17.04 you used an exhaust effect during solstice - you can’t do that, exhaust effects are only during an activate turn, see top of page 11 in the rules. This error gets repeated (return unrest with shrine, then exhaust Viking power to draw 2 cards)
Generally I agree except I believe if the card states you can trigger it on an effect it can happen outside of activate. "Unless the card specifies otherwise". That's why I did this
Right but that means cards like Mounted Archers for the Scythians which specifically says you can exhaust it in another players turn. Sorry the rules weren’t totally clear on this ☹️

It's really interesting how differently the Romans played here. I was playing them on Overlord and they were whipping through their deck, dumping all kinds of cards into history. Overlord does always 5 cards a turn, but I also wonder of Colin had a bit of good luck with which cards were flipped vs discarded.
It didn't end up really being a problem, but you didn't appear to register the passive ability of the Longships, which lets you acquire exiled regions and gain population when you do. I think between that and a bunch of the Viking regions exiling cards from the market, the idea is probably to exile regions from the market and then pick them up via Longships for extra population gain.
Love this game, and love the videos! I think you may have misplayed Erik the Red on your first turn, though; "find" requires you to search your hand first, then your discard, draw deck, and finally your nation deck if the previous options had no regions. I think Erik's meant to be a late-game option, as you play out all your regions, then use him to grab another one from your nation deck.

Amazing video! I think you are not allowed to play the King of Kings card twice. The first player who plays it, flips the card and now other players have a chance to play it as well in the last turn for a lesser reward.
@@OneStopCoopShop At 59:00 minutes, Round 14 (your last round) you played Glory and gained 4 VP from the back of King of Kings, after you had already picked it up and played the front for six VP previously. Per the rules on page 19: " You cannot trigger King of Kings (either side) more than once per game". Obviously, this didn't impact the final winner. Also, one minute later when you resolved the bot's Qin card in the very last round, you resolved them as Tributary, when they also have the Pinned (Inifinity) symbol, which is higher than Tributary on the bot chart. Again, one Pop instead of 1 VP didn't change the outcome. Great Playthrough...I learned a ton. Thanks.
@4:50, your correction is correct, but actually if you instead interpret your actions as choosing not to shuffle the deck (since it was optional), then use the Viking power to place the card at the bottom (I think?), could you bury Finland/Vinland that way? So, there was no effect, maybe just that you misspoke and were not using the card but instead using the Viking passive!
Hello! I recently bought the game myself and watched your playthroughs of it. Very well made, thank you! At 59:55 you did the tributary Action of the bot even though the card is also a pinned card so you should have done the pinned card action of the bot(gain 1 pop. Put this card into history). Am i getting this right?
I’m pretty sure that on round 11 you could have taken great instead, exhausted skis and drawn a card instead of 2 materials, played great for an extra action and use that newly drawn rollo to get the last fame card

I just bought Imperium: Classics yesterday, which I haven't played yet, and I was wondering what I should do now, since Imperium: Horizons is out now with a bunch of replacement cards and a new rulebook. The new cards are leading, but I don't want to buy Imperium: Horizons YET. So, I have the following questions (I want to play to play the solo and multiplayer mode) : Do I need to use the new rulebook? What should I do with the cards that are replaced? What files do I need to download on BoardGameGeeks? Thanks in advance, looking forward to see more deckbuilding playthroughs! :)
The rules are mostly clarifications, and the new cards are often minor changes. So I would say you don't have to do anything (and I'm not aware of any BGG files). Just play the game, and if you end up really enjoying it and wanting more, then buy Horizons and replace cards. I never had any trouble with my copies of Classics and Legends prior to Horizon coming out.
I am pretty sure I did this. I trusted end of round by obtaining my final card. Then the bot went and I had one more turn and so did the Roman's! Yup I did that correct!

Have you played the Scythians? There is a card that allows you to “break through on regions” but we do not place unrest on regions, curious to see if you had any insights. The rule book for this game is very wonky imo and not written in complete thoughts haha.
It is weird! That just means you can with chose one that is in the offer, or draw from the region deck to get the next card there. You just ignore the unrest part since no unrest connected to the regions!

I’m still very confused as you cannot become an empire and thus these cannot be played, so I always avoid them like the plague. They have a card in their nation deck that you can tap to play one empire card! So most cards were not empire but that one allowed me to play 1 a turn!
At 12:28 when the bot exiles a card, you exiled the second card in the market. I thought they always exiled the first card, unless there is a tie, which they then exile the highest VP card?
The bot exiles the leftmost card that does NOT have a token on it. The Sumerians in the farthest left slot had a progress token on it, that’s why the City card was exiled. Colin played it correctly.
Someone is keen for fame cards and getting his own saga I think? As a Scandinavian I have special interest for the vkings but they do seem a bit different and not so easy.

I think the Vikings were an awful matchup for the Romans. It was ridiculous you finished the game before the Romans became an empire. I wonder if the Vikings are too powerful in solo mode?
The bot ignores all effects of cards from my understanding so no they would not remove the Unrest cards. Also I made a fatal error that I was triggering Exhaust effects during the Solstice. That allowed my to draw 2 cards almost every turn which meant I ran through my deck very quickly. So I think it could have been different if I had not done that, but I do feel like the Vikings outmatched the Romans. I am not sure if it is true but I feel like harder Civ's in the regular game have harder bots? Romans are star 1's I will not be playing star 1 Civ's again if they are that easy. I will say I just played the Omecs vs. the Atlanteans last night and got pummeled 77 to 53. So the Bot can be a good challenge it is up a bit to how the cards play out!
I agree the extra card draw is what really helped with this game - plus grabbing the shrine to give the easy unrest return. Without both of those (one clever play the other a rules misunderstanding) the game would have played out a bit differently. I think both the Vikings and the Celts are top performers in solo because you can flood the bot with unrest and the bot Is poor at unrest management (unlike a player)

The game looks incredibly, but the bot is very weak. I watched two of your movies and in both point advantage over the bot was huge, which causes that for me playing solo into this game does not make sense.
I get that however this is not always the case!! This just happened to be with the cards but I lost all the time. Just yesterday I lost to the Atlantians. I also did something wrong here and used a exhaust ability during solstice and it really helped me. It would have been much closer I think!
Looks interesting but it really is a shame that the tokens in the game are some of the worst I have ever seen. Neon pink bricks and neon blue figures on black? The action markers? Horrible
I have heard this before, but I am not sure how else to help? Maybe check out someone else's playthrough like Jon Gets Games? Or just try playing it without a bot until it starts to make sense! Sorry I can't be more helpful!
