seemingly, but Khonshu also claims to be righteous (only killing those who deserve it), so I don’t necessarily think he is evil either. Ambiguous is the term I’d give both of them at this point. As a Christian like you, I see them dealing out judgment the same way God did in the Old Testament. He gives you time to repent, but if you don’t, He doesn’t hold back. I’ve heard systems say they feel this depiction casts them in a negative light, but as someone who knew nothing about it before I saw this show, I didn’t see Jake as a negative strike against you folks with DID, but then, I’m also very good at separating fact from fiction.
    3. I think Jake could be Marc’s first alter, even before Steven. It’s just a theory, since we don’t really know when he appeared unless it was during Marc’s time in the military, which was the other idea I had.
God bless you guys, thanks for a lovely review! I loved this show, it really made me interested in learning more about DID.

Hey! Thank you for the comment.
I agree with a lot of what you said. We didn't do a very good job at explaining our point of view in the video. Sometimes we struggle to express ourselves well.
      1) There were definitely elements of mental health shown, but it wasn't much. We and a lot of systems that we know well experience a lot more mental health on a daily basis then what was seen in the show. Maybe they were masking the extent of their mental health.
      2) I agree that Jake isn't necessarily evil. I'm worried that it could be interpreted this way though. As you said, we don't know enough about him. He is portrayed as scary though (both Marc and Steven are scared when they come back to see the amount of killing), which is a stigma that harms systems. I'm so glad that a number of comments are saying that they don't see him as evil. It means that our worry is just a worry and not a fact.
      3) Absolutely, Jake could have formed before Steven, we are not given enough information. The show doesn't do a good job at explaining when the trauma started. If it started with the brother's death, then it is highly unlikely that Marc would have formed DID due to his age, if it started earlier, then it could be possible.
A lot of our opinions come from the fact that we are finding the show to be a bit ambiguous. It is definitely one of the better representations of DID.
Thank you again for the comment, we love hearing other peoples opinion. Lots of Love from Sarah
