    I deeply appreciate the way you really do your damnedest to bring the viewer into the game with you and explain explicitly how it feels to play. I find you are better at describing gamefeel than 99% of game reviewers and it brings me zooming to your videos the second they come out.

    Definitely looking forward to when he covers the Astro Bot game on PS5. It's frankly amazing to see a platformer in this generation get so universally adored by literally every single person who's played it and I would love to hear his thoughts on it.

  • @Dr0dd

    Not going to lie, the highlight of this review were the little clips of your VR playing.
    The reason people don't talk about it much is probably that those who are looking for cute 3D platformers aren't going to go to the Playstation VR for that and vice versa. If this was on something like Switch instead I'd probably get more attention.

    Fun Fact at the end of the first portion of the Credits sequence (the interactive one), two final names pops up under the Special Thanks section. These two names are in fact two fictionnal characters created by a famous French TH-camr (Joueur du Grenier, the French version of the AVGN).
    Plus in the level with the torchlight, you can use it to uncover some nice and funny easter eggs (one of them is a reference to Undertale).
    I really love this game, there are times where I've laughed a lot because it was geniunely funny. It's the kind of game that is too short not because of the lack of levels but because it's so good, we end wanting more and more levels.

    Wow, thank you Mr. Rad. I've been looking for a new 3D platformer to play for some time now, and this one went completely under my radar. From what you showed off I was extremely impressed, and when you were talking about the dual use on the laser hover, it reminded me of something I once heard in game development, where instead of over-complicating a control scheme, it's more important to make your already existing functions have multiple purposes. I don't know if you'll come across this comment, but I just wanted to say that since I stumbled across your reviews, I have been consistently stunned by your content. It's rare to see a youtuber go as in depth into their subjects as you do, the first one that really comes to mind other than you would be Matthewmatosis, and I find that to be an extremely high bar. People like you really inspire me to be more than a standard 9-5 worker, and really push myself to be better. Maybe one day I'll make a game and I'd love for you to just stumble upon it years from now when I can actually produce it, and hopefully you'll enjoy it, haha. Again, thank you for all your hard work, and I anticipate your next video!

    Finally got myself a psvr yesterday and so far Astrobot is the purest and most precious thing ever. I feel like it’s been so long since I simply enjoyed playing a game, taking the time to just enjoy the scenery, to look at the little footprints my robot friend leaves on sand, the effects when he runs through grass and his cute little noises. This game really makes me feel like a kid again, I did these exact things when I first played Zelda the wind waker when I was seven and the games that are able to replicate this feeling are so rare and important to me. I don’t know if I would have bought it without this review since I’m generally not that much into platformers and I tend to be close-minded about the genres of games I enjoy, your channel helped me open up and try new things, thank you !
    Also in the first water level when Astrobot grabbed my face and just stayed there being cute I almost started crying because it was just so frickin adorable

    I would argue that Tearaway/Tearaway Unfolded is another great Sony first-party platformer made in recent years, and it also has a few moments where I felt a connection to in game characters... But that's Media Molecule, and there is a very good reason they're my favourite developers.
    ...But yeah, this game looks utterly brilliant, and the soundtrack is legit excellent. I need to grab myself PSVR for this.

    I watched supergreatfriend's gameplay video on this and it really blew me away. I think he's absolutely correct when he says it's one of the first VR games that really feels like it absolutely *_NEEDED_* to be VR. It'd lose so much without it. A lot of VR games really don't seem to accomplish that, I feel.

    Hearing you talk about this game and it's hardware interaction really makes me want to recommend you play Tearaway on the Vita, not the PS4 version. It's so endearing and instills as real sense of magic in the game. The way you interact with the world feels so natural and cute. It makes excellent use of Vita hardware in ways the ps4 can't compete with. The conclusion to the simple story is simply heart warming. There's a lot to love in tearaway, please check it out!

    I've always been kind of a skeptic of VR. It just never seemed like something I would get the most enjoyment out of for the money spent on it. Doesn't help I get headaches once a week and something like that might make the rate of them higher, but tbh this is the kind of game I see myself playing on VR if I ever do decide to finally try it out. Right after watching, I was searching up all the different games that supported the peripheral and how much it was going to cost to get both the PS4 and VR set. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, Nitro Rad. This Astro Bot to me was the system seller. the Forbidden Siren series.
    Gravity Rush.
    Rain.
    Tokyo's Jungle.
    Puppeteer.

    Well, here's my reason to get a PSVR ! I've been following your works for a while, Nitro, and thanks to them I discovered a lot of great, obscure games ,like Skylar & Plux, which I got recently. Subscribed right away!

    He mentions how the game has some references to other games. One of my favorite examples is that in the ghost level you can use your light to see a hidden Undertale reference and as a big Undertale fan it made me very happy.

    Sony was still publishing first party platformers with thr Ratchet and Clank games for ps3 and ps4 , which were some great titles , so it's not like Sony forgot about platformer genre in general

    • @ThePreciseClimber
      @ThePreciseClimber 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There was also a Sly Cooper game on the PS3.
      And were the Infamous games REALLY all that different from Sly 2&3? Both make you climb buildings, do missions and all that shit.

    • @supergoron1
      @supergoron1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's still been pretty slim pickings for Sony brand platformers this gen. All we had was Ratchet & Clank which played well but kind of terrible for a remake and Little Big Planet 3 which was pretty buggy at launch and didn't seem to do as well as 2.
      Would love to see something like this or that long ago teased Sly 5 though that's not VR exclusive.

    • @NitroRad
      @NitroRad  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The Ratchet series got really samey pretty quickly. And other than LittlebigPlanet, that was the ONLY competent series they were putting out.
      Compared to the PS1 and PS2 that both had a huge variety of platformers to choose from, their attention to the platformer genre in the past 10 years has been underwhelming.

    • @ThePreciseClimber
      @ThePreciseClimber 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@NitroRad One has to wonder, are Jak 2&3, Ratchet 1,2&3 and Sly 2&3 REALLY platformers? It's true they all have platforming elements but they all seem to focus way more on other kinds of gameplay. Vehicles, gun combat, completing open world missions, etc.
