I’ve always been a big fan of pocket carrying in a jacket pocket in the colder months. Having an easier to access option in outer garments just makes sense.
I have a nelson pocket holster I bought from a forum member for an LCP2. It has 2 wings on it instead of one unlike the cheeps that come with many guns. It anchors in the pocket when drawing upwards. Perfect for its job. Sometimes I'm just taking out some trash or grabbing mail so slipping a small gun in the pocket is simple and easy.
I pocket carry a ton. As you well know. South Florida in the summer is brutal. So it makes it much more comfortable to be armed. May not be optimal, but really it give me no excuse to not carry in the heat.
I am going to start pocket carrying simply because of comfort. I'm tired of trying to get an iwb holster to work for me. I've spent at least $200 on holsters and none of them are comfortable with my canik tp9sf elite. The pistol rubs, pokes and I just hate that feeling of something against my side. I think pocket carry with a small revolver would be ideal.
Same with a Canik MC9. Either I print at AIWB or my butt gets poked carrying strong side. Just bought the new bodyguard 2.0 today for pocket/ankle (I think ankle is the only way I could possibly carry at the climbing gym on body).
Before sitting in my car, I pull the holster up in my pocket till the lip of the holster matches the edge of the pocket cut. Then when I sit down the butt of the pistol is exposed and makes for an easy presentation while seated. The buckle of the seatbelts hides it from casual view but doesn't impede it being from being drawn.
Thanks for a thoughtful video! I have pocket-carried exclusively for about 20 years. My main priority is to have a gun with me, and living in Alabama, the only consideration in clothing is pants pockets with sufficient room for the gun AND HOLSTER. I don't have to worry about covering a gun as when attached to the waistband or belt. On the rare occasions it gets really cold, I have a leather coat with reach-through slots in the pockets. Until I recently picked up a Sig P365 with safety, I carried small DAO pistols or J-frames.
I pocket carry a P365 or Shield Plus every day. I don’t wear super baggy pansy’s either. Just regular straight leg jeans. It’s a really good method to always have a gun.
As a gun owner of a 9 mm and a 380, I first owned the 9MM but bought the 380 because I noticed some days I wasn't taking the 9Mm because I didn't wanna appendix carry all day long and be uncomfortable. When I feel like the nine is too much, especially in the summertime when you're wearing less close, I'm always carrying the 380 in my pocket. I would rather carry the 9MM. But I would rather have a 380 because I left 9MM at home. I would also rather carry a 22 around my ankle than having nothing. The point is: Get a gun and carry the way that you'll carry everyday. I would rather have my daughter have her hand gun in her purse where's it's not exactly easy to access, but I would rather have her have a small 22 in her purse than nothing.
Thanks for the video. From what I've read and watched a ton of "experts" say to only use a holster for your firearm- "it is too danderous to carry without a holster" - I always thought a ton of guns have so much protection built in these days that they might just be trying to sell you something. I really like the idea of pocket carry- I gopt my CC license but have yet to do it- just trying to figure things out and get confidence--- and would like to be halfway comfortable while doing it.
I only pocket carry. I can easily pocket carry a Glock 42. It’s all about having a matching bulge in your other front pocket, or a larger one there. Let’s see … in the past week, I’ve pocket carried a Glock 42, a KelTec P32, and a SIG P238. No one the wiser. ‘Course, I don’t go into prohibited places with the gun, either.
I been pocket carrying for 3yrs both a original shield and a p365 i do just fine. All these “ quick draws “ are not real world reasonable. Cant just draw and shoot. Majority of the time people will be around where you need to aim and you have no idea how you will react in an actual situation. Odds are you will mess up with how ever you carry
The common concealed carrier believes that everything is going to be to their advantage. The most likely scenario is the criminal will blind side you or grab you from behind. Very seldom will a violent criminal approach someone from the front unless they're being deceitful, like trying to get you to help them and catch you off guard and then attack. The main objective, my main objective, is to be armed and I don't frequent obvious trouble places. I won't even drive through a bad neighborhood even if it's a shortcut to my destination.
Check out 221B tactical jeans. Easy for pockets. Easy to draw from seated even with a seatbelt. They are a bit stretchy as well. I carry either the SW351c 7 shot 22mag or the SW327PC 8 shot 357mag in front pocket.
VERY good informative video! I prefer owb Paddle Holster under my shirt carry > but > for my daily life routine and the way I dress > I'm almost always using the Pocket carry method. Thanks for sharing
I think a pocket gun on weak side and a better gun in waistband is best choice for ccw. Hand on pocket gun if something looks sketchy, and better gun if you have draw time. In bigger city’s I carry a 19 with red dot, and a 642 weak side pocket. I switch the glock for another snubby on hip in my city (very low threat here). Oh and I make sure any clothes I buy works with pocket carry and aiwb. Also I carry aiwb, and weak side pocket
That's how I've carried for years. However, I've recently begun transitioning to tucked-in shirts after losing weight and slimming down some. My new carry practice has been a primary gun in strong-side pocket (left for me.) It's usually a Kel-Tec PF9 I've owned since 2010 or a Ruger LCP-MAX. A spare magazine rides in a discreet knife pouch weak side OWB. In addition, a North American Arms .22LR mini revolver rides in my jeans watch pocket with the butt tuned to the left (again, my strong side) and covered by my belt-worn cell phone holster.
@@hasgunwilltravel6840 Yep. For me, it's something I can access with my other hand, should my first hand be committed already (such as to weapon retention) or injured.
I think there’s more cons than pros. My biggest concern would be scenarios where it goes from hand to hand to deadly force. Perhaps if I were carrying two pistols and am concerned with being robbed but wow. Nice shirt BTW.
How would you know that you'll be in one of these scenarios in advance? I can imagine this only for very specific police or military operations. Even then there are probably a lot of ways that the scenario could change on the fly and make pocket a liability.
I guess it just all depends on where you frequent and the social dynamics of your area. Most people do not need a semiautomatic handgun with 2 extra magazines but they feel comfortable carrying that. I personally live in and frequent rural areas where the people are older and generally calm. We do go to a larger town now and then but I still do not see a need for more than 5 rounds. The most likely scenario I will find myself in is a meth head approaching me for some cash. The main thing I do is avoid any type of conflict. Unless the person approaches me with anger or they look like trouble I'm generally going to either run or try to get to my vehicle so that I can leave quickly.
So what you’re saying is that pocket carry is great for the times when you are most likely to be confronted by an armed attacker (pumping gas, taking a walk, in a convenience store, putting groceries in your car) and appendix carry is best for zombie attacks.
@@MrRevolver oh, nonononooo, it makes sense. Think of all the women you see standing and walking all the time casually with their hand permanently… in their purse?

Not everyone is going to be perfect conditions to defend themselves. That being said, Just Carry.

It's the most comfortable method for me. My 327 LCR pretty much disappears in my front jeans pocket too.
I'd rather carry my LCP Max in my pocket than to not carry at all.
I use a rolling walker with a seat. I pocket carry in the large pocket on my cargo shorts. Gun is readily available during driving or while seated
I’ve been pocket carrying a j frame in a Mika holster for a awhile. It definitely has its place 🤷🏻♂️
People should choose a carry option and then select the gun. I think pocket carry is the best option for me.

The hardest part about pocket carry is losing use of the car keys and pocketknife pocket.
Really? Put them in the other pockets....🤪🤪🤪
@@brown5252 that was a joke about how convenient pocket carry is.

I've noticed Mr Revolver doesn't use one much.
Out of the 5 most recent videos on this channel, four of them are about revolvers...
What kind of gun were you shooting from pocket draw?
Beretta Tomcat
In my opinion, its really the only practical way to conceal carry if you've got a physical job.
Caleb, what pocket holster did you use in the video? Was it the Alabama?
What were you using for a shot timer? Was it an iWatch with an app?
Yeah, it's an Apple Watch with the ShotBud timer app

more great reasons to pocket carry revolver: no accidental misfires, no malfunctions. Not very fun to draw in .9 and spend 5.0 clearing a jam!
Or carry a duty sized weapon in a holster
