Marc Fincham rock and roll? I can think of a thousand songs I'd consider more "rock and roll." Maybe more black light music, possibly shoegazer (I don't mind that term), some other genre, IMO. But we may have different definitions. (Epitome of Rock and Roll sound is something like Gimme Shelter by the Stones, IMO) Regardless, I think every song on the four albums I have from Mazzy Star sound near perfect. (For some reason, Sweet Jane always kind of annoyed me)
@@mikenorledge4110 rock and roll is a more complete song than sweet jane. the vu dont strike me as a particularly 'complete' sounding kindve band, though who loves the sun is one of the most complete songs ever written, and gives the beatles a run for their money in terms of short and sweet pop genius.. jus not rock n roll obv
As far as talent and voice go, Hope Sandoval is light years ahead of Lana del Rey, as are Mazzy Star songs. Some of Del Rey's songs are good, but I still find them a bit formulaic, and her singing talent mediocre. At least if compared to Mazzy Star's songs and sound.Or perhaps I was just annoyed by sexed-up retro glam and the hype.
With respect, Lana may sound like Hope (personally, I think Hope is a class above LDR), but I don't understand the order of the comparison. To me, that would be like someone listening to Eminem's Berserk, and then commenting on a Beastie Boys video that they sound like Eminem. The order is just wrong. (Not that I think Eminem and any of the Beastie Boys actually sound alike, but saying that Hope sounds like Lana is what seems as backwards to me)
Hope is an angel.. Hope's voice is an angel's voice.

Such a cool singer!

Was ever the more complete rock and roll song ever written? Sweet Jane possibly. It's a close call.

Sweet Jane by The Velvet Underground or the Cowboy Junkies?
@@beno526 I much prefer the Cowboy Junkies version to Lou Reed's very own .. what a great cameo in the film 'Flight'

Can we just stop comparing EVERYBODY to Lana Del Rey? yes, she's incredible, but in her own way.
